Meaning-construction in everyday bilingualism. On the language attitudes of Hungarian-speaking youth in Romania

Meaning-construction in everyday bilingualism. On the language attitudes of Hungarian-speaking youth in Romania

Author(s): Erika-Mária Tódor,Enikő Tankó / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

In our presentation we will examine the diversity of linguistic attitudes of Hungarian speakers in Romania. Although there are several definitions for this concept from psychology and linguistics, linguistic attitudes are generally understood as the value judgments and attitudes that individuals form on the basis of their language socialization, language use and learning experience, in relation to languages, language varieties and language expressions. In our present research, we wanted to find out the speakers’ value judgments about the phenomenon of using Romanian and/or English loanwords in their everyday Hungarian communication. In our research paradigm we adopted a case-oriented, inductive, data-focused research towards which we applied a mixed approach: the data was collected through a questionnaire, then the focus group discussion highlighted the criteria respondents used in their value judgment, as well as their opinions about loanwords adopted from the two languages. The conversations also indirectly shed light on the way in which a minority community relates to the languages active in its linguistic environment.

Как учениците употребяват съюзите нито – нито, ту – ту и хем – хем? (Национална анкета)

Author(s): Magdalena Abadzhieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2022

This article presents the results of a linguistic study conducted in June 2022 how students use the conjunctions nito – nito, tu – tu and hem – hem. The data was collected by filling out a survey from students from Bulgaria. The material has been summarized and analyzed and will be useful both for teachers and students, as well as for experts who work on the curricula of Bulgarian language and literature. As the results show, more emphasis needs to be placed on learning the lexical meaning of conjunctions, which can be achieved with more lexical tasks.

Tematyka ekologiczna w słowackim Państwowym Programie Nauczania dla szkół podstawowych (drugi etap edukacyjny)

Tematyka ekologiczna w słowackim Państwowym Programie Nauczania dla szkół podstawowych (drugi etap edukacyjny)

Author(s): Anita Račáková / Language(s): Polish Issue: 31/2022

In her article, Anita Račáková analyses how the Slovak State Educational Program for the 2nd level of primary schools incorporates topics related to climate, or, more precisely, to issues of the environment and its protection. Račáková enquires whether these topical issues have been addressed in the Program, in which educational areas and subjects they are handled, and in what form and to what extent. Her analysis shows that ecological and climatic topics have a dual status in programs for the 2nd level of primary schools. They are part of compulsory extracurricular education in the areas of Man and Nature, Man and Society, and the optional cross-sectional subject Ecological Education. These topics are also incorporated into the educational areas of Man and Values, Language and Communication, where they are used as a tool for developing the personality of students.
