Vertebral syndromes are frequent diseases among today‘s population. The success of conservative treatment of discogenic disease of the cervical spine is high, but not all states can handle it a conservative way. As a result, surgical solutions are often indicated. In clinical practice we often meet patients who have undergone implantation of an artificial cervical intervertebral disc or an interbody cage for spinal fusion. These are often people of productive age who can be fully involved in personal and professional life after the surgery. Regular sports activity helps these patients maintain good health, as well as physical and mental fitness. Patients who have undergone intervertebral disc surgery in the cervical spine should be educated about what kinds of sports and physical activity they should avoid, or at least what principles should be followed when engaging in physical activity. If a chosen physical activity is inappropriate, or if it is not performed in the right way, there is a possibility of damage to the locomotor system, and even injury. This article summarizes and recommends types of physical and sports activities that these patients can perform, emphasizing correct procedures.

This paper deals with the research of relations between achievement motivation and the general attitude towards sport values in case of sportsmen (basketball, football and volleyball players). On the basis of the results, we have determined the distribution of the general attitude towards sport values, as well as the relation between achievement motivation and the general attitude towards sport values. Examinees with bold achievement motivation have positive general attitude, they are ready to strive efforts in order to improve their sports results, and they tend to achieve the set, clearly defined and high enough goals. We have noticed that achievement motivation has an important role in the attitude towards sport values. When it comes to achievement motivation, it is very important to know that persons with tendencies towards competition and/or achieving the goal probably would not be successful without developed characteristic of being determined, patient and oriented towards planning. Both psychologists and trainers in the process of sportsmen preparation should be familiar with this fact. The development and fulfilment of acheivment motives through sport activities provide filfilment of many other motives important for relasiation of personal needs, and the engagement in sport and the general postive attitude towards sport vaules.

The assessment of the level of physical fitness of the students of technical university who have independently chosen their sports specialization is presented in this article. Three thousands one hundred and eighty eight students of the basic medical group were examined. The volume of physical activity for the first and the second year students was 4 hours a week, for the third and the fourth - 3 hours a week. The changes of physical development of the students en-gaged in different sports specialization during their grad days from the first to the fourth year are shown. According to the obtained data the assessment of integrated level of physical development, calculated as the sum of results of all tests, is made and distribution of the students ac-cording to their level is carried out. We found out that students, who have independently chosen their sports specialization, manage to keep some qualities of physical fitness at the same level and often to improve them. Considerable improvement of integrated level of physical fitness and increase of number of the students with high and above average levels of physical development were discovered among the young men who were engaged in athleticism and basketball and among the girls who were engaged in aerobics. The students of both sexes of track and field athletics sports specialization stand out above an average level of physical development com-pare to other students during their grad days from the first to the fourth year. It may be concluded that independently chosen sports specialization of physical education classes allows the students to support their level of physical fitness. The improvement of indicators of physical fitness, particularly of the third and the fourth year students, takes place only if they have additional independent sports activity.

The match-up between Makabi and Inter did not attract many spectators. The weather was likely the only factor at play, since that Saturday in November was extremely nasty. That was because the game was held not in Haifa or even Milan, but in the Warsaw district of Mokotów. To be precise, on a small but well-kept field lined with artificial turf in the so-called Jordan’s Garden. The game, lasting fifty minutes including the break, was not especially fierce, and ended with Inter’s confident victory 5–1.

Doing regular sports in the sportive competitions may effect motor development of contestant children positively. The aim of research was to investigate the effect of the regular sportive exercise on the development of 10-11 years old children’s motor skills. Participants were chosen from the children competing in interscholastic basketball (n=30) and badminton (n=30) competitions and sedentary children (n=30) in the education year 2012-2013 in Kutahya. In research, the measurements of children’s motor proficiency was assessed by using the BOTMP-2 Short Form (Bruiniks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition). The BOTMP2-SF involves only 14 of the 46 items of the full test battery. The evaluation was done in 8 sub-tests (Fine Motor Precision, Fine Motor İntegration, Manual Dexterity, Bilateral Coordination, Balance, Running Speed and Agility, Upper-Limb Coordination, Strength). Collected data was analysed using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post doc analysis was performed using Tukey’s multiple range test. According to test results, significant differences were found between the groups in 8 sub-tests. Consequently, it was found that doing regular exercise effects positively motor development of 10-11 years children.

Health and well-being should be an attribute of every human being. Without a high level of energy, immunity, defence mechanisms, there is no chance for a long life. The recovery of youth, understood in a straightforward way, by withdrawal of the time, as one of the existing dimensions, is not possible. Dietary supplements do not constitute any competition for applying other methods simultaneously. They are however, a complement and support for them, not only to look young, but above all, to minimize the effects of aging.

Regular physical activity and sport is important for enhanced physical fitness and skill performance of deaf athletes. However there are few data in the literature about their medical considerations. In this study we aimed to determine the morphological findings and cardiac status of the deaf athletes and compare them with the normal ones. Thirty deaf and twenty-two normal male athletes without cardiovascular diseases participated in the study. Transthoracic echocardiography and exercise stress testing were performed. Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI)-derived myocardial performance index (MPI) was also evaluated. VO2 max and heart rate recovery were calculated after exercise stress testing. Total cholesterol, LDL and trigliseride levels were significantly increased in the deaf athletes, but they were still found to be in normal ranges according to age and risk factor profile (p< 0.05). End-diastolic diameter and left ventricular mass index were found to be significantly increased in the controls when compared with the deaf athletes (p< 0.001). Heart rate recovery at 1 minute did not show any difference in the deaf group when compared with the control group (p> 0.05). MPI calculated from TDI-derived variables was found to be 0.41±0.073 in the deaf group and 0.46±0.061 in the controls respectively and significantly decreased in the deaf (p < 0.05). Beyond having a hearing loss, the deaf athletes have many cardiac structural and functional differences from their normal counterparts. The factors that give rise to these differences have to be revealed by further research.

Disabled people are a social category that is very often at the effect of the stereotypes and prejudices prevalent in society. Frequently such persons suffer marginalization or exclusion. A disability can be the source of a stigma that defines the life of a human being both in the individual and social dimension. Only a portion of disabled persons manage to counteract the social stigmatization effectively, and above all to overcome their own fears about appearing in public with a body that is not fully functional. The author presents the changes occurring in the lives of persons with physical disabilities after their engagement in sports activities. Using Fritza Schütze’s theory of process structures and Anselm Strauss’s work on identity, he tries to show that engaging in sports could make it possible for a disabled person to move from a trajectory of suffering as a stigmatized person toward a biographical plan of action involving specific turning points and a reconstruction of the person’s ego.
