Summary/Abstract: Multiculturalism, the ideology of diversity, is subject of a litigious debate in the present day. Taking into account the concept of national identity and the national definition of citizenship, the present article attempts to analyze the two main images of multiculturalism in Europe – France and Germany, in order to highlight the modalities of addressing the process of integration of the Muslims’ communities.
