INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC TRANSLATORS TRAINING IN BUSINESS FIELD: CASE STUDY OF THE NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY

INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC TRANSLATORS TRAINING IN BUSINESS FIELD: CASE STUDY OF THE NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY

Author(s): Nadezhda Paskova,Svetlana Voronova,Natalia Sivtseva,Irina Shilnikova / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2021

The article discusses the issues of industry-specific translation training in the sphere of business at a non-linguistic educational institution. First of all, the urgency of designing innovative vocational translation courses, meeting the requirements of the rapidly changing world, is grounded by the authors. It is based on the necessity of implementing the principles of Bologna process, namely, of the principle of Lifelong Learning (LLL). Then, the authors present literature reviews necessary for conducting the research which state that business discourse is considered as part of economic discourse and describe its main characteristics that should be taken into account while teaching and training students-translators. In order to illuminate peculiarities and problematic issues connected with translators training the authors investigate specific features of business translation, such as translation of proper names, addresses, names of the companies and their products, companies legal forms, etc., and some translation techniques used to cope with the existing problems. Finally, the vocational training program "Translator in the Sphere of Professional Communication" implemented at the International Institute of Economics and Linguistics of Irkutsk State University is described, including the professional competences to be formed, subjects aimed at the development of students' translation skills, methods of control and assessment, etc. It is argued that such programs are rational and justified by the fact that the students have better prerequisites for being competent translators due to having special economic and business knowledge, and its graduates meet the needs of the modern labour market including the development of their hard and soft skills.

E-LEARNING PLATFORM OF ECO-DESIGN IN TEXTILE AND FASHION SECTORS TOWARDS A CIRCULAR TEXTILE

E-LEARNING PLATFORM OF ECO-DESIGN IN TEXTILE AND FASHION SECTORS TOWARDS A CIRCULAR TEXTILE

Author(s): Manuela Avădanei,Dana Belakova,Raquel Ortega Martínez,Rita Souto,Natasa Sivevska,Erwan Mouazan / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2021

In the fashion and textile industry, each item’s production process consists of at least two stages: design and manufacture. The design stage is the conceptual phase in which all necessary attributes are defined, developed and created (according to the purpose of the product or fashion trends). The manufacturing phase is the one in which the design patterns are turned into a final product by using different categories of materials, equipment, labour force, energy, water, etc. Unfortunately, the textile industry is one of the most polluting ones because it uses a significant amount of raw materials, water and energy. This means that besides its nice products, it also produces a significant amount of waste and CO2 emissions. Under these circumstances, some changes in this type of business are necessary in order to transition from a linear business model in which products are purchased, used, and disposed of to a circular business model, which allows the reintegration of what is initially regarded as waste into different types of manufacturing processes for the purpose of obtaining new materials and products. The design phase is the key step that makes this transition possible. The European Commission supports initiatives that aim at finding sustainable resources, innovating the production flow, and preserving natural resources. The “Innovative design practices for achieving a new textile circular sector, Acronym Design4Circle” project, funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices, KA202 - Strategic Partnerships for vocational education and training, aims at covering the skill gaps in eco-innovation of European designers of textile and fashion products in order to enable them to adapt to the circular model. This paper presents the main objective of the project: creating an innovative learning curriculum in line with the textile and fashion industry designers’ needs that is incorporated into an e-learning platform. The e-learning tool is the result of the collaborations of faculty members, researchers and other specialists in the field of the textile and fashion industry. Its content is well-suited for VET trainers, students, managers, technicians, and entrepreneurs who wish to acquire the competencies and skills necessary to implement new ecodesign practices and circular economy principles in the fashion and textile industry.

