Restoration of a ”Dolium” Type Ceramic Vessel of Roman Origin, Discovered at Războieni – Cetate (Alba County)

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to highlight, not so much the methods and techniques of restoration applied, but the value and importance of this artefact in the context in which the museum in Alba Iulia has only one complete specimen similar in shape and size to the one we restored. The ceramic object that is the subject of this article is a large vessel used to store or transport liquids and cereals, discovered in Războieni – Cetate (Alba County) in the building called building 1. The restoration operations performed did not pose any particular problems, but a detail that attracted attention is the presence in the middle area of the vessel of a perforation made by scraping with a rigid instrument, remaining unclear the purpose of the perforation of the artefact.
