Лезбејски фетишизам?

Лезбејски фетишизам?

Author(s): Elizabeth Grosz / Language(s): English,Macedonian Issue: 1/2001

In psychoanalytic discourse, fetishism is a uniquely male perversion.1 In the psychoanalytic literature it has been generally agreed, (with very few exceptions), that fetishism is a male perversion, and its existence in women is assumed to be impossible. While in one sense I do not want to disagree with this claim— in psychoanalytic terms, it makes no sense for women to be fetishists, and it is unimaginable that women would get gratification from the use of inanimate objects or mere partial objects alone?— in another, more strategic and political sense, it seems plausible to suggest, as Naomi Schor does in her analysis of George Sand (1985) that there can be a form of female fetishism, and to claim, further, that lesbianism provides its most manifest and tangible expression.

Analysis of the Formation of Personal and Professional Qualities of Future Social Workers for Street Social Work

Analysis of the Formation of Personal and Professional Qualities of Future Social Workers for Street Social Work

Author(s): Olena Vasylenko,Yulia Grach,Liudmila Ivanivna Romanovska,Tetiana Kravchyna / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2019

The paper presents the diagnostics of the state of formation of personal and professional qualities of future social workers being able to carry out street social work. While undergoing the study, it has been found that the professional readiness of street social work specialists involves the formation of such a level of professional skills and competence of future social workers that will allow them to perform the various functions of street social work successfully. Interpersonal interaction with clients of street social work provides for the presence of such specialists’ traits as: empathy, compromise and speed of thinking, diplomacy in relations with others, optimism in perception of reality, communicativeness, sociability, high mental capacity, comprehensiveness of interests, mood stability, independence, initiative and business orientation in professional activity. To study the state of formation of the listed qualities of future social workers, we conducted a diagnostic study among students of second-fifth years-of-study of specialty “Social work” of Khmelnitsky National University. Diagnostic results show that the majority of future social workers, while studying in higher educational institution, have sufficiently low indicators of formation of both personal and professional qualities. They are diagnosed with low levels of business orientation and professional motivation for street social work, as well as low level of manifestation of diplomacy, pessimism in the perception of reality, rigid thinking, low mental capacity, changeability of interests, multilevel of mood, dependency, lack of initiative. Therefore, we propose to develop and introduce psychological-pedagogical and social-pedagogical conditions (for the formation of future social workers' professional readiness for street social work) into the educational process.

Contemporary Forms and Strategies of Discursive Manipulation: Storytelling or the Art of Telling Stories on the Public Stage

Contemporary Forms and Strategies of Discursive Manipulation: Storytelling or the Art of Telling Stories on the Public Stage

Author(s): Daniela Cătău-Vereș / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

In the development of humanity and society in general, communication has always played an essential role. The forms that it takes are determined by the relationships between individuals (power, affection, decision, information, etc.), but communication can also be viewed in terms of the purpose with which one form or another is used in social structures. Moreover, the tools or means used in the communication process are decisive in discursive analysis, contributing to the identification of the exposed message or the hidden intention. Whatever the purpose of communication, the intention is one: to convince something and possibly to incite action. In this sense, communication has common boundaries with manipulation in the public space. Because of their frequent use in the public space, these two seemingly banal terms, communication and manipulation, hide complex linguistic and psychological mechanisms.

Zastosowanie sterowania feedback-feedforward i predyktora Smitha do optymalizacji przepływu towarów w magazynie ze zmiennym w czasie opóźnieniem

Author(s): Przemysław Orłowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 12.2/2016

The paper proposes the use of the automatic control system to control the system for supplementary orders for the warehouse in the presence of time-varying market demand and time-varying delay. A  discrete-time, time-varying dynamic model of the ware-house system is assumed for the analysis. For the given model it is proposed a feedback-feedforward control system with the Smith predictor. The settings of the control system are evaluated by minimizing cost function using particle swarm optimization. The work contains the results of calculations and computer simulations for the assumed scenario for the market demand.

Ethics considers the systematic reflection on the values and principles that govern the relationships between people, also between them and society. It is a normative field, prescribing a series of precepts and values that motivate a series of behaviors in parallel with the prohibition of others. Business ethics is a distinct field of applied ethics, manifesting itself like other branches (ethics in the teaching field, medical ethics, etc.) by applying general principles, the most important being utility or duty. The article captures the significant milestones of structuring a theoretical framework regarding the awareness of the importance of ethics for the business field.

