Cari İşlemler Dengesi Fiyat İstikrarını Sağlar mı? Türkiye Ekonomisi için Fourier Alandan Kanıtlar

Cari İşlemler Dengesi Fiyat İstikrarını Sağlar mı? Türkiye Ekonomisi için Fourier Alandan Kanıtlar

Author(s): Tayfur Bayat,Şerife Merve Koşaroğlu / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 2/2022

Price instability and current account imbalance have been the main trouble in the Turkish economy for many years. The applied policies that designate economic growth as the primary target with the purpose of providing economic stability, devaluations upon exchange rate shocks that happened at different periods and related economic uncertainty as well as the instability stemming from the public sector paved the way for inflation and current deficit. Prolonged inflation and current deficit constituted an enormous impediment to economic growth. Central Bank’s association of current balance and price stability for their recent policy preferences drew attention to the relation between these two variables. For this reason, the 1974-2020 current account balance – gross national product ratio and the relationship between current account balance and inflation are analyzed through the Fourier cointegration test. Fourier cointegration test results provide evidence for the existence of a long-term relationship between the variables. With the Fourier causality test, on the other hand, while it has been approved that there is causality from inflation to current account balance, the causality from current account balance to inflation has been rejected.

Dynamics of insolvencies/registrations of entities in correlation with wage costs

Dynamics of insolvencies/registrations of entities in correlation with wage costs

Author(s): Mihail Alin Stanciu / Language(s): English Issue: 12/2022

The paper aims to investigate the nature of the relationship between insolvencies or registrations and the wage cost in Romania. The study uses monthly / annual data covering the period 2014 – October 2019. In order to investigate the short and medium term dynamics of insolvencies, enrolments and the influence of wage costs, the data collected for the mentioned period will be examined, highlighting the causal links between the three concepts at the level of the country as well as in the field of constructions. This study highlights the existence of a relationship between the three variables, but it does not provide certainty regarding the information about the direction and meaning of this causal link. The subject deserves to be investigated from the perspective of the existence of a “long term equilibrium” property, for the pair of registration and insolvency variables. The question we can answer by means of looking for actual relationships is whether there is a connection between the registrations and insolvencies of the entities in a certain field. The result of the study reflects a very similar evolution of the insolvency pairs – insolvencies in the field of construction, registrations – registrations in the field of construction, registrations – insolvencies.

Author(s): Ioana Marinela Gavriluță Turtă / Language(s): English Issue: 12/2022

Smart City’s role is to improve urban life through sustainable integrated solutions and address city-specific challenges in various policy areas, such as energy, mobility and transport, and ICT, which must also be effectively implemented. Smart City relies on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to sustainably develop urban spaces and limit the negative effects of urbanization. Globally, there is a trend to promote the concept of Smart City as a solution for urban areas in efficient and sustainable development, without affecting the environment. Author(s): Sevinç Güler Özçalık,Binali Selman Eren / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 01/2022

In this study, the reaction of investors to the tourism stock market indices of the COVID-19 epidemic was analyzed by the "event study" method. In this context, three events representing the development of the COVID-19 epidemic were identified in the study. First event date of the first infected case outside of China in Thailand (13 January 2020); the second event was the outbreak of the epidemic in Italy (21 February 2020); and the third event, the date (March 11, 2020) when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global epidemic and the USA restricted travel to 26 European countries. These are STOXX Travel & Leisure Global index, STOXX Travel & Leisure Asia-Pacific index, STOXX Travel & Leisure Europe index and STOXX Travel & Leisure North America index. The results of the analysis show that, in general, investors reacted negatively to the COVID-19 outbreak according to market returns (MSCI ACWI). When analyzed by regions, it is seen that the highest losses in all event windows are experienced in the European tourism index.

Kriz Yönetimi ile Çalışan Performansı Arasındaki İlişkide Paternalist Liderin Aracı Etkisi

Author(s): Ayşegül Düzgün / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 01/2022

Organizations are faced with many crises originating from both internal and external factors. Reducing the negative effects caused by the crises or turning the crisis into an opportunity is related to the crisis management process. Perhaps the most important factor in the crisis management process is the management style of the manager responsible for crisis management. The crisis management approach exhibited by the leader responsible for crisis management will make the employees feel safe, and the employee who feels safe will carry out his activities as a part of the crisis management process. This will result in an increase in performance. In this context, in this study, the effects of the paternalist leader, which is a leadership approach suitable for Turkish culture, on the relationship between crisis management and employee performance were investigated. The sample of the study consists of two call centers operating in Erzurum in 2019. Data were collected from a total of 141 employees using the survey technique. The obtained data were subjected to regression and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, it has been found that the paternalist leader has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between crisis management and employee performance.

