This article explores the vital role and practice of hospitality and welcoming in parish ministry within a missionary setting. Despite its importance, hospitality is often poorly executed, particularly towards newcomers to the church. Visitors who enter a parish church may be ignored, no one speaks to them and their presence may even go completely unnoticed. This article examines the biblical and traditional understanding of hospitality as well as strategies employed by mission-minded and thriving churches to effectively practice it. Through theological reflection, we uncover overlooked and essential aspects of this ministry. Parish leaders and volunteers will find many practical and innovative ways to implement welcoming and hospitality in their parishes in an evangelical and missionary way.

This article deals with the newest history of the Church’s efforts to improve the qual- ity of homilies. The source material is the texts contained in documents from various synods in the 21st century dealing with the issue of homilies and documents from various stages of the synod on synodality, as well as the published results of research conducted by theologians in Poland on some given homilies. The conducted analyzes allows for the conclusion that the participants of the Holy Mass greatly appreciate listening to homilies and expect them, even on weekdays. A critical assessment of the quality of the homily concerns the poverty of doctrinal content, poor grounding in the celebrated mystery, and the lack of coherence of moral indications with the proclaimed message. In a short summary, some suggestions to improve the quality of homilies are proposed.

The apostolic letter Desiderio desideravi of the Holy Father Francis goes beyond the liturgical sphere of the Latin tradition and is a challenge also for Eastern Catholics because of its theological, liturgical and spiritual depth. This paper presents some of the main points of this apostolic letter: (1) Godʼs desire is the beginning of liturgical formation; (2) The beauty of the liturgy is more than ritual aestheticism; (3) Amaze- ment before the Paschal Mystery is an essential part of the liturgical act; (4) Forma- tion for the liturgy and formation from the liturgy; (5) The goal of liturgical formation is our conformation to Christ. It means to have the mind, feeling, and will of Christ. The Apostolic Letter Desiderio desideravi confirms once again that the liturgy is the source and summit of all Christian life.

In modern theology, the concept of the deposit of faith is rarely used. The aim of the article is to show its importance in maintaining the integrity of the transmission of the apostolic faith of the Church. However, it is essential because of the continuity and identity of the apostolic teaching received from Christ and transmitted to the Church. It allows us to define the limits of theological pluralism. In the development of theology, it is associated with apologetics, and its renaissance is conducive to in- depth studies of its importance for demonstrating the apostolic character of the contemporary Church teaching. An important element of this concept is the trust shown by the depositor (Christ) to the depositary (the Church), which obliges him to keep the deposit intact. Hence follows the great responsibility of the whole Church and of every Catholic as depositary. The deposit of faith, understood as the “sum of salvific goods” (the sum of noetic and ontic content), is sacred in two ways: it is a gift of God who reveals himself and is kept in the temple, which is every believer in Christ. It is a reservoir of unchanging dogmas and a “place” to look for answers to more and more inquisitive questions arising from the constantly changing conditions of human life. The deposit of faith is a reality that can effectively help in the fight against the contemporary crisis of Catholic faith and morality and even the identity of the Church itself.

There were 51 hospital parishes in the Polish part of the Diocese of Cracow. Each had its own pastor, church and endowment. An integral part of each foundation was the hospital and the poor living there. At the end of the 18th century, there were about 200 of them, of whom we can recognise by name. In the case of a dozen or so, we know their place of origin, age and condition. The residents’ lives had their own rhythm. It was marked by daily prayers learned by the preceptor, manual work, and almsgiving.

The contribution is divided into three moments: the first addresses the decisive meaning of the challenge that interpellates us today as a call to “rethink thought” in the perspective of an onto-lo- gy disclosed as trinitarian and trinitizing by the event of Jesus Christ, received and interpreted in a horizon and with an intentionality that are not exclusively denominational; the second responds to four critical questions aimed at establishing the pertinent implementation of such a performative interpretation of existence and its intelligence in our demanding times; and lastly, the third focus- es on two acquisitions for a theological itinerary that has already, at least in part and fruitfully, been undertaken and yet still needs to be continued at the service of the journey of the People of God in history.

