Using Coevolution Genetic Algorithm with Pareto Principles to Solve Project Scheduling Problem under Duration and Cost Constraints

Using Coevolution Genetic Algorithm with Pareto Principles to Solve Project Scheduling Problem under Duration and Cost Constraints

Author(s): Budylskiy Alexandr Victorovich,Kvyatkovskaya Irina Yuryevna / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2014

This article considers the multicriteria optimization approach using the modified genetic algorithm to solve the project-scheduling problem under duration and cost constraints. The work contains the list of choices for solving this problem. The multicriteria optimization approach is justified here. The study describes the Pareto principles, which are used in the modified genetic algorithm. We identify the mathematical model of the project-scheduling problem. We introduced the modified genetic algorithm, the ranking strategies, the elitism approaches. The article includes the example.

GRAWITACYJNE MODELE HANDLU MIERZONEGO WARTOŚCIĄ BRUTTO ORAZ WARTOŚCIĄ DODANĄ – ANALIZA PORÓWNAWCZA

Author(s): Paweł Folfas / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2017

In this article similarities and differences between gravity models of gross trade and gravity models of value-added trade are discussed. Gravity models explaining value-added trade are characterized by the higher determination coefficients than gravity models illustrating gross trade. According to the estimation results, more intensive gross and value-added trade are accompanied by higher exporter’s and importer’s GDP and lower the difference in GDP per capita between trading partners. Additionally, shorter geographic distance, common official language and membership in the same regional trading arrangements are much more important for more intensive gross trade than for value added-trade.

LOGISTICS RISK IN MANAGEMENT OF PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT ENTERPRISES (EMPIRICAL RESEARCH FINDINGS)

Author(s): Piotr Tworek,Józef Myrczek / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2017

Risk is an inherent feature of property development projects conducted on the real estate market. Therefore, developers have to be able to manage risk using specific methods. This also refers to the category of logistics risk. In property development business, however, risk needs to be accurately identified before it can be quantified and adequate risk responses can be considered. These issues are addressed in the scientific paper, which aims to outline the risks encountered in the real estate market, with the focus on logistics risk. In particular, it constitutes an attempt to indicate possible applications of the risk management in property development enterprises as a way of supporting logistic activities undertaken by developers in investment processes. In addition to the theoretical deliberations, the findings of the empirical research conducted among the major property developers operating on the Polish market are presented.

Business intelligence agencies. What are they in fact? How do they understand economic intelligence? What is business intelligence? And what is it not according to the research? Who is the customer? And who is the object? And what are they looking for? At first I did not set the hypotheses, because the main goal of the research is to immerse and understand the mechanisms of the community on the basis of a „clean card”, not verifying the assumptions of the researcher. Bauman and Pilch write „negligible value of research hypotheses particularly highlighted in the ethnographic research, in which assumptions not only restricts the field of research, but is considered to be harmful, because it creates a false picture of the test of reality”. Despite the fact that during the research, I set a list of questions, I quickly managed to create research categories, under which the data collected is grouped, enabling to develop unambiguous conclusions. In the article, an image of the business intelligence market is defined, as well as an attempt to answer the question what organisations offering services like „economic intelligence” actually do, and what to look for when involving a detective.

Author(s): Michał Tomalak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2013

The compulsory receivership of an enterprise is a form of restriction of entrepreneurship as the debtor is deprived of the right to make business decisions. However this method of enforcement allows the creditor to satisfy his claims without the need of selling the enterprise. The enforcement is admissible, only, when the debtor acts as an entrepreneur and conducts his business as the enterprise i.e. he uses its tangible and intangible assets for the purposes of his business activity. The enforcement may apply to part of the enterprise if this part can be used to conduct it’s business separately from the main enterprise and if any revenue generated from the compulsory receivership of this part of the debtor’s assets is sufficient to satisfy any claims enforced by creditors. The enforcement is conducted by a court acting as the enforcement authority, where the receivership of the enterprise is conducted by a compulsory receiver who cannot be its creditor. The court appoints a specialized entity as the compulsory receiver who can be either a natural person or a legal persona. The aim of the receiver is to generate income from the business conducted by the enterprise. The receiver is liable to dismissal if it the receivership is improperly conducted. In the enforcement of compulsory receivership of the enterprise the receiver is responsible for making a plan for the settlement of creditors.

Engineering patterns of supply chain optimization to manage oscillation effect

Author(s): Thokozani Patmond Mbhele / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2017

The cascading order variability from downstream trumping up the upstream site of the supply chain network indicates the deleterious effect to the performance of the fast moving consumer goods industry. The fundamental likelihood to optimization in this industry requires dexterous flows of quasi-real-time information, as well as reliable product availability. In this context, this study analyzes the challenges of bullwhip effect on the perspective of ingenious optimization strategies, and further contemplates to establish the engineering patterns of interrelationships on the magnitude of pooling the resources to advance supply chain capabilities. The suppression of bullwhip effect on underlying optimization strategies is sought to elevate accelerated responsiveness, improve network demand visibility and reduce volatility in frequencies to inventory replenishment. A rigorous and disciplined quantitative approach afforded the tentatively development of pattern of interrelated supply chain dimensions. The factor analysis method was used on 448 responses and insightful findings were produced from the compelling purposive sampling technique. The findings indicate that the magnitude of better ameliorating bullwhip effect, the value of competitive economic information and strength of selected optimization strategies depend on the model of unified engineering patterns. This paper provides insights to FMCG industry on using innovative strategies and modern technology to enhance supply chain visibility through integrated systems networks.
