Historyczne założenia obronne, architectura militaris i LiDAR. Wybrane zagadnienia metodyczne z zakresu zastosowania skanowania laserowego w detekcji i inwentaryzacji nowożytnych fortyfikacji

Author(s): Rafał Zapłata / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2015

In recent years, research of defence structures, including modern fortifications, has been advanced by the possibility of verification and documentation of historic structures with the use of aerial laser scanning (ALS). The potential of those state-of-the-art methods is more and more often noticed in literature. Literature focuses so far on permanent fortifi cations and bases on generally known processing methods and visualisations of geodata, such as hill-shading. Thus, worth stressing is the potential and functionalities of ALS for research of field fortifications or destroyed, levelled and barely visible parts of military fortifications. With reference to research methodology, this article stresses the importance and potential not only of spatial analyses and ALS data, but also of their processing methods and of visualisations. The latter two, available in different formats, introduce a new element in the recognition, interpretation and documentation of modern defence structures. A separate aim of this article is to draw attention to growing possibilities of the analysed technology, especially to the so called fourth dimension – registration and analysis of the intensity of reflected laser radiation. The article analyses primarily chosen aspects of methodology connected with research and documentation of modern historic structures, based on laser scanning. It also stresses the efficacy of modern remote sensing technologies for research and protection of heritage, focusing on several important issues connected with the quality of data, their processing, analysis and interpretation and well as on the characteristic environment in which military structures are found – forested areas. Practice and experience acquired so far indicate that after an introductory period of implementing such methods, certain problems connected with the acquisition of data should be pointed out, along with several important research postulates connected with the usage and improvement of hitherto applied research practice. Th e article consists of four main sections: introduction, a section devoted to historic fortifications, technology of laser scanning and different kinds of data processing, and summary. The subject matter is referred to in the light of literature and of own research results, which include analyses of fortifications from the vicinity of Pakosław in Mazovia and of the Srebrna Góra Fortress in Lower Silesia. Research work funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the “National Programme for the Development of Humanities” in 2012–2015.

Waloryzacja dendrologiczna i estetyczna parku wiejskiego w Gardzienicach (woj. lubelskie)

Author(s): Zdzisław Kaczmarski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2014

This article presents results of the research conducted in country park located in Gardzienice, Lublin region. Study consisted in determining the dendrological value of the park using the Rokosza method and determining the esthetic value of park landscape using the SBE (scenic beauty estimation) method. Park was divided into four areas, for which dendrological and esthetic values were established. These values? Were compared to each other and no correlation was found between them. It has been shown, that the results of scenic beauty estimation and determining of the dendrological value of park, are not correlated to each other, so they can complement each other. So it is advisable to test the value of parks, both in terms of their dendrological and esthetic evaluation. This could form the basis for the development of a new comprehensive method of parks indexation.

Author(s): Sławomir Sobotka / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2015

This paper presents the results of a study for PhD thesis entitled: Spatial Development Within Olsztyn Suburban Area Against The Background Of Changes To Agricultural Landscape. The spatial range of the study covered 6 communes situated within Olsztyn suburban area. In order to address spatial changes, Decisions on building and land development conditions issued in the years 2004.2010 were analysed. Under the Act on spatial planning and development [Journal of Laws of 2003 No 80, item 717, as amended], the Decision on building and land development conditions has become an important instrument in spatial planning. In many villages or communes (mainly in communes of Purda and Jonkowo) located within Olsztyn suburban area, it has become the predominant means in land development. In the years 2004.2010, a total of 5308 Decisions on building and land development conditions were issued. The number of decisions issued indicated an increasing trend in the years 2004.2009. Most decisions (55 %) issued in the years 2004.2008 concerned the construction of single family houses. With the increase in the distance from the administrative boundaries of Olsztyn, the issue of Decisions on building and land development conditions for the construction of technical infrastructure is becoming predominant in villages.

Przyszłe obiekty katastru 3D w Polsce

Przyszłe obiekty katastru 3D w Polsce

Author(s): Jarosław Bydłosz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2017

The subject of a three-dimensional cadastre, commonly known as the 3D cadastre, appears more extensively since the workshop held in Delft in 2001. Since the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century, this subject has gained more and more popularity in Poland. As it is known, objects of the Polish cadastre are parcels, buildings and premises that are independent real estates. In the real world, a parcel is a surface where every point is determined by the coordinates (x, y, z). On the other hand, the building and the premises are solids or a group of solids. On the map the parcel and building are polygons (with possible enclaves), and the premises has a spatial reference only indirectly through the building in which it is located. Also in the cadastral database the building and the premises have attributes related to the third dimension, while the parcel is represented in the XY plane. The question arises as to whether in the future 3D cadastre, these objects will be the same objects, but in their description in the cadastral database z coordinate will be added, so that the parcel will be a three-dimensional surface, or a second variant should be chosen, where the parcel will be created as a solid and one of its attributes will be volume. These issues have been widely developed in the paper.