THE POWER OF REWARDS - CASE STUDY

THE POWER OF REWARDS - CASE STUDY

Author(s): Ramona-Cristina Balanescu / Language(s): English Issue: 02/2021

We live in a modern, dynamic and ever-changing society. Thus, the organisations, the Managers, as well as the Employees must adapt. The change is an on-going challenge, materialised through modernisation/ progress / development. The 21st century employee provides modern working spaces, state-of-the-art technology, new management and communication strategies, as well as modern employee motivating and rewarding methods. Throughout their personal or professional pathway, the individuals are motivated by certain goals and objectives they set for themselves. The Manager’s task is to identify the Employees’ reasons and coordinate them towards reaching performance. Furthermore, appropriately rewarding the Employees can lead to recording better results within the organisation they are a part of. The employees may be motivated by being granted both financial and non-financial rewards by the Employers. If, for certain employees, the financial rewards are enough, for others, receiving non-financial rewards may increase their intrinsic satisfaction. Some indicators of such are: satisfying their needs of affiliation to a group or to a team, understanding and successfully accomplishing the allocated work tasks. Receiving encouragements will lead to an increase in the Employee’s confidence, which will determine, in turn, an increase in the degree of complexity of the performed tasks, and their climbing the corporate ladder, respectively. Which are the best solutions for the Managers who wish their company survived by providing high-quality product/services, while counting on the high-quality of their employees? How are the ones staying with the firm motivated not to leave for the competition or go West, where the financial, political and social stability leads to a safer and more relaxing life? These are the focus of the case study described in the article herein.

ONLINE REVIEW MANAGEMENT ON SAAS COMPARISON PLATFORMS: CASE STUDY CAPTERRA

Author(s): Cătălin-George Alexe,Cătălina-Monica Alexe,Dan Dumitriu,Ioan Cristian Mustață / Language(s): English Issue: 02/2021

In order for a company to support its development ideas regarding the products and services offered, it needs data from customers. Online reviews are usually seen as a good source of unbiased information to reveal the needs of shoppers and industry trends. The promotion method was visible at the beginning in the B2C world, and in recent years it has also grown in the B2B area. In the online environment, the competition between companies offering software solutions is very high, and their reviews or lack of them can be the decisive factor for a potential customer who analyzes a variety of software. Under these conditions, there have been arisen the evaluation and review platforms dedicated to software for companies such as: Capterra, GetApp, G2 Crowd, SoftwareAdvice, etc. These platforms where SaaS (software-as-a-service) solutions are classified, listed and evaluated have become the preferred places for B2B decision makers to analyze, compare and choose software to solve problems. Many companies are aware of the existence of these SaaS comparison platforms, but do not know quite well how they work, because the platforms have different business models. The paper aims to present the online review management practiced by the Capterra platform whose success consists in the quantity and quality of the reviews, in the existence of very strict criteria for software selection and a detailed process for verifying false reviews. SaaS comparison platforms help building a positive reputation for a product, not limited to the information resources provided by the software solution provider on its website. Buyers are involved in finding relevant references to make informed decisions and spend less time in the suppliers’ demonstrations and evaluation meetings.

EVALUATION OF THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL NETWORKS: COMPARISON OF INFORMATION SERVICES AND RECOMMENDATION SYSTEMS OF LINKEDIN AND VIADEO

EVALUATION OF THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL NETWORKS: COMPARISON OF INFORMATION SERVICES AND RECOMMENDATION SYSTEMS OF LINKEDIN AND VIADEO

Author(s): Omar Larouk,Marina. V. Garanovich / Language(s): English Issue: 02/2021

