Summary/Abstract: One of the ecclesiastical personalities originating from the lands of Alba is the bishop Policarp (Pompei) Moruşca, whose name is primarily linked to the establishment of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate in the United States of America. His administrative tasks and functions during the interwar period in the Metropolitan Church of Transylvania, together with a series of writings with spiritual-moral, pastoral and historical content, complete the successful mission of the first bishop of the Romanians in America as a priest and archimandrite, and especially as a bishop. His works started from the imperative of assumed pastoral care and the desire to raise the moral society level of his times and increase the cultural level of the young generations in Transylvania at the beginning of the 20th century. The present study presents the life of the illustrious archpastor of the Church. It analyzes the moral dimensions of his writings, emphasizing the social impact they produced and the concrete way of applying some aspects of social morality underlined by Bishop Policarp Moruşca.