Among numerous elements of the Polish landscape, especially noteworthy are the roadside sacral objects. They are a testimony to national and local identity, and express centuries-old religious values. What is more, roadside crosses and shrines, surrounded by trees and shrubs, accentuate the space with exceptional decorative and cultural value. The presence of vegetation enriches the compositional value of these objects, complements their spatial structure, and highlights the aesthetic value. This paper presents the results of a study of regarding roadside sacral objects, carried out in the Trzydnik Duży Commune, Lublin Voivodeship. The study was performed as an inventory, enablingus to determine the species composition, health condition, and age of the dendroflora accompanying the roadside sacral objects. Within the studied area 73 roadside sacral objects were inventoried. It was found that 53 of them were surrounded by trees and shrubs that represent 42 species. The most common include limes, lilacs, and white cedars. Health condition of the dendroflora is varied, however 78% of the examined trees and shrubs are of very good or good health condition.

Author(s): Jan Kuryj,Ryszard Źróbek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2017

Since 2001, with varying intensity is upgraded of land and buildings register. The aim of this action is to transform this system in modern of land cadastre. Meet it is assumptions developed by the FIG and the FAO, as well as meet the growing demand for information in the management of space and be compatible with other systems gathering information about real estate. Modernization of this is also related to the construction in Poland of an integrated information system on real estate (ZSIN) and the adjustment of the range of information and data exchange formats to standards in the Member States of the European Union. A modernized land cadastre ultimately has to be the main source of information on the need for reform of the Polish system of property taxes and the backrest base its calculation of the value of the property. For this purpose, entered in the records of the land and buildings a new attribute: “cadastre value”. This value is still no practical dimension. The study proposed the recognition of the universal process of property taxation system, as well as reciprocal links and relationships with land and buildings register. Analyses the legal regulations for the presence in them of system flaws that impede the implementation of the procedures of mass appraisal of property. It was proposed the need to extend the scope of the information an upgraded land cadastre, in the direction of increasing its usefulness, as the main source of information, universal power of property taxation in the necessary data and information.

Problematyka przeciwdziałania zanieczyszczeniom powietrza w pracach projektowych urbanistów i architektów w kontekście wykorzystania infrastruktur i systemów informacji przestrzennej

Author(s): Anna Michalik,Agnieszka Zwirowicz-Rutkowska,Maja Wojtkiewicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2017

In many publications about urban planning and architecture there is indicated their interdisciplinary and multi-thematic character. One of the current headline in the mass media, and also the issue relating to spatial planning, is air pollution. When creating design studies and undertaking attempts by spatial planners and architects to include dedicated solutions allowing to prevent air pollution, at each stage of the work a very important issue is the selection and the quality of the data. Activities in the framework of the implementation of the various stages of work may be less labour intensive and more accurate, if the use of such solutions as spatial information infrastructures and systems is considered. The aim of the paper is to present, based on the work experience of the authors of this publication, the potential of the use of spatial information infrastructure and systems as sources of spatial data and analysis for the design work of planners and architects, connected with the improvement of the air quality, as well as to present, based on the literature review, examples of solutions that can be used to protect the air.

Changes and correlations in land-use structure within the administrative boundaries of a town – a case study

Changes and correlations in land-use structure within the administrative boundaries of a town – a case study

Author(s): Patrycja Szarek-Iwaniuk / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

Urban areas continuously evolve. The main drivers of spatial change in towns and cities are urbanization processes. The aim of this study was to analyze changes in the process of urban development spanning a period of 30 years and to analyze the correlations between the distribution of various land-use types. The results were compared with the land use balance made in the 1970s. In the present study, the distribution of different land use categories in urban space was mapped with very high accuracy. The results of this study validate that areas with specific functions tend to coexist, whereas other areas exist separately in different parts of the town. Active urbanization processes were observed in the analyzed town. Developed and urbanized areas (mainly with residential functions) were significantly expanded in the analyzed period. The spatial and functional structure of the analyzed town and its development potential within the administrative boundaries are influenced by the geographic location, which significantly obstructs further expansion of developed areas. The proposed methodology can be used to improve land management in urban areas and can be implemented in other spatial units.

Transformation of public space in rural areas - identification and assessment of the state of development in selected communes in the Greater Poland voivodeship

Author(s): Eliza Kalbarczyk / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

The purpose of the work was to identify public spaces occurring in rural areas of the Greater Poland voivodeship and to determine their specificity by identifying the manner and state of their development. The research material was the results of the inventory carried out in 2014-2018 in five communes: Drawsko, Jarocin, Kaczory, Komorniki and Zaniemyśl. The assessment of the state of the identified types of space showed the occurrence of large differences both between communes and the types of shared places studied. In the general assessment of the state of development of common spaces, the Komorniki commune was the best, the lowest marks were given to shared places in the Jarocin commune. Attention is drawn to the high repetition of very good grades for places such as: school playground, rural club room. It was proposed to separate the sports field as a separate type of new rural public space. In rural areas, more and more often you can find facilities usually associated with amenities available only to urban residents.

