Tematica editorială a gazetei poporale Opinca (1885)

Author(s): Alexandru Nicolaescu / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 31/2024

Towards the end of the nineteenth century, the rural press became increasingly well-represented in Transylvania. Even though some newspapers published for peasants managed to appear for an extended period, such as Cărțile Săteanului Român [The Books of the Romanian Peasant] (1876–1886) or Șezătoarea [The Social Soirée] (1875–1882), others were published for short periods. In our study, we have focused on a publication in the latter category, trying to present the themes through which it tried to attract rural readers. A research desideratum was related to the intention to follow to what extent the themes of interest to the rural environment were not reached and whether, despite the short period in which it was published, it succeeded in achieving this desideratum. The study is segmented into two parts. The first part deals with the technical-administrative issues of the publication, while the second part deals with the topics in the published articles.

Album „Wnętrze” Zbigniewa Otfinowskiego w kontekście powrotu do stylu art déco w architekturze wnętrz i meblarstwie początku XXI w.

Album „Wnętrze” Zbigniewa Otfinowskiego w kontekście powrotu do stylu art déco w architekturze wnętrz i meblarstwie początku XXI w.

Author(s): Agata Wójcik / Language(s): Polish Issue: XXX/2024

The article is the first analysis of the “Wnętrze” (Interior) album, containing residential interior furnishing designs by Zbigniew Otfinowski, graduate of the School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Krakow. The album, stored in the National Archives in Krakow, was probably created in the mid-1930s. The furniture designs were intended for the homes of middle-class clients. They were part of the Art Deco style, which at that time was characterized by a departure from decoration and the use of geometric forms, as well as impressive veneers. The text also shows that designs from almost a hundred years ago can still be implemented or provide inspiration. In the early 2020s, the Art Deco style has regained some popularity in residential furniture, accessories and interior design. Designers propose arrangements that are intended to reflect the atmosphere of those times, furniture companies produce furniture styled after such equipment or create their replicas, trade in authentic period furniture is also flourishing, and there are suggestions on how to arrange original Art Deco equipment in contemporary interiors. In this context, the “Wnętrze” album can provide inspiration for people who would like to arrange their apartment in the Art Deco style and are looking for furniture designs that specialist companies can use to make the equipment. Today, it may also be a template used by companies producing replicas of Art Deco furniture.

O badaniach archiwalnych krajobrazu kulturowego Krakowa ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ogrodów

Author(s): Agata Zachariasz / Language(s): Polish Issue: XXX/2024

An important feature of Krakow’s landscape are its historic green areas. Everyone knows the Planty or Jordan Park, but there are also other gardens, parks, green areas, squares and streets, with all of them contributing to the system of urban green areas. The aim of the article is to show the usefulness of archival research undertaken in architectural and landscape design for historic green areas. The work uses archival research, literature studies, field work and factual analysis, historical-interpretive methods and comparative studies. The course of conservation proceedings in the reconstruction of historic green areas is presented, with the study of archives being an important element of the designer’s work. Various scales of planning and design as well as forms of greenery are presented, mainly from Krakow and the surrounding area. They serve as an example to show archival sources (including maps, designs, photographs, and written sources) being used directly or indirectly in reconstruction or revalorization projects of garden art objects. Selected issues related to cartography, especially the Galician cadastral map, are discussed using examples. Pleasure gardens, parks and gardens inside urban blocks – in dense urban development, plants and architectural details, and regulatory plans are shown, and greenery issues are discussed in the context of panoramas and views. Finally, the importance of collecting various types of source materials for the reconstruction of composed greenery constituting an integral part of the cultural landscape is emphasised.

Uwag kilka dotyczących genezy inicjatywy „Archiwa rodzinne. Zostań rodzinnym archiwistą”

Uwag kilka dotyczących genezy inicjatywy „Archiwa rodzinne. Zostań rodzinnym archiwistą”

Author(s): Władysław Stępniak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (103)/2023

The article presents observations regarding the development of interest in family archives in Poland and the creation of the “Family Archives. Become a Family Archivist” project. One of the breakthrough moments that can be considered is the adoption of the Act on the National Archival Resources and Archives in 1983 and the institution of non-state archival resources introduced therein. However, the lack of an appropriate legal framework that would regulate cooperation between state archives and the non-public sector is also significant. The activities of social archives, including the KARTA Center Foundation, are also important for the issue discussed. It should also be noted that there is a growing interest in personal and family documentation resulting from the search for employment certificates and the popularization of genealogy. The increased interest in family archives has led to the establishment of consultation points in state archives and the organization of the “Become a Family Archivist” campaign. The Section of Family Archivists within the Association of Polish Archivist0s was also established.

Spuścizny rodzinne i rodowe w zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Warszawie

Author(s): Adrian Kossowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (103)/2023

The purpose of the article “Family and Ancestral Heritage| in the Resources of the State Archive in Warsaw” is to present the examples of developed archival collections found in the resources of the State Archive in Warsaw, classified in the archival records as “private archives and heritage”. In the content of the text the author raises many issues related to the unique nature of the content of such archival collections and the challenges associated with their organization in accordance with applicable archival regulations. Three family collections were used for the analysis: the Pawłowski family a rchive (association 72/3843/0), the Kroha family archive (association 72/1285/0), and the Dmochowski family archive (association 72/3876/0). Family histories were discussed in the light of the recorded files and commemorative documents, using additional source studies as contexts as a part of that analysis.

Exploiting Artificial Intelligence-Based and Standard Learning Management Systems in Blended and Distance-Learning Models

Author(s): Kateryna Osadcha,Natalia Shumeiko / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2024

In this article, the authors analyze the matters related to AI-based and standard learning management systems (LMSs), investigate their role in education, and note their relevance in the organization of students’ training at universities. The authors consider LMSs as resources in the teaching-learning process during the coronavirus pandemic when universities have entirely moved to online education, highlighting LMSs’ essential and fundamental relevance. Moodle and Claroline were instruments and online platforms that provided additional support to learners in a distance-learning mode at that period. Delivering knowledge to learners, tailoring the content of the study, and making educational materials available to learners are much more effective with the LMS, in our view, not only in the online mode but also in a blended learning format. The research contributes to an in-depth understanding of how AI-based and standard LMSs such as Moodle, Claroline, and EdApp help teachers monitor the learning process remotely and help students feel supported in learning.

Stereotypes Concerning Special Needs of Museum Visitors on the Example of the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Kraków

Stereotypes Concerning Special Needs of Museum Visitors on the Example of the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Kraków

Author(s): Katarzyna Zielińska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2024

Currently, there is a lot of talk pertaining to the special needs of museum visitors, and the ways of building dedicated exhibition spaces as well as preparing sightseeing tours The lack of financial resources means that these accessibility tools cannot be fully created. Stereotypes of visitors with special needs then appear. Museum professionals try to eliminate them, which is why they increasingly include people with disabilities in the process of creating workshops, lessons, exhibitions and other museum projects. The article is an attempt at moving beyond the stereotype itself – through joint learning – to be open to others. It also provides a case study done on the example of the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Kraków that describes several years of activity and the steps taken by the museum towards improving its accessibility.