The use of social media has grown rapidly in recent years, but analytical work is still dominated by the motivations of members to join social media. However, we believe that the issue of valuing the services provided by these social networks should be analyzed and compared to other information services offered by libraries, especially within the framework of professional networking sites (for example, LinkedIn, Viadeo). Future avenues of research and the implications of the framework developed are discussed, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of these professional networking sites. LinkedIn (https://fr.linkedin.com/ ) and Viadeo (https://viadeo.journaldunet.com/ ) are based on the same principle, they are professional social networks intended to create an essentially professional network. LinkedIn claims over 660 million members from 170 industries in over 200 countries and territories and over 19 million users in France. LinkedIn is acquired by Microsoft to counter the French social network Viadeo. Viadeo is a French professional social network online since 2004 which allows building and aggregating its network of contacts, in order to facilitate dialogue between professionals. Like LinkedIn, it is also an e-reputation (online reputation) or personal marketing management tool, which attracts a greater number of types of senior and professional profiles. In 2020, Viadeo claims 8 million members in France among companies and students. Both portals have the same business model across advertising, subscriptions and recruiting services. We will focus our assessment on macro criteria as essential: - ergonomics services, information retrieval services, personalized access services, documentation services, participatory services, networking services

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN MAINSTREAM SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGIES

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN MAINSTREAM SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGIES

Author(s): Andrei-Adrian Dinu,Mihaela-Aura Duican,Roberto-Catalin Raducu,Costin-Anton Boiangiu / Language(s): English Issue: 02/2021

A lot of companies lost money because they chose the wrong software development methodology. For example, Knight Capital Group lost $440 million in 30 minutes when its trading software flooded the market with erratic trades. The bug was the result of a faulty development cycle that did not account for communication about possible errors and adequate testing before the product was launched. That’s why choosing the right system and style of management is the key to successful software development. Today, we have many approaches, and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. It’s a difficult and crucial task for future or ongoing projects to choose the most suitable strategy as well as define objectives, budget, and deadlines. The following article analyses the main differences and characteristics of the most popular software development methodologies with emphasis on performance, meeting deadlines, and team morale. The results are synthesized from a survey completed by more than 100 IT&C domain professionals based on their expertise and will be interpreted using a statistical approach. The objective of this study is to determine which methodologies tend to produce the best results regarding the team’s main goals. It was targeted a wide array of IT professionals, emphasizing their experience level in the industry, regarding both the time in which they applied a certain methodology to a project and how applying it affected the project’s success. Through this research, we hope to provide a clearer view of the outcome of the usage of different methodologies in various endeavors, so that, before starting a software development project, the best way for organizing it will be chosen.

DESIGN THINKING FOR BUSINESS INNOVATION

DESIGN THINKING FOR BUSINESS INNOVATION

Author(s): Ancuta Florentina Gheorghe,Ioana Andreea Ștefan,Hariklia Tsalapatas,Olivier Heidmann / Language(s): English Issue: 01/2021

Whether in an educational or a professional setting, collaboration plays a major part in value creation, as it fosters creativity and innovative thinking, enriching decision-making processes and widening the approach to include different perspectives. Design Thinking has become an increasingly popular collaboration method as it focuses on problem solving and user-centric based strategies, where the participants can identify challenges, participate in brainstorming sessions to gather information, generate potential solutions, refine them and in then test the chosen solution. Starting from this methodology, this paper presents the relevance and the advantages of using Design Thinking as a tool in the first stage of the designing process of a software solution. To substantiate the proposed approach, an innovative online collaborative tool, the DT4S platform, has been used. The authors highlight the capability of the platform to stimulate the creative process and the engagement of the design team through brainstorming sessions. The paper describes the process of implementing a brainstorming activity using the DT4S platform, following the five stages of the Design Thinking methodology: emphasize, define, ideate, prototype and test. It exemplifies how this methodology can be incorporated in a software design process, to ensure a qualitative and easy to follow workflow for each member of the design team, mitigating the risk of solution driven changes that can occur during the software design process. The objectives defined by the team leader were analysed for each of the stages along with the inputs that were brought on the platform, which represent the entire interaction between the team members, and the outputs that represent the results obtained after participating in brainstorming sessions. Following the experiment, the authors discuss key gamification techniques that could be applied to enrich the collaborative approach of the DT4S Platform.

