Українська ідентичність у творчості Василя Курилика на прикладі серій «Український емігрант» та «Українські жінки-емігрантки»

Author(s): Khrystyna Beregovska / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 2/2018

The purpose of the work is to raise the question of the Ukrainian identity in the artwork of Canadian Ukrainian artist William Kurelek, using as examples of his series "The Ukrainian Pioneer" and "Ukrainian Pioneer Women " as well as to characterize the problem in the context of the author's artistic searches. Methodology. General scientific and interdisciplinary methods of research - analysis, synthesis, generalization, formalization and a comparative method were used to carry out the set of tasks. The scientific novelty of the results obtained is the analysis of art-stylistic features and the identification of the features of Ukrainian identity in the works of W. Kurelek. Conclusions. On the basis of an in-depth analysis of his "multi-series" art, for the first time, four types of concept of identity were presented, which the author portrayed in accordance with selected contexts: national, social, personalized (personality) and identity as a "sense of community". In particular, the characteristic features of Ukrainian identity are analyzed in detail using six examples of W. Kurelek’s works of his series “The Ukrainian pioneer” and some works of his series “Ukrainian pioneer women”. In his art, we find a single formula of Ukrainian identity, which the author understood as a set of ethnic, national, gender, and religious characteristics inherent in one or another person, demonstrating his identity in the corresponding group affiliation.

Украјинско становништво и њихова насеља у Јужном Поткозарју

Author(s): Tanja Mišlicki / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2009

South Potkozarje the north of the Serbian Republic, at the beginning of the twentieth century was one of the centers of immigration and the concentration of Ukrainian and other foreign colonists from the area under the Austro-Hungarian rule. Geographical position, historical events, transportation, trade, cultural, administrative and other functions were the main factors of this population in the southern Potkozarje in this period and later. Political events during the twentieth century have initiated emigration of Ukrainian population, which resulted in continuous reduction of the number of Ukrainians in 15 villages (the whole, lower Garevci, Kamičani, Kozarac, Kozaruša, Maricki, Miljakovci, Orlovci, Tomasic, Trnopolje, Orlovac, Uriah, Gomjenica, Puharska and Čirkin field) and their total scattering in the 6 villages (Krivaja, Petrov Gaj, Rakelići, Ljubija, Kevljani and Omarska). The paper analyzed Migraciona Ukrainian population trends and their extinct and biologically extinct households.

Уметници и уметност Србије ван српских граница

Уметници и уметност Србије ван српских граница

Author(s): Petrija Jovičić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 3/2018

Research interest in this work is aimed at voluntary movement of artists from Serbia to Western Europe, from the 1960s till present day. Artists provoked by the "the limitations imposed by the state", and later also by “the break-up of Yugoslavia”, sought a better destination for the development and improvement of their own creative expression, unable to sufficiently do that in their own country. With migrant and indigenous artists living together, along with interweaving of their cultures, thoughts, and artistic handwriting, new artistic identities emerged. Integration of artists and their families in different cultural, social, and religious communities, along with the transformation of their artistic creativity, open up new topics in the comprehension of the migration process. Visual narratives of migrant artists nostalgically record ethnographic vignettes, medieval motifs, and poetic intimacy of Serbia, which attests that no matter where they were creating or living, in their hearts they were still in their own country. Their activities represented international artistic contributions, which is proven by numerous awards and public expositions of their works in Serbia and abroad. This paper aims to encourage institutions and individuals to establish policies that would deal with sustaining links with the artistic diaspora in order to build bridges of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the artists who create in our country and those living abroad, so as to achieve concentric cooperative ties. Artistic creativity of migrant artists, whether it is transposed, realistic or abstract, is illuminated with elements of our national culture, thus the artists, by creating their works, have become cultural ambassadors of their original country.