The Vatican apostolic archive and the Historical archive of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, though still not fully researched, help uncover the background of the establishment of the apostolic administration in Upper Silesia. The documents found there shed new light on the process of the election of fr. august Hlond SDB as the first head of the administration and later Bishop of the Sile- sian (Katowice) Diocese. apart from the dominant narrative in the literature, saying that Hlond’s appointment was motivated by his acquaintance with archbishop achille ratti, apostolic nuncio to poland, who when travelling to rome would often stop in Vienna, where the Salesian from a village near mysłowice worked, there are also many indications that his contacts with monsi- gnore G.B. ogno-Serra helped him be even better known in Vatican circles. What contributed to this appointment was also the German government’s strong disapproval of fr. Kubina as a candidate, as he was accused of political agitation and pro-polish activities.

The establishment of the apostolic administration of upper Silesia (1922) – Diocese of Katowice entailed significant expenses. The authorities in Katowice believed that along with the territorial division of the wrocław (latin: Breslavia) diocese, its property should also be divided. The most im- portant part of dobra wrocławskie (the „wrocław properties & beneficia”) was from then on located in czechoslovakia. The division of church proper- ty was complicated because it was part of a broad- er issue regarding the existence and role of the catholic church in this area. ultimately, the Ka- towice diocese did not receive emoluments from the goods of the wrocław diocese. The purpose of this article is to present the dis- pute and how it was to be resolved. we are also familiarised with the activities of the main parties interested in the division of the aforementioned goods, which were the Bishop of Katowice acting in consultation with the Polish government, the Bishop of wrocław, the government in czechoslo- vakia, and – ultimately – the Holy See.

The text gives a chronological description of the creation and development of the ecclesial adminis- trative structures in the foreign (namely austrian and since 1918 czechoslovakian) part of the arch- diocese of Wrocław.The division of the diocese of Wrocław was mainly an effect of the so called Silesian Wars (1740–1763). Most dioceses, including the episco- pal city of Wrocław, were included in prussia then. a smaller part, with the entire cieszyn Silesia and a portion of nysa Silesia, remained under the juris- diction of austria and later austria-Hungary.The end of the first World War led to the emer- gence of new states and consequently to changes in the structure of church administration. cieszyn Silesia was divided between czechoslovakia and poland. The church administration on the polish lands was incorporated into the new diocese of katowice, established in 1925. in the territories owned by czechoslovakia, a legally independent commissariat for eastern Silesia was established. a similar legally independent commissariat was formed in nysa Silesia, a part of czechoslovakia at that time. The commissioners for both these commissariats were appointed by the archbishop of Wrocław. This structure was then profoundly changed after the Second World War. immediately after the war ended and because of the then situation of the polish part of the diocese of Wrocław, the apos- tolic administration of Český Těšín was formed. although plans had been announced to create a separate diocese, they had to be abandoned be- cause of the political situation at that time. it was not until 1996 that the diocese of Ostrava-Opava was established and thus the ecclesial administration structure got its final shape there.

