Orač u modroj njivi neba (Prilog hermeneutici poezije Huseina Bašića)

Author(s): Ferid Muhić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 75-76/2017

Late Roman Period casket mount from Balatonlelle

Author(s): Gábor Serlegi / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2005

Excavations at the site of Balatonlelle-Kenderföld were conducted within the framework of the cooperation between the Directorate of the Museums of Somogy County and the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as part of the investment-driven excavations along the track of highway M7 in 2002. A short stretch of the track of the highway and the site of a future lay-by composed the excavation surface, which covered about four hectares (Fig. 1). The territory proved to have been inhabited in the prehistoric times (Late Neolithic, Early and Late Bronze Ages) and from the time that preceded the Roman occupation to the end of the Roman Period. The Late Iron Age and Roman Period pits uncovered outlined a uniform settlement structure. The finds recovered from the features imply that the rural settlement, whose traces were found, was inhabited for hundreds of years. In addition to the features that contained characteristic Celtic finds, there were many pits where the Roman material was mixed with Celtic finds, while the majority of the pits uncovered in the settlement contained only characteristic Roman vessel types. The find material delineates an undisturbed transition from the Late Iron Age to the middle of the 3rd century AD, since no break could be observed in the life of the settlement in this period and there was no trace of a sudden destruction or a systematic abandonment either.

Among the stamped tiles of the excavations which were carried out in the Roman military fort of Annamatia (Baracs) between 1999–2004 (Pannonia Inferior: Fig. 1–2)1 several stamps of the cohors VII Breucorum can be found (approx. 1:4 of the total material). In this shorter paper I will publish an earlier unknown stamp-type of this unit.

Author(s): Jean-Paul Guillaumet / Language(s): French Issue: 1-3/2006

The reconstruction of the neo-Assyrian army. As depicted on the Assyrian palace reliefs, 745-612 BC

Author(s): Tamás Dezső / Language(s): English Issue: 1-3/2006

Assyriologists and archaeologists have for long been interested in the study of the history of the Assyrian army. In spite of this, only a few monographic syntheses were written on the Assyrian army. Generally speaking we know more and more about the military history of Assyria and the details of the structure of the Assyrian army, but a synthesis which covers all the aspects of the problem has not been written. There is a large number of short articles on the Assyrian army, which include general summaries of the topic,, and articles elaborating certain aspects of the history of Assyrian army. Such aspects are the history of certain campaigns, the branches of service, e.g. the chariotry, the supply, reserves and logistics, weaponry, and tactical reinterpretation of certain battles of Assyrian military history. Undoubtedly, the reason of the hundred years of Assyrian military success is hidden in these details. However, little work has been done so far on the reconstruction of the Assyrian army as depicted on the Assyrian sculptures.

Galos en Hispania

Author(s): F. Beltrán Lloris / Language(s): Spanish Issue: 1-3/2006

Author(s): Nicola Bianca Fabry / Language(s): Italian Issue: 1-3/2006

Celtic Ireland: Problems of language, history and archaeology

Author(s): B. Raftery / Language(s): English Issue: 1-3/2006

It is with pleasure that I offer this short paper to Miklós Szabó, not only for his outstanding contribution to the field of Celtic archaeology, but also with sincere thanks for my many years of friendship with him. Seventy years ago R. A. S. Macalister, the first occupant of the Chair of Celtic Archaeology in University College Dublin, wrote of “that nightmare of ethnology, archaeology and, we may add, politics, the Celtic problem”. Three quarters of a century have passed yet still the Celtic problem remains, still there are many aspects of the Celtic conundrum which remain unresolved.

Négyszemközt. A TESZT egyszemélyes előadásairól

Author(s): Nóra Ugron / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 2/2017

The novelties of this year’s TESZT festival were the one-to-one performances, meant to be seen by one spectator or by a very small audience. These productions also raise the question of the form in which appropriate criticism could be written about them. In her text entitled Between You and Me Nóra Ugron answers this dilemma by adopting the form of a reflective diary in which she relates her personal experiences, but completes them with the experiences of other spectators/participants.

IST DAS BÖHMISCHE SPIELZEUG TATSÄCHLICH BÖHMISCH?

Author(s): Hana Dvořáková / Language(s): German Issue: 1-2/1999

Author(s): Luvszandas Erdeneszuvd / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2001

Author(s): Yuriy Evgenievich Medvedik / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 19/2011