Author(s): Vlasta Kokotović Kanazir,Marko Filipović,Ivana Magdalenić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 3/2016

This paper tackles spatial mobility of the population in the Republic of Serbia, according to the census data from 1981 to 2011, and annual data given by The Statistical office of the Republic of Serbia from 2002-2013. The aim of this paper is to establish the basic characteristics of the inner population mobility and to point out the regional inequalities. Analysis shows that on the territory of Serbia there is inter-municipal definitive and temporary migration, and that its direction and intensity change over time. Increased population mobility can be observed towards Belgrade area, as well as other regional centers: Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Nis. The conclusion is that Serbia is in its late transition phase of spatial mobility of population, with prominent daily migrations in large city areas, especially Belgrade area.

Употреба падежних облика у говору Параћинског поморавља - Балканистички и етномиграциони аспект

Author(s): Sofija Miloradović / Language(s): Serbian

The region of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje belongs to the Kosovo-Resava dialect of the Serbian language, but the speech of this part of Veliko Pomoravlje occupies the bordering zone between two dialectal masses of Serbian — the Kosovo-Resava and the Timok-Prizren dialects. The speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje has proven to be a very rich source of information about metanastatic movements as well as about the origin of population. This speech is, to a very high degree, the result of migrations of the representatives of southern and south-eastern sub dialects, which have been taking place ever since the century and into this day. To a somewhat lesser degree the structure of this speech has been affected by its geolinguistic status i.e. its position in the bordering zone. The portion that belongs to the oldest — and the strongest — the Kosovo-Resava migrational stream, is about the largest one. Then it is followed — and in some villages even preceded — by the Vardar-Južna Morava stream, while the Dinaric population is scarcely represented and mostly overwhelmed by the settlers of the Timok-Braničevo and Šop streams. In the course of time, the immigrants of the Vardar — Južna Morava provenience, originality probably the most dominant in the places of the Paraćin region alongside the river of Velika Morava, have imposed the features of their original vernaculars on the population outside the Morava valley proprer. The abovementioned facts have directly caused the super stratification of certain Balkanistic features onto the unquestionable Kosovo-Resava dialectal basis of the studied speech. These include, in the first place, the proportion of penetration of casus generalis and a conspicuous tendency toward analytism. The situation regarding the use of case forms, generally speaking, is closer to that in the Prizren — Južna Morava vernaculars than to the one in Kosovo-Resava dialects. After describing the syntactic features in the realm of use of case forms in this transitional speech I tried to establish, by tracing the change of distribution of case forms brought about by a substantial influence of analytic structures, the extent to which — within the range of each case and each case construction — flective forms have been preserved (in otherwords, the Kosovo-Resava situation), as well as the lines on which they have been penetrated by casus generalis. The rivalry between genitive case and analytic constructions with casus generalis in the genitive function has been resolved in the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje in a way not described in hitherto studies about individual Kosovo-Resava dialects. Judging from the results of our analysis, it can be concluded that non-prepositional genitive — regardless of whether it is used adnominally or adverbially — is not very frequent, so that a tendency is observed toward securing a prepositional status of this case form. Departing from the materials analyzed it can be asserted that the forms of genitive case realized in relation with preposition vastly outnumber the instances of casus generalis in a genitive function. Therefore, it was solely the sphere of the genitive case with preposition that has remained fairly stable in the face of “tide” of analytic constructions with casus generalis. A pivotal position in the process of disintegration of synthetic declination in the history of the languages of the Balkans has been taken by the neutralization of case opposition between genitive and dative, which has consequently made the syncretism of their forms possible. In the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje this “primary” Balkanism is not effectuated to a full extent. Syncretized are forms of genitive and dative cases in the semantic category of possessivity, in such a manner that dative takes over the possessive functions o f genitive. It appears almost regularly as an inhibited case form (the compulsory determinator + a nominal word in dative case). Free dative in the studied speech also takes the adverbial position which is primary to it. The semantic differentiation within adverbial dative is considerably greater than within adnominal dative. The analyzed material shows that forms of non-prepositional dative are quite a marginal means of expressing a goal, i.e. the final point of a motion. Instead of dativus finalis with verba movendi the studied dialectal region features a Balkanistic innovation — a locational construction of the type kod + G/CG. Two features typical of the Kosovo-Resava dialect in general are also present in the studied speech: (1) the use of casus generalis in the function of instrumental case; (2) the use of sociative construction instead of a non-prepositional instrumentalis instrumenti. The studied speech, however, has witnessed an intensification of these two phaenomena, so that the suppression of synthetic instrumental forms as well as expressing various categories of