Summary/Abstract: Abstract: The paper reviews the traditional understanding of specifics and characteristics of the casework method and some critical issues of the contemporary social work practice. Thus the social casework is commented in the context of interactions on micro- and macro level, case management practice, the subculture of poverty, the importance of the resources, the necessity of developing the personality and behavior, the importance of the relations in the helping process.
