Summary/Abstract: The global crisis of democracy is obvious. This crisis is visible in each and every (democratic) country, in consolidated, as in transitional democracies. The global crisis of democracy has several symptoms and causes. The study deals with only one of those causes: the profound disequilibrium between the components of civil society. The author is explaining his theory about the three components of civil society: civic, non-civic, anti-civic. Several examples are quoted and explained, among them civil society associations like the Ku Klux Klan, Al Qaeda or Mafia (with a huge diversity of organized crime voluntary groups), well known all around the world, but also examples of less known associations. The author is criticizing the canonic, dogmatic, and traditional theories on civil society.