Author(s): Małgorzata Michel,Iwona Moksa / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2019

// The purpose of the work is to present the results of a study conducted in Krakow with the participation of a group of football hooligans into their understanding of patriotism and how patriotism is demonstrated in hooligans’ activities. The authors start from the assumption that a specific understanding of patriotism has its consequences in the form of specific behaviours, often associated with hate speech, incitement to hate crimes, and all that we call radicalization. Such a situation causes great tension and feelings of guilt which are neutralized using techniques aimed at minimizing them. From the viewpoint of the concept by David Matza and Gresham M. Sykes (1957), the authors try to demonstrate how the dissonance between emotions, knowledge, and behaviour is neutralized by the respondents.

Health Disparities, Social Distancing, and Belonging in Pre- and Post- Covid-19 United States

Author(s): Sana Loue / Language(s): English Issue: 1 Sup 2/2020

This commentary explores the relationship between health disparities, social distancing, and belonging in the United States pre- and post-Covid 19. The author concludes that post-Covid-19 requires a radical re-visioning of society to address structural inequality that has heightened the vulnerability of some populations to Covid-19, which has, in turn, exacerbated the pre-existing vulnerabilities.

Transfiguration of the Risk Society

Transfiguration of the Risk Society

Author(s): Wojciech Melnik / Language(s): English Issue: 1 Sup 2/2020

Postmodern deconstructions of the narratives about the virus generally depend on the inconsistency of the definition of life of a virus. The postmodern thought based around the conception of the network of meanings is, therefore, a categorical template for a very specific figurative development, that is linked with the paradoxical dichotomies inherent in the premodern, modern and scientific definitions of the virus. This postmodern reinterpretation of the virus is based upon the disintegration of the ontology of the virus by the reality of non-binarity of nature. The general ecological thinking of postmodernism does not, thereby, reduce the complexity of contemporary problems, but maintains different levels of narrativity about the ontology of human tragedies.

Pandemic Panic in Information Space: the Fact and its Ladennes

Author(s): Alla Nerubasska,Oresta Lopuha / Language(s): English Issue: 1 Sup 2/2020

The article presents the author’s reflections on information-ladennes of facts. It demonstrates parallels between presenting facts and the theory interpreting the facts through the example of science, history of the 21st century and the fact of pandemic. The terrorist attack in the United States on September 11th, 2001 and the current panic attack demonstrate that the minds of people are zombified by human-generated mass media and the Internet.

RETHINKING SOCIAL PROTEST MOVEMENTS’ THEORIZATION: LESSONS FROM EGYPT, BURKINA FASO AND BOLIVIA

Author(s): Gadi Hitman / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The primary observation of this paper is that the common definition of a social protest movement should be revised, following the large-scale popular protest witnessed in the last few years in different areas of the world. The traditional perception of social protest movements – as a phenomenon reserved to non-governmental actors alone, such as workers’ unions, civil society and opposition movements – is deficient. While this perception concentrates on actors from outside of the formal establishment, the definition should focus on the behaviour and patterns of activity of the actors involved in protest, including official ones, such as the armed forces and other security apparatuses. Examples from Egypt, Burkina Faso and Bolivia examined hereinafter, suggest that security forces meet the criteria of a social protest movement, whether they initiate demonstrations against the regime or join a popular revolt.

In Front of the Mirror of Social Expectations: Experiences of Women Until They Are Given a Diagnosis of Infertility

In Front of the Mirror of Social Expectations: Experiences of Women Until They Are Given a Diagnosis of Infertility

Author(s): Katarzyna Walentynowicz-Moryl / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The aim of this article is to overview women’s experiences in view of social expectations about having children. Such expectations are frequently implied in questions about procreation plans. Since the procreative experience was considered by the author as a process, it was possible to reconstruct changes in the meaning that the researched women ascribed to such questions at different stages of this experience, i.e. from the period prior to trying for a child, through the initial stage of trying to conceive, to the diagnostic stage until being given a diagnosis of infertility. At the stage prior to trying for a child, standing in front of the mirror of social expectations, the women saw themselves in the role of future mothers. At the initial stage of trying to conceive, seeing themselves in the mirror, the interviewed women saw themselves as pregnant women in near future. At the diagnostic stage until being given a diagnosis of infertility, the women saw only their uncertain future, i.e. themselves who wanted to have children very much, but were no longer certain whether they would become mothers.