Sosyal Medyada İşveren Çekiciliği: Çalışan Kullanımı Üzerine Nitel Bir Analiz

Author(s): Tolga Şentürk,Murat Can Başaran / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 01/2022

For businesses or brands operating on social media platforms, the best way to understand their current and potential target audiences is to analyze the shares they have made and the interactions they have achieved. In the analyzes made in this context, most of the time, the posts are collected under certain categories and then subjected to qualitative analysis. This method was used in our research and the categories of “Employee Usage”, “Company News”, “Success” and “Social Responsibility” were created. Then, these categories were analyzed on the basis of time and sample in terms of interaction numbers and rates. In the analysis made, it was determined that the most number of posts and interactions occurred in the "Employee Usage" category. However, it is important to include an evaluation focused on the number of followers in these analyzes. The research found that more followers don't always mean higher engagement rates. It has been revealed that evaluating the performance together with the interaction rates with a focus on the number of followers will lead to more meaningful results.

Друштвеноекономски аспекти управљања организационим променама

Author(s): Jelena Đ. Premović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2022

Radical changes faced by human society in the second half of the twentieth century had their repercussions on enterprises, imposing a new business philosophy of organizational behaviour and action as an imperative for success. The strategic approach in change management and human resource (HR) management has taken the place of the dominant management paradigm. It emphasizes the importance of the active attitude of the enterprises towards changes, which implies the processes of anticipating, initiating, creating, and introducing new changes in the daily business life of the enterprises. The organizational changes represent constant challenges for HR managers, too. Acceptance and active participation in changes significantly affects the business success of the enterprises and society as a whole. In addition to a positive attitude towards change, employees feel and show a negative attitude in the form of resistance to the organizational change. Therefore, managers face a very serious problem on a daily basis, how to overcome various resistances to changes in employees. The basic assumption that is made when implementing the process of change management and HR management in modern enterprises is that the human resources of the enterprises are the most important intangible business resources which have strategic importance for achieving competitive advantages. Based on this knowledge, the paper analyses the process of change management and the relationship to change. The attitude towards change is analysed both from the perspective of the enterprises, HR managers, and from the perspective of employees. For that purpose, relevant theoretical material was used, as well as adequate scientifically based methodology in the form of methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparative and historical methods.Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that HR managers play a key role in managing organizational change and overcoming various employee resistances to change. That is the reason why they must be able to recognize and understand the basic tendencies of change and potential resistance of employees in order to generate and mobilize the available potentials for initiating and realizing future changes.

Does Organizational Culture Influence Job Satisfaction? A Comparative Analysis of Two Multinational Companies

Author(s): Nicoleta Isac,Cosmin Dobrin,Lufuno Patience Raphalalani,Mariama Sonko / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2021

Organizational culture of an organization is paramount to the management and coordination of business operations in an organization. The type of organizational culture in an organization being strong or weak will have an influence on employees’ job satisfaction and performance. It is noticeably observed that employees perform well in an environment that they feel satisfied with, and the level of satisfaction derived can be an antecedent of the corporate culture being implemented in the organization. Adopting a literature review approach, the purpose of the study was to analyse the organizational culture two multinational companies in relations to their employees’ job satisfaction. Thus, the study is conducted with the objective of analysing the corporate cultures of these two technology giant companies in terms of their employees’ job satisfactions. By utilizing a qualitative research method, we found that both companies’ corporate cultures contain relevant elements that are necessary for employees’ job satisfactions. Also, to some extend both companies have significant similarities in terms of their corporate cultures. As a limitation, the study is unable to determine which company has superior corporate culture than the other in terms of employees’ job satisfaction. Thus, we suggest similar studies to be conducted on the topic with the use of organizational culture profile (OCP) survey instrument in determining the corporate cultures of the two companies in relations to their employees’ job satisfaction and performance.

Author(s): Maria Frangieh,Daniel Rusus / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2021

Nowadays, where everything in the business world looks like collapsing, leaders stand out by efficiently exploiting resources, especially human capital. Primary and secondary data were used. Primary data was collected via a small survey conducted at three dairy manufacturing Lebanese SMEs, and was analyzed using SPSS. The survey depended on a small, structured, six-sections questionnaire sent to employees occupying managerial positions. In total, 15 questionnaires were sent. Only 12 were returned and analyzed. This article’s results claps hands to the theories in literature that indicate the existence of a positive relationship between the carrot and stick approach and motivation.

