Summary/Abstract: In this article are analyzed realization possibilities of the restorative justice concept (separate models) in the penitential system, with an emphasis to institutions of imprisonment. Scientific achievements in criminology and victimology, restorative justice (hereinafter – RJ) models, created and applied in practice are used as a basis. The article undertakes a widest possible analysis of possibilities of restorative justice in the penitential system, not only to the extent of the highly widespread RJ models (e.g. victim offender mediation, conferences). The restorative justice is analyzed in a broader context, by including into the subject matter of research separate communal correctional, educational programs for convicts, also imprisonment institutions, focusing on the concept of reconstructive justice. Hence, the article seeks to discuss as broadly as possible the practice of restorative justice in the system of penalty execution, by singling out separate models, by providing innovative experience of foreign countries. As a basis of this article is used the provision that the restorative justice may be an indicator showing to what extent the penitential system is oriented towards sustaining of social relationships of convicts, strengthening of interpersonal relationships, realization of restitutional decisions, etc. Essentially, the restorative justice indicates the general quality the country’s social relationships and public life, which, subsequent to crime-committing, must each time be reconstructed through the application of RJ models.