COVID-19 Pandemic and the Socio-Economic Wellbeing of Workers, Organisations and People: the Loss of One is the Gain of Others (a Multiple Perspective Analysis-MPA)

COVID-19 Pandemic and the Socio-Economic Wellbeing of Workers, Organisations and People: the Loss of One is the Gain of Others (a Multiple Perspective Analysis-MPA)

Author(s): Michael Sunday Agba,Stephen I. Ocheni,Daniel Chi Jr. Chukwurah / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

Purpose/objective: the study is a multiple-perspective analysis adopted to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workers, organisations and people in terms of losses and gains. The paper is, therefore, an attempt to present a balance argumentative view of the implications of COVID-19 pandemic on the society, public organizations, and the private sector, community and family settings. Existing scholarships located in journals and other outlets tend to count the pains caused by the pandemic without looking at some gains like the strengthening of family and community ties and relationships, religious revolution, revival and awakening (affirmation of right spiritual values); increase in scientific and social researches and publications; more academics papers by faculty; the boosting of online education economy, awakening the need to prioritize governmental budgeting to address key areas like the health sector.Design/Methodology/Approach: the paper adopts a descriptive research design involving content analysis. A multiple-perspective analysis (MPA) which avoids a one-sided analysis, was adopted in the study.Findings: the findings reveal that society, individuals, the public and private sectors can profit from the public health crisis caused by COVID-19 despite the obvious negatives implications of the pandemic.Originality/Contributions: the study is original for providing a paradigm shift from the one-sided prevailing debate of analyzing the economic, manpower losses, and social pains of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study has, therefore contributed to knowledge by filling the existing gap-in-literature. The study has theoretical, policy and empirical implications and relevance.

Author(s): Marlena Rycombel / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2019

The article describes “Wymiennik” – Warsaw system which uses the alternative currency “alterka”. The main aim of the paper is to think over how the creators of the initiative understand their resistance to consumption practices and to what extent their activism leads to socio-economic change. The categories by Marek Krajewski concerning on nonconformist lifestyles are used; it turned out that the most useful concept is “discreet resistance”. To get knowledge about “Wymiennik” I conducted 12 in-depth interviews and two years of participatory observation, furthermore I analyzed materials published or recommended by the creators of the system.

‘An inside job’: An autobiographical account of desistance

Author(s): Wayne Hart,Deirdre Healy / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2018

Various theories have been put forward to explain the processes underpinning desistance from crime. To provide additional insights into this phenomenon, this article presents an autobiographical account of one man’s journey towards a crime-free life. The narrative reveals a change process that is at once personal and universal, and describes the external forces that shaped his pathway to desistance as well as his experiences of personal fortitude and agency. In addition, it highlights the role of probation supervision as a catalyst for change. The autobiographical account is accompanied by a reflective academic commentary that situates these personal life experiences within the wider desistance literature. While the reader may view the autobiographical tone of this article as subjective, it should be noted that the account is not simply a re-telling of an individual life story but offers a critical appraisal of existing knowledge viewed through the lens of one person’s journey towards desistance.

Author(s): Anastasiya Evgenievna Kargina,Irina Stanislavovna Morozova,Evgenia Aleksandrovna Medovikova,Daria Nikolaevna Grinenko / Language(s): Russian Issue: 4/2020

Introduction. The article focuses on the development of coping skills to deal with difficult situations in the future workplace of senior students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Technosphere Safety. The purpose of the article is to evaluate the effectiveness of reflexive seminars as a means of fostering undergraduate students’ coping skills in the final year of studies. Materials and Methods. For this study, the authors used the following methods of data collection: S. S. Goncharov’s ‘Ways of managing negative situations’, R. Lazarus’s ‘Coping strategies’, ‘Index of life style’ (L. I. Wasserman, O. F. Eryshev, etc.), and ‘Uncompleted sentence’ technique. The sample consisted of 48 senior students pursuing their degrees in Technosphere Safety. The data obtained were interpreted and statistically analyzed using the Student’s t-test. Results. The study clarifies the concept of ‘a difficult life situation’. The research participants (senior students) described it as a state of anxiety about the result. The findings of the study suggest that reflexive seminars contribute to acquiring flexible coping skills for managing difficult situations by senior students in the final year at university. Conclusions. The authors conclude that reflexive seminars enable future technosphere security professionals to take responsibility for solving problems. The obtained results can be used in designing programs to prepare students for the future career.
