Tema Marijine ljepote u vremenu i djelu Matije Divkovića

Author(s): Marija Pehar / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

Matija Divković’s works Christian Study and One-hundred Miracles are analyzed here with reference to the topic of Mary’s beauty, which occurs as an especially striking theme. Before analyzing Divković’s texts, Divković’s historical context and the Marian-theological context are addressed. Thus, the topic of Mary’s beauty is first discussed against a broad background of philosophical and theological thought on beauty, especially in the context of Christian theological aesthetics, which considers beauty primarily as God’s beauty, and the beauty of his love reflected in his creation. The second important context for understanding this topic is that of post-tridentine Mariology and the spread of Marian devotion at this time, in which the theme of Mary’s immaculateness – considered as a precondition for particular closeness to God, and observed from outside as an exceptional mercifully mediated beauty – was emphasised.

The Art of Fake

The Art of Fake

Author(s): Oana Horhogea / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

It was Plato who defined the meaning and metaphysical value of Beauty in a way which was valid for all types of Arts, emphasizing on the concept of “Mimesis”. This aesthetic principle, developed mainly during ancient times, states that art represents an imitation of the real world. If criminal expertise of hand-writing has as its subject the study of handwriting based on scientific evidence regarding the graphics skills with the aim of identifying the author, can we consider counterfeiting of historical evidence as a form of art? Both in the case of hand-writing and works of art, there occur anatomo-physiological and psychological peculiarities specific to their author, the complex conditioned reflexes, and the dynamic stereotype which define a certain individual. Thus, the author of the fake needs to have the ability and training to accurately render the characteristics of the original.

Metody dějin umění: Metodologie dějin umění 2

Author(s): Jiří Kroupa / Language(s): Czech

Art history as a discipline is currently undergoing a remarkable period during which the traditional and new theoretical approaches to visual art are discussed. In the first section, the propaedeutic manual of methods in art history discusses the objects of art history, the question of personality of an art historian, and basic techniques in the discipline. Subsequetnly, leading figures of art historians and mainstream currents in art history in the second half of the 20th century are mentioned, focusing on latest trends in the interpretation of art and video works. An important part of the book is a treatise on the fundamental concepts of art history (style, structure, theme- symbol, function, and historic time) and an overview of the major art historical approaches, and also approaches of different disciplines and applied approaches in multidisciplinary fields. The volume is intended primarily for students of art history and follows the earlier part of the previous “Schools of art history.“

Rozbor filmu

Author(s): Radomir D. Kokeš / Language(s): Czech

The aim is to offer a comprehensive textbook focused on formal analysis of stylistic, narrative, and thematic arrangement of a film work. The publication should be useful for students of film studies and audio-visual culture, as well as for wide audiences (academics, film reviewers, and film fans). The book structure follows a bottom-up explanation model which starts with searching for a research problem and the thesis formulation and goes on to questions related to the text outline and the structure of argumentation. The final part of the book offers more complex film case analyses rooted in the perspective of the previous chapters.

Aspects of Beauty and Sublime in Humans

Aspects of Beauty and Sublime in Humans

Author(s): Simina Cherecheș / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

The sublime is what surrounds us when an image gives us a mood with a strong emotional impact, when we see something that brings back memories or some senses, we have the impression that time stands still and that we are above all the things. We see daily things that gain our interest and we would like to sit and linger for a long time watching them. The fact that we are surrounded by beauty and beautiful things makes us more and more strict with ourselves and with our work in order to have control over the things in our lives, for example, to have a physical appearance that makes our life enjoyable and by which we are delighted to have a very good image of ourselves. All the time we live we have the feeling of the sublime, something truly great, something that makes us aware of our lives or the moments in which we live.

Author(s): Galina Dekova / Language(s): Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

The article traces the development of art history as a discipline that operates on the border between the scientific and the subjective attitude to art. Today, with the term “art” we also indicate a field of syncretism and intersections with many levels of presence and realization in society. The theory of art has accumulated a huge amount of source material and the need for systematization is becoming increasingly apparent. The main trends of the early twentieth century as formalism, the history of the spirit, methods such as iconology and iconography have received a new reading at the intersection with critical theory. Thus, the tone in this discipline, born of the German philosophical tradition, is already set mainly by authors from overseas. The situation is defined as post-postmodern and the attention is focused mainly on the crisis of art history as an independent scientific discipline, caused by a reluctance to understand the real contradictions embedded in it.