Organisational Dynamics Founded on the Cross-Functional Development

Author(s): Laura Dinca,George Teodor Mitu / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2021

This paper presents the issues encountered in the adoption of the crossfunctional organization type by the modern enterprises, since the old bureaucratic organization is not any more suitable to the present environment complexity. Apparently, the cross-functional organization seems to be a utopia, due to its difficult implementation. The cross-functional organization is possible only when an enterprise is able to develop cross-functional states of action: decomposition and recomposition of processual organization, of enterprise assembly and of structural organization. An achievable solution for the cross-functional organization of the enterprise is possible if the cohabitation between the old and new organization types of is preserved. The system of cross-functional organization may include the subsystems: operational, information and communication, and instrumental. The cross-functional organization also requires a careful investigation of its internal and external environment.

The CEO and the Community-Center's Performance: The Moderating Role of Community Awareness

Author(s): Esther Etti Isler,Doina Danaiata,Violet Săcui,Ana Năstase / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2021

Third sector organizations are having more responsibilities than ever, responsibilities that once were under governmental liabilities (i.e., the first sector). The community center is one of the leading third sector organizations. These centers are part of the community, mainly operating non-formal education activities but also cultural and sports events and more. Although accumulating scientific evidence shows that the CEO has a pivotal role in shaping the organization's performance in business organizations, research concerning the CEO's role in the community center's performance is scant. Here we focused on the CEO's performance and hypothesized that it would reflect in the organizational performance. Further, since, in nature, the community center should be an integral part of the community, we also assessed the role of the CEO's community awareness. We surveyed 164 CEOs, employees, and board members of 55 community centers across Israel to examine our hypotheses. We measured the CEO's performance and community awareness, and the center's success as it reflects in participants' perceptions. As hypothesized, we found that both CEO's performance and community awareness positively correlate with the center's performance. Moreover, we found an interaction effect such that community awareness moderates the CEO's performance and the center's performance relationships. A simple slope analysis revealed that the correlation between the CEO's performance and the center's performance relationship is more robust for CEOs with high community awareness. We discuss theoretical and practical implications for the selection of CEOs.

Strategies and Strategic Orientation in Romanian SMEs

Author(s): Daniel Rusu / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2021

The main objective of this article is represented by the recognition and detection, within the Romanian SMEs, of the main sources of competitive advantage. Regardless of the sector and their size, the main priority of market-oriented companies is to gain a competitive advantage. Because for the development and growth of SMEs, the business environment in Romania is not motivating enough, the article highlights the role that strategic orientation has in the development and promotion of business. In many cases, the main source of the competitive advantage of SMEs in Romania is generally represented by costs, ie they identify and obtain a competitive advantage by offering services but also products of medium quality and at a low price. Romanian SMEs are oriented towards innovation. Product innovations are specific to small enterprises and medium-sized enterprises are mainly focused on process innovations.

Sustainable energy and development of renewable energy sources in Żywiec District (Silesian Voivodeship)

Sustainable energy and development of renewable energy sources in Żywiec District (Silesian Voivodeship)

Author(s): Arkadiusz Halama / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

Climate change and human activity are the main threats to rural areas and surrounding cities. The effects of climate change are mainly an increasing temperature, but also the intensity and frequency of extreme events. Climate change and its consequences are a growing problem. One of the ways to mitigate climate change, improve the quality of the natural environment and meet international obligations is sustainable energy management and the use of renewable energy sources (the RES). The aim of the study was to evaluate the energy economy, in particular the use of the RES in the Żywiec district in 2015–2020. In the rural areas of the Żywiec district, the preferred RES are solar energy (for all communities), energy from biomass and biogas from agricultural biogas plants. It has been assumed that the increase in the use of renewable energy (in this case PV installations) in the areas in question was mainly caused by the economic incentives. After the initial period (2015–2018) of lack of interest, there was a significant increase in the number of RES installations installed. PV installations prevailed. After the analysis, it seems that the increase in interest and installation of PV installations was mainly due to attractive, local subsidy programs, which significantly improved operational efficiency and shortened the payback time on investments in photovoltaic micro-installations. The adopted hypothesis was confirmed.
