Summary/Abstract: Zimowla by Dominika Słowik is a novel which presents history of a small town between 1982 and 2002. It is worth mentioning that Cukrówka is a place where reality mixes with fantasy. The boundary between them seems to be blurred. The narrator tries to figure out what happened in this city during three decades. In Słowik’s novel the world is multidimensional. Zimowla is also an interesting story about the fall of communism and the birth of capitalism viewed through the prism of everyday life. Słowik’s novel abounds in stories full of miracles, which corresponds to the human need for existence of supernatural phenomena.