Geoinformation Support System for Real Estate Market

Geoinformation Support System for Real Estate Market

Author(s): Rafał Kaźmierczak / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

Investing in real estate is one of the major investment areas in the world. While buying real estate people often consider - apart from standard analysis like size, standard, age, equipment- location and market prices. There is no doubt that the access to a large set of data describing and presenting property environment at present, market participants (targeted users = buyers and sellers) use the services of intermediaries or real estate appraisers, which generate extra costs, or they conduct the research using their own computers or mobile devices. The main goal of idea is to create an automatically generated information system for real estate market members. The proposed solution can allow delivering filtered information to the user. It can be presented in conjunction with the location. The user can be able, while standing in or near the property. The proposed solution consists of: positioning based on the phone GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) receiver and radius specification. As a result, valuable information can be displayed in AR (Augmented Reality) technology or on a map where location and unit prices are visible.

Chosen statistical methods for the detection of outliers in real estate market analysis

Chosen statistical methods for the detection of outliers in real estate market analysis

Author(s): Beata Śpiewak / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

The paper contains the comparison of mechanism of two separately constructed statistical methods for the detection of outliers in real estate market analysis. For this purpose, databases with various types of real estate from local markets were created. Then the estimation of parameters of functional models describing dependencies prevailing on the examined markets was carried out. Subsequently, statistical tools called Baarda method and model residue analysis were used to detect outliers in the collected datasets. The last stage was a comparison of the obtained results of the parameters' estimation of the analyzed models and the measures of their quality, before and after the removal of outliers. The obtained results indicate that algorithms of chosen statistical methods, detecting outliers, allow to eliminate a smaller number of them, at the same time obtaining an improvement of the parameters of the functional model and its adjustment to the analyzed dataset. This gives the premise for the development of criteria for the selection of statistical methods that look for gross errors in the analyzed databases, among others, depending on functional model used, type of property and number of properties.

Starzenie się ludności w polskich miastach

Starzenie się ludności w polskich miastach

Author(s): Anna Janiszewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 29/2019

The inhabitants of cities and towns constitute more than 60% of the Polish population. The settlement system of Poland has a developed, multi-stage, hierarchical, urban structure, and the capital city has little advantage over other regional centres as compared with other European countries. Cities and towns, especially the latter, are evenly distributed over the area of the country. These features of the settlement system indicate its polycentrism. The demographic changes that have been observed in Poland for several decades, including population ageing, concern the inhabitants of cities, as well as large and small towns. However, both the level of population ageing in the urban units of varying sizes and the dynamics of this process are spatially diverse. The main purpose of this work is to determine the level and dynamics of population ageing in cities, large towns and small towns in Poland.

Zróżnicowanie przyrynkowej zabudowy i jej funkcji a typy genetyczne rynków w małych miastach województwa łódzkiego

Author(s): Paweł Nowicki / Language(s): Polish Issue: 30/2019

The aim of the study is to assess the public space of market squares in small towns of the Lodz Voivodeship diversity in the field of spatial development and the function of buildings around the town square. The goal and scope of the research is primarily dictated by small numer of similar studies in the literature on the subject. Recalling the genetic context of the elements of the urban structure is to constitute a starting point for reflection on contemporary differences in the spatial development and functions of buildings around the town square. In the paper were used methods from landscape research, city morphology and functionalism (functional structure). The most important data sources were urban inventories and historical maps from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The level of market square opening was assessed as well as the existing structure of the residential and service function according to gross floor area. In this respect, large variations were noted in the group of researched town squares. In some of the cities studied, the small number of buildings around the town square is still affected by the destruction of World War II. In the majority of the cities studied, services are the dominant function in buildings around the town square. The exception is the economically weakest Krośniewice, where the residential function dominate. The influence of historical factors, as well as the demographic and economic potential of cities, is noticeable on the contemporary condition of buildings around market square and its functions.

Author(s): Stanisław Mordwa / Language(s): Polish Issue: 30/2019

The main aim of this article is to present geographic profiling as a method useful in spatial analyses for the purpose of discovering criminals. It’s clear that distribution of crimes and the behaviours of criminals show certain spatial regularities, therefore, a geographical approach can be used to discover these offenders. In the following parts of the article the author presents theoretical and methodological foundations of geographical profiling, determinants of the effectiveness of spatial analyses and principles of creating geoprofiles. Based on the literature under review, criticism and limitations of the use of geographic profiling will be presented, but also the effectiveness of this method as an investigative technique will be demonstrated.

Decomposition of first births in Poland, according to timing of marriage and conception

Decomposition of first births in Poland, according to timing of marriage and conception

Author(s): Krzysztof Tymicki / Language(s): English Issue: 12/2018

Standard demographic analyses focus on changes in the share of marital and extra-marital births in the total number of births. The theory of the second demographic transition predicts that the increase in the share of extra-marital births is caused by a decrease in bridal pregnancies which were conceived premaritally, but born within marriage. The objective of the article is to analyse this issue through decomposition of data from the registration of births (1985—2016) provided by Statistics Poland into marital and extra-marital births as well as bridal pregnancies. In the analysed period, the results of the analyses show a constant decline in the share of bridal pregnancies, accompanied by a simultaneous increase in the share of extra-marital births and a slight increase in the share of marital births.