non-prepositional instrumental by a sociative construction seem to have reached proportions unknown to other Kosovo-Resava dialects. One of the peculiarities of this speech is also an exclusive use of casus generalis instead of instrumental with prepositions pod [“under”], nad [“above”], pred [“before”] and među [“between”], as well as its incomparably more frequent occurence in the place of instrumental with the preposition s(a) [“with”]. As regards the use of locative syntagmata in the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje, there are two basic categories of features that make them different from the standard Serbian language and from other Kosovo-Resava subdialects: (1) a very low frequency of locative forms and a much more intensive use of casus generalis in the locative function, especially with prepositions u [“in”] and na [“on”]; (2) the absence or rather suppression of prepositions o [“about”] and pri [“by”]. However, when locative meanings are marked by the preposition po, the instances of locative are almost equally numerous as those with casus generalis with that preposition. An insight into this particular dialectal situation makes it possible to recognize yet another series of processes typical of the use of case forms in Paraćinsko Pomoravlje that fall in the category of consequences of Balkanistic linguistic developments on this terrain. We have in mind, in the first place, an expansion of the use of nominative case in the place of certain genitive functions (in existential and in partitive constructions). Since respective nouns are in the position (subjective) which makes the use of accusative as a casus generalis impossible, the nominative case, being a basic form of a noun, is extremely suitable for such a substitution for genitive proper. Furthermore, there are many instances of nominative as the central, as well as the second independent case, taking over the role of the vocative case. In the studied speech the possibility o f simultaneous use o f genitive and accusative in the same function and with the same meaning has not been exploited in the following basic categories of the free accusative case: (1) accusative as the case of the object with the verb imati [“to have”] and in some other adverbial, partitive syntagmata; (2) accusative as a case of the object of negative verbs; (3) temporal accusative. In this speech the process of loss of genitive forms has gone very far, and simultaneously with it there is the process of amplification of the use of accusative forms which have become a very productive category. Conspicuous is also a strenghtening of the role of prepositions — simultaneous with a weakening of case flection — in expressing case meanings, and consequently, a removal of non-prepositional forms of oblique cases from the frame of the still existent synthetic system. Namely, the semantic field of non-prepositional instrumental is very restricted — except for a considerable number of examples in the category of “tools”, the instances of instrumentalis loci and instrumentalis verbi medialis have been noted practically only by exception. Free case forms of the predicative and temporal instrumentals have disappeared from the studied speech. The grammatical category of number has also had its part in the vanishing of flection from the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje. Namely, the plural forms of all the nominal declension types have proved to be extremely prone to reduction of genitive, instrumental and locative case forms, thus giving way to the expansion of casus generalis. In that respect, genitive is the best example because the function of genitive plural of all three genders is expressed almost exclusively by forms of casus generalis. In the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje the syncretic forms of nominative and accusative occur in plural of all the four declension types, thus apparently opening the way to a broader use of casus generalis forms. The growing of analytic processes in the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje is represented by certain morpho-syntactic entities. Here we shall list just some of them that have undergone analytic re-organisation: od + G/CG m. of the possessive genitive, od + G/CG m. of the non-prepositional genitive with verbs of the type bojati se, kod + G/CG m. of dative of verba dicendi, kod + G/CG and uz + A m. of the non-prepositional dative with verbs of the type prići, s + I/CG m. of the non-prepositional instrumentalis instrumenti and instrumentalis verbi medialis.po + L / niz + AJ kroz A m. of instrumentalis prosecutivus, za + A m. o f the predicative instrumental with verbs o f the type smalrali, za+ A m . of the genitive of indirect object with verbs nadati se, seliti se, radovali se, etc. It is obvious that accusative syntagmata with prepositions are expanding on the account of certain prepositional syntagmata with genitive, instrumental and locative, as well as on the account of non-prepositional genitive, dative, accusative and instrumental cases in certain syntactic- -semantic categories. With regard to everything previously concluded about the use of case forms in the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje, and after observing the rivalry between flective forms and syntagmata with casus generalis, it can be concluded that the studied speech, in that respect, quite intensively takes part in the Balkan linguistic league. In the speech of Paraćinsko Pomoravlje the most prominent Balkanizing innovation is the presence of casus generalis as a morpho-syntactic construction which co-exists with the flective case forms. Thus accusative as casus generalis takes over the functions of genitive, instrumental and locative, occasionally even dative cases. However, regardless of the fact that casus generalis assumes a number of functions of various cases, in this transitional speech of the Kosovo-Resava zone all the seven cases still do preserve their flective forms. Instances of analytism are restricted, so that the synthetic structure of the morpho-syntactic linguistic level is not destroyed.

