Крахът на неолибералните утопии

Крахът на неолибералните утопии

Author(s): Vihren Bouzov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2015

The ongoing process of globalization has entailed growth of inequalities and injustice worldwide. Neoliberalism cannot be an adequate strategy in this process. As a development strategy it is unable to ensure normal functioning of a social system and just relationships between people. The neoliberal values claim to be an universal therapy for all economic and social diseases. But they are utopia that were scattered because of the mismatch between the social interests of the elites and the underprivileged people around the world. The outliving of the nation states, the free media, the neoliberal economic slogans and the global democracy are utopian projects that collapsed in the world today. Formulation and acceptance of new social values on the basis of communitarianism is a road leading to the finding of a way out of permanent crises and regional conflicts, to boosting up economic and social development.

CONFLICT CONTINUUM AND FOOD SECURITY IN NORTHWESTERN NIGERIA: REFLECTIONS ON KEY ISSUES AND POLICY RECOMMENDATION

Author(s): Abdulrasheed Abdulyakeen / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

This study investigates the various obstacles to food security in Northwestern Nigeria to pinpoint their root causes. The methodology used for the study was a hybrid of quantitative and qualitative methods using primary and secondary sources. The study also conducted Key Informant Interviews with pertinent parties to contextualize the issue. According to the study, banditry has a negative impact on the nutritional status and food security of rural households in the study area. The result also demonstrates that banditry, which damaged food storage facilities and disrupted existing food supply chains, jeopardized agriculture, the main source of income in the northwest region, negatively affecting the quality of food in the area and across the nation. Because of their dread of being harmed, most farmers avoid going to their farms. For the region's farm fields to be safe and accessible, the study suggests, among other things, that security specialists be stationed and deployed in these areas. The government also needs to make sure that rural areas have access to basic services including social services, infrastructure, and other essentials of life.

Author(s): Alexandrina-Augusta Bora / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2022

The practice of human trafficking is not only a serious legal and social issue but a major violation of human rights, an attempt to reduce the value of humanity and to treat humans as objects. The National Agency against Trafficking in Person reports describe a tendency of decreased numbers of Romanian victims identified in the last decade by the judicial institutions. The complexity of this criminal phenomenon requires the promotion of a systemic approach and a comprehensive and coordinated involvement of every public institution and authority, nongovernmental organizations, and specialists with competencies in the field of preventing and fighting human trafficking and in providing all forms of assistance services for social reinsertion. We are analyzing if Romanian law has adequate provisions regarding human trafficking victims` rights, in line with international regulation. We are discussing the good practices and the challenges raised by the implementation of the legal victims` rights, also drawing some suggestions for improving the administrative process of institutional cooperation.

Study of the Development of the Use of Communicative Technologies in the Educational Process of Engineers Training

Author(s): Ivan Beloev,Valentina Vasileva,Sergey Bilan,Mária Bondár,Oksana Bulgakova,Lyubov Shymko / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2023

Pedagogical science sees the specificity of higher engineering education in the fact that future engineers need not only to master the theoretical foundations of engineering calculations, but what is especially important for quality professional training, is to acquire stable abilities and skills to implement successful practical activities – readiness for independent professional improvement. At the same time, the development of communication technologies, a derivative of the needs of civil society, has accelerated markedly due to the forced physical isolation caused by the need to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The transfer of knowledge in traditional forms between participants in the educational process, due to the dramatically increased mobility of the parties, is losing its effectiveness. The Internet, educational platforms, and social media have undeniably increased the speed and volume of information exchange. The authors of the article, having experience in using and evaluating the effectiveness of various communication technologies and tools, conclude that there is an obvious qualitative improvement in the digital competence of students.

PREVALENCE AND MANIFESTATIONS OF DIGITAL HARASSMENT AMONG YOUNG ADULTS IN SERBIA

Author(s): Aleksandar Matković,Ivana Novakov,Vanja Glišin / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

Although the literature on digital violence is largely dominated by studies focusing on the pre-adolescent or adolescent population, young adults are a vulnerable category as well, due to a high prevalence of Internet use. The goal of this research was to examine the extent to which young adults in Serbia report committing or being exposed to different types of cyber harassment and to identify possible differences in gender and the level of attended education (secondary school or university). The research was conducted on 312 participants (32.69% male and 67.31% female), from 18 to 25 years (mean age = 19.23). The sample included high school seniors (33.33%) and university students (66.67%). Obtained results reveal that the most represented forms of cyber harassment are online stalking (52.56%), ignoring/excluding someone from groups on social networks (27.88%), harassment by phone calls (24.68%), and the use of false/someone else’s identity or creating profiles in someone else’s name (22.76%). We conclude that one of the main priorities in the digital era is to create a secure online environment not only for children and adolescents but also for young adults, as they too are frequently exposed to digital violence.