CAD/CAM FOR JACQUARD WEAVING - THE PATH FROM DESIGN TO WOVEN FABRIC

CAD/CAM FOR JACQUARD WEAVING - THE PATH FROM DESIGN TO WOVEN FABRIC

Author(s): Niki Vlad Mancași,Irina Cristian / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2020

Jacquard woven fabrics are a special type of textile materials, which distinguish themselves from regular woven fabrics by the bigger amount of detail that can go into a large-size design. The weaving principle is mostly the same, requiring at least a set of weft yarns (picks) and a set of warp yarns(ends), but the way the ends are handled is what actually makes the difference. In Jacquard weaving, each warp yarn is controlled individually by a hook, rather than by a frame which also incorporates several other yarns, as in normal weaving. Therefore, a difference in the technology needed is also noticeable. We stand on the brink of the fourth industrial revolution, that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work and relate to one another. With that being said, digitalisation is something one must be aware of at all times. The emergence of electronic Jacquard mechanisms has made possible the large-scale use of CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing) systems for creating and producing fabrics with complex designs. The introduction of software to this process was a major turning point, reducing the amount of time needed to create the design and generate the card which controls the weaving machine. Nevertheless, precision has also increased, meaning that the software is able to correct human errors, going through each and every binding point and float. Furthermore, IoT (Internet of Things) encompasses a better communication between machines and a seamless wireless exchange of data between the computer where everything is created and the machines. The paper focuses on the methodology of designing and production of original patterns for double weft jacquard woven fabrics, using the Affinity Designer software for designing the repeat unit and the NedGraphics bundle (Texcell, LoomEditor, Weave Editor and Product Creator) for generating the card. A detailed description of the whole process will be provided to the reader, from the initial design file (.jpg or .png) to the generation of the final card (.ep file). It stimulates the curiosity and imagination of both textile engineering and fashion design students through eLearning, giving them a better look inside the whole process of turning their creations into actual products. It also challenges their capability of dealing with several issues and limitations of both software and hardware. The designed fabrics were realised on a Picanol loom equipped with a Bonas electronic Jacquard head, using 2400 hooks.

A HISTORICAL VIEW ON THE RELEVANCE OF MUSIC FOR SOCIETY IN AN ENTREPRENEURIAL APPROACH

Author(s): Oana-Mihaela Bălan-Budoiu / Language(s): English Issue: 23/2022

The majority of authors who have studied the phenomenon of cultural entrepreneurship have attempted to demonstrate how market conditions and society in general have the power to shape the performances of artistic products, in terms of economical and community relevance. The entrepreneurial concept is linked to the desire for innovation, for transcending conventional traditional practices and knowledge, by focussing creative interests on the real needs expressed by cultural consumers and audiences of concert halls. This research wishes to provide a synoptic view on the existence of this socio-economic phenomenon throughout music history, and thus to show that professional music has almost always been sensitive towards the needs of society, and has succeeded in remaining useful and productive for long periods of time.

Аспекти на счетоводното отчитане и анализа на инвестиционните имоти

Author(s): Rositsa Ivanova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

The issue of investment properties is relevant at all stages of development of the enterprises. Investment properties may comprise land or building, or part of a building, or both, held by their owners rather for gaining rental revenue or increasing the value of the enterprise’s capital. The owners do not hold investment properties for using them in the production or delivery of goods or services, or for administrative purposes, or for sale within the ordinary course of the enterprises’ business. Real estates (land or buildings) are reported as investment properties due to their specific purpose and features when used by the owners. Investment properties generate cash flows that are different and at the same time independent from the economic benefits that enterprises expect to generate from the other assets they hold and manage. The object of this study refers to the criteria for recognition of investment properties for accounting purposes, their initial measurement upon acquisition and their subsequent measurement. The subject of the study covers the main economic operations related to the enterprises’ investment properties. Thus, the requirements for disclosure of information for such type of long-term financial assets in the enterprises’ financial statements are determined. This publication is aimed at suggesting a methodology for analysis of the enterprises’ investment properties on the basis of the information presented in the financial statements.