Estetické hodnocení umění a přírody

Estetické hodnocení umění a přírody

Author(s): Barbora Bakošová / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

Narativní a ambientní dimenze estetické hodnoty environmentu

Narativní a ambientní dimenze estetické hodnoty environmentu

Author(s): Kateřina Pařízková / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

„V prosinci roku 1968 jsme mohli poprvé spatřit, jak tohle stabilní a bezpečné místo vypadá. Appolo 8 kroužilo kolem Měsíce a astronauti fotografovali místa, kde by mohly přistát další výpravy.

Author(s): Kateřina Pařízková / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

Estetické preference přírodního prostředí a přírodní vědy

Author(s): Karel Stibral / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

V podobné době, kdy se v anglosaském světě etablovala environmentální estetika, dochází i ke značnému nárůstu zájmu o estetické hodnoty přírodního prostředí či krajiny v rámci přírodních věd.

[RE]READINGS OF THE PERFECT. MYSTICISM OF JAMES LEE BYARS

[RE]READINGS OF THE PERFECT. MYSTICISM OF JAMES LEE BYARS

Author(s): Juan Agustín Mancebo Roca / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

The complex contextualization of the work of James Lee Byars (1932–1997) in contemporary artistic practices was determined by its timelessness in both form and concept. Considered by Kevin Power as one of the key artists of the second half of the twentieth century alongside figures such as Joseph Beuys and Andy Warhol, his legacy seems to have declined probably because of the discomfort caused by the approach to his work, since any previous consideration and attempt at cataloging, escapes through the loopholes on which they are based. Byars’ performances and pieces were mostly structured around the cryptic concept of perfection. The artist’s mission, in this case, takes on the roles of a shaman and a magician who questions the illegibility of a world whose materialism seems to have expelled any consideration of the sacred, thus articulating a work that, far from providing answers, raises questions about the ultimate meaning of life. Gold, geometry, time (and its transience), space (re-signified by his cultural heritage), language and the body expressed a proposal in which installations and actions are the instruments he uses primarily to question us about the big questions. Byars in this sense has been considered a mystic, since he places us at the doors of a new perception to make us uncomfortable and provoke us, to transmit us the questions about being in the world.

Zdroje a šíření vybraných komodit keramické produkce vrcholného a pozdního středověku

Author(s): / Language(s): English,Czech

The publication is focused on late medieval pottery products with higher aesthetical effect. The key group is represented by stove tiles, where the unifying elements of relief decoration helped to define series of motifs for stoves with specific iconographic concept, which were found in various locations. The same approach can be also used with small ceramic sculptures, aquamaniles and relief-decorated floor tiles, even though the achieved information value in these cases is much lower. Micropetrographic, XRF and other analyses helped to identify the production centres and the distribution model of these ceramic groups. 3D documentation enabled a detailed comparison of differences between individual reliefs and specific traces of manufacturing procedures. Individual chapters contain active links to the source database of analysed items and to 3D models of selected specimens from reference collections.

Author(s): Tereza Krementáková / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

Considerations of the Beautiful and the Sublime In Art

Considerations of the Beautiful and the Sublime In Art

Author(s): Simina Georgiana Cherecheș / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

By deepening these two themes of the world that surrounds us we find an aesthetics of the environment, of the pleasant environment that we find in beautiful objects and human works created by man over the centuries. By beautiful, we find the idea of pleasantness, of things with an aspect out of relief, of human qualities that we cannot but expose and detail in the most meaningful way. Although the things around us have a certain aesthetic and give us a more pleasant mood, they are transient, like any creation that man has created over time, because they are designed, evolve, and must periodically reinvent themselves in order to preserve this form of beauty. But what truly remains a beautiful thing that always makes us feel good and has remained the same since life on earth began is what we call human qualities, kindness, honesty, love from where we least expect it, and the care we receive from our loved ones. Most famous thinkers expound human values as those that are driven by the idea of beauty. The sublime is what we might describe when we experience a state of awe, when we experience unique moments in our lives, when we glimpse a phenomenon in nature that touches our heartstrings, when we see a rainbow, when we take part in a solar eclipse or a volcano eruption, these things bring man to the point where his heartstrings are touched and he feels life on another level. Although man has succeeded in creating impressive things through painting and sculpture, thus creating a pleasant environment, he does not succeed in exposing artistic experiences as deeply as the natural environment does.
