Summary/Abstract: This study is an attempt to describe the last months of life of king Ferdinand of Romania based on testimonies, correspondence and medical reports from that time. He died of cancer on July 20, 1927, in spite of all last efforts made to keep him alive: contacting some prestigious physicians from Romania, France, and Belgium, following up modern and even innovative treatments, the moral support of the royal family. Unfortunately the disease was discovered in a final stage. One of the possible explanations for this late diagnosis was an initial medical error. The person who has been accused was dr. Eduard Romalo – the king’s personal physician.