Енергийните обекти като недвижими имоти – специфики и характеристики

Author(s): Lyubomir Tsvetanov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

The article discusses energy sites like real estate and their specifics and economic characteristics. As energy sites are always permanently attached to the land, according to Bulgarian law, they are equated to real estate, and the transfer of ownership must be in notarized form. Therefore, to define the energy sites in detail and derive their characteristics, they should be considered a specific type of real estate. Energy sites are subject to special supervision, and their owners can only be energy companies. Like all real estate, energy sites have the character of economic goods, as they are created as a result of human activity and to meet specific needs in society - production, transportation, storage, and distribution of energy. They are tangible fixed assets and can also be characterized as a particular type of capital and a special type of goods in rare cases

Приложение на въртелив тип борсови графики за сравнение на относителното представяне на жилищните цени в най-големите градове в България

Author(s): Petar Ivanov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

This article aims to present the concept behind the so-called Relative Rotation Graphs (RRGs), which dynamically compare the relative performance and potential for growth of selected assets. These kinds of graphs are built upon a Cartesian coordinate system divided into four quadrants according to the values of two indicators (scales): Relative Strength Ratio and Relative Strength Momentum. The former allows the relative value of the observed asset to be estimated against the average for the respective sector (or other benchmark), while the latter – to find out the direction and the pace by which the changes in the former ratio take place. Moreover, the already mentioned dynamics is displayed by depicting the shifts in the asset performance across time periods. Its trajectory of movement between the quadrants, defined by the points for each period, resembles in many cases the form of rotation (clockwise elliptical motion). In addition, the main goal of the article is to demonstrate how the presented concept of the RRGs, which have been gaining popularity in stock trading recently, can be applied on house prices as well. Its advantages are that it makes it visible by how much a selected asset (or index) is over or underpriced and it gives a clue for the possible changes in the price over the next time period. In this context and by using normalized statistical data from NSI, we can construct the relative rotation of the house price indices for the six biggest cities in Bulgaria – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse and Stara Zagora, over a time period of two years. Conclusions from the observed trends and differences across cities are also outlined.

Концепцията за сгради с близко до нулево потребление на енергия в контекста на европейска и национална политика за енергийна ефективност

Author(s): Veselina Mircheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

Reducing the dependence of economic growth on input resources and increasing efficiency in their use aims to support the transition to a low-carbon economy, increase the share of energy used from renewable energy sources and modernize a number of sectors, promoting energy efficiency. Energy efficiency is a key prerequisite for ensuring sustainability in the use of energy resources. In this context, the concept of nearly zero-energy buildings is emerging, which not only promotes energy efficiency by renovating and modernizing the building stock, but also increases the share of renewable energy used by households and the public sector, such as reduces anthropogenic pressures on the environment and affects the negative processes of climate change - the main goals set in European environmental and energy policies. This article examines the policy at European and national level regarding nearly zero-energy buildings, as part of the set goals in the field of energy efficiency, outlining the position of Bulgaria

IMPACT OF THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES' PROGRESS ON THE GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT'S EVOLUTION AT THE LEVEL OF ROMANIA, EA19 AND EU28

Author(s): Nela Loredana Caraba Meita,Florin Dinca,Anca Alina Buziernescu / Language(s): English Issue: 37/2021

The economic performance of a state can be determined through a multitude of means, reporting and procedures, using for this purpose certain series of data on various economic indicators. In this article, the authors highlight the relationship between two indicators that are very important, from an economic point of view, for quantifying the economic performance of a country, more explicitly the average number of employees and the gross domestic product. The analysis of the relationship between the previously mentioned economic indicators is based on the use of simple linear regression, using a data set related to the period 2010 - 2018, which was determined with the help of a specialized computer program. In the analysis, the resultant variable (dependent) was considered to be GDP, while the factorial variable (independent) was considered to be the average number of employees' progress. The veracity of the analyzed econometric model was verified with the help of specific tests, whose returned values are significant for the analyzed data series, while respecting the specific hypotheses of simple linear regression.