English poetry by Rose Ausländer is an interesting phenomenon in the biography and writing of the German-speaking author, associated with the practical aspects of life in exile and psychological traumas. Using the method of analysis of poetic texts created by her in English during the life in emigration in the United States between 1947 and 1956 (poetry collection “The Forbidden Tree”) and some later prose texts, interviews, we conclude that Rose Ausländer had an ambiguous attitude to New York. The same attitude to the metropolis was shared by the American poet Marianne Moore, with whom Ausländer developed friendship, which played an important role for the creative life of the Bukovynian author in exile. We also consider the different perceptions of New York by Rose Ausländer during the two different periods of her residence there: the late 1920s when poetry was traditional in form and expressionist in style, written in German; and English free verse during the post-war period. Despite numerous topographical names that appear in the poetry collection “The Forbidden Tree”, the main New York motives remain the challenges to adapt to the rapid pace and rhythm of life, urge for the feeling of home, hope for a reunion with Bukovyna and German language etc.

Migration processes have been increasingly attracting scientific and political attention, and in recent years the focus on the return and reintegration of returnees has intensified. The study focuses on the relationship between the sustainability of migrants’ return to Bulgaria and the reintegration of returnees. The main hypothesis is that problematic post-return reintegration may hamper the sustainability of return and encourage returnees to re-emigrate. Based on a discussion of the different understandings of return, its sustainability and the reintegration of returnees, a model for analyzing the relationship between the sustainability of return and the reintegration of returnees „at home“ is built. Central to the model is the constructed „reintegration index“, which links post-return integration with the degree of readiness for re-emigration. Although the index is based on economic factors, other social and subjective factors related to the sustainability of returns have been taken into account too. The model and the index are used for analysis of empirical data from a nationally representative survey among returning migrants in Bulgaria. The analysis reveals that about 70% of returnees either have almost no reason to stay in Bulgaria (12.4%) or have a high probability of re-migration (56.3%). The results reveal target groups and factors against which sustainable return policies can be developed and targeted.

Утицај миграције из Србије у Мађарску на људске ресурсе Војводине

Author(s): Iren Gabrić-Molnar,Agneš Slavić / Language(s): English Issue: 148/2014

In the recent decades the migration processes and circular migration are increasing worldwide and have become more and more complex. There has been a new type of international migration – back and forth international migration. Nowadays, job seeking in the international space, brain circulation, multiple citizenship and identity, property ownership and consumption at the place of origin and at destination residence result in completely new lifestyles in Central and Eastern Europe, too. After the disintegration of the socialist regime both in Serbia and Hungary, new types of emigrants from Serbia appeared in Hungary, namely students, highly qualified workers, entrepreneurs, elders and circulars. The most recent types of migrants along the Serbian–Hungarian border area are: economic emigrants (emigrant physical workers); creative class (entrepreneurs, businessmen, international traders); circulars and seasonal emigrants, as well as students. The hypothesis of this work is that the main motive of emigration from Serbia to Hungary is the economic motive, especially job-seeking. The analysis of emigration from Serbia to Hungary is based on the interviews and questionnaire-based research obtained among emigrants from Vojvodina to Hungary, who were living in Hungary or commuting there regularly between 2010 and 2013. The obtained data prove the hypothesis. The economic motives are present even when the emigrants do not stay in Hungary, but move off to more developed countries of the EU.