People’s beliefs and behaviors are largely determined by their perceptions. The perception of God, which expresses all the definitions, feelings and thoughts about God that the individual has acquired from various sources, is a phenomenon at the center of the concept of religion, one of the most important cultural elements that have influenced humanity throughout history. The literature on people’s perceptions of God, the belief orientations that develop based on these perceptions, and perception of these orientations as a problem in society have been examined, and it has been observed as a deficiency that young people who experience the problem themselves are excluded from the studies at the stage of producing solutions to the problems. This situation is a matter that needs to be reconsidered in terms of the student-centered education approaches, also adopted in Turkiye. The research seeks the answer to the question of what the university youth’s solutions are to the belief problems they experience in the context of their perception of God. In addition, the study examines whether or not the definition of their belief in God or their religious attitudes affect the solution of the belief problems they experience in the context of their perception of God. The aim of this study is to reveal the spiritual, psychological, environmental or educational factors that affect young people in their decisions, preferences and solutions to belief. In a similar vein, the study also endeavours to reach the opinions and suggestions of young people who can show remarkable courage individually in the face of problems about their belief in God. The vision of this study is that enhancing the consciousness of young individuals regarding the challenges they encounter in matters of faith, fostering their sense of responsibility for these issues, and engaging them in the solution stage rather than dwelling on the problem stage would yield beneficial outcomes for the youth. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to 586 undergraduate and graduate students at Ondokuz Mayıs University and Samsun University during the period between May 26 and June 10, 2021. The results of the questionnaire revealed the relationships between young people’s perception of God, their solutions to the belief problems they experience in the context of their perception of God, and their socio-demographic characteristics. Ultimately, the study observed that young people who characterized themselves as religious were more active and willing to solve the problems of belief experienced concerning their perception of God.

In this paper, we demonstrate how the figure of the Virgin Mary func- tions as an important element of the lived religion of contemporary Catholic and Muslim mothers in Poland. Based on the analysis of in-depth interviews and observational data we argue that the figure of Mary is recognized as a religious ideal and a role model by mothers identifying with both religions. We trace sim- ilarities and differences between Catholic and Muslim mothers in their reflexive engagement with ideas, symbols, and prescriptions attached to Mary and discuss how they reinvent the figure and ascribe it with personalised meanings: embrace some of the traditional attributes of Mary, challenge, and contest others, and con- struct new meanings firmly embedded in their daily life mothering experiences.

The Jasna Góra Monastery has played an important role, both a religous and patriotic one, in the Polish past. The significance of “the Spiritual Capital of Poland” was emphasised by the activity of subsequent Popes as well as by visits of the last Popes to Częstochowa. Paul VI’s unfulfilled desire to be present there during the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland was fulfilled by John Paul II, who visited the Jasna Góra Monastery six times, and later by his Successor, Benedict XVI. The Pope’s stay in Częstochowa became a chance to strengthen consecrated people, seminarians, and representatives of Catholic associations in faith. This proclamation was addressed to the above-mentioned groups of believers from all over the country. The presence of the Pope and the homily delivered by him was welcomed with enthusiasm by numerous pilgrims, to whom Marian piety was an important element of religious life.

According to Vladimir N. Lossky, one of the most eminent Orthodox theologians of the twentieth century, the Christian doctrine of creation is not something akin to a philosophical preambula fidei but is a dogma of faith. This is because its subject is the God-Trinity, and the distinction between the Creator and the creation is inherently inaccessible outside the Revelation accepted in faith. This truth possesses a fundamentally apophatic character, grounded in the apophatic mystery of Trinitatis, the presentation of which is the purpose of the present text. Therefore, various issues such as creatio ex nihilo, the absolute freedom of the creative act, the Trinitarian character of creation, and creation in the perspective of theosis will be examined sequentially. The entirety of this exploration will be concluded with a synthetic recapitulation of the most relevant issues, exposing the profound apophatic nature of Lossky's creatology.

Thinking Incarnation as a New Beginning (ein neuer Anfang) is a challeng-ing hermeneutic task. The power of God’s self-manifestation in and throughthe divine Word calls for considering Logos as the principle of life. In the taskof understanding, what is most difficult is to bring together the beginning(ἀρχή) and the end (ἔσχατον): Protology and eschatology belong together(zueiandergehören). This task of thinking together is addressed not only todogmatic theologians but to every human being encountered by the mysteryof the Incarnation. As with every mystery, our human responsibility is to facedivine self-epiphany not as a problem to be answered and solved in formalstatements but as a genuine call for thinking (Denkauftrag).