УТИЦАЈ МИГРАЦИЈЕ НА БЕЗБЕДНОСТ РЕПУБЛИКЕ СРБИЈЕ

Author(s): Hatidža Beriša,Ivan Rančić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 4/2019

There is no doubt that migration of the population is an integral part of the process of globalization, which is characterized by modern humanity. They are not the specialty of either these part of the world, or that they are happening only at this time. A large number of migrants have left their countries of origin or ethnic origin migrating to other countries in search of better opportunities or seeking protection from persecution and violence. The topic of migration becomes particularly relevant during the migration crisis in the territory of European countries at the beginning of 2014, which is the largest population movement since the end of the Second World War. Contemporary migration of the population brings with it certain security risks, threats and security challenges for each country, regardless of whether they are the ultimate destination or transit country. The Republic of Serbia, as a European geopolitical intersection of civilizations, represents the inevitable area of migratory waves coming from the Middle East and North Africa. The aim of the paper is to identify the most important consequences of the migrant crisis in the Republic of Serbia through the analysis and assessment of external factors, and to anticipate possible future implications of the migrant crisis, which are primarily conditioned by the dynamics of solving problems in the Middle East, political and other decisions, and measures of the European Union and neighboring countries.

Period after Second World War was a time well known after the very large population movement from rural to urban areas which cause depopulation in numerous rural settlements in Serbia. Emigration from villages to towns decimated, in demographic sense, small settlements in the first place, and urban areas became bearers of the population growth. Some of the rural settlements had priviledge of their geographic position and certain functions and that’s why they attracted population from other places. In those settlements number of people who moved in (was not bom there) was more than 50% of total population. In this paper this rural settlements will be discussed about.

People`s migrations have played important part in the development of Brzi Brod. Their score and intensity are directly connected to the overall socio-economic development. The same reason we can find in those happening on large scale in the contemporary phase of Brzi Brod. Migrations of the inhabitants of Brzi Brod are the key factor for the transformation of settlement. It has had the most important impact on the change of demography (intensive growth of the total population, change of the demographic structure, demographic movements etc.), morph-physiognomic (the special development of settlement, changes in the appearance of the settlement etc.) and functional character of Brzi Brod (the growth of functional capacity, development of new developed functions, weakling of the farming function etc.).

The areas of Srem, and other parts of Vojvodina, are characterized by the constant movement of the population. Most causes of migration are economic, social, ethnic or political reasons. Migration could be voluntarly or forced, mass or individual, occasional or planned. The stated causes of migration occurring in Srem since 1961 to 1991 were mainly routed to the cities for economic reasons. The cities have absorbed the largest number of migrants provided by the rural hinterland. More intensive population movement was towards larger regional centers, resulting in some differences between urban settlements. The intensity and direction of movement of the population is largely dependent on the economic developed area. At the end of the twentieth century there were mass migrations from the territory of the former Yugoslavia. These migrations have affected to the demographic growth of population of Srem district.

Утицај чешких текстилаца на развој текстилне индустрије у Србији од почетка до друге половине XX века

Author(s): Mirjana Menković / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2017

The main topic of this study is influence of Czech nationals, primarily as immigrants, with capital invested in production of textile and textile products or with expert knowledge and entrepreneurship ability contributing to certain special features of Yugoslav and Serbian textile industry during the period of its development between the two World Wars. In this period the first industrial businesses for ready-to-wear and knitwear clothes have appeared, due to availability of locally manufactured woven and knit fabric, mostly produced from imported thread material. Both their initial establishment and later development were crucially influenced by foreign investments and immigrant workforce, hand-in-hand with craft workshops and communal manufactures specializing in finishing the pre-made products and creating the recognizable brand products. In addition to the predominant foreign capital from Austria, primarily Vienna, the next most important share was that of capital from Czechia, only distantly followed by that from England and Italy, with a significant contribution by the Jewish community from several European countries. At the same time, most of the qualified workforce immigrated from Czechia, including both ethnic Germans and ethnic Czech.
