The unprecedented development of information and communication technologies is certainly a chance for man and the driving force of many changes in himself and in his life environment. However, the mere growth of the pace of change is not tantamount to going in the right direction. Hence, in addition to the constantly increasing technological possibilities, there is a need for an operational communication model, which in a growing complexity and fluidity of communication processes would provide a certain point of reference and support. Such a model, inspired by the theological dynamics of the event, is proposed by Pope Francis in his messages for World Communication Day.

The teaching of Christ and the Apostles is the key element of the revelation of God. Vatican II clearly connected the events and the words in the mystery of the revelation of God in the Dogmatic Constitution Dei Verbum, and later enhanced the importance of the explanatory word of which a proclamation is the special form. Therefore, the dogmatic constitution inspires us to reflect on the theological meaning of “the apostolic proclamation”. It begins in its specific “singular” character which points out and somehow codifies the beginning of the proclamation in the times of the Apostles. Then, it defines its meaning in the life of the Church and its “normative” influence on every proclamation within the Church. This article presents several introductory theological remarks that refer to the apostolic proclamation which, in the longer perspective, show the specific character and the meaning of the entire proclamation within the Church.

The evolutionary theology is a new branch of theology in which the dynamic picture of the origin and development of life in Universe by means of the adaptive processes governed by the natural selection is considered to be the adequate ontological foundation. The presented paper surveys the challenges that the implementation of the evolutionary ontology presses upon selected basic theological issues: methodology of theology, natural theology, the doctrine of the original sin and the problem of suffering and evil. It will be argued that the large extent of the expected modifications within the theological expression as the dynamic ontology is introduced qualifies as the change of the theological paradigm similarly to how the changes of the paradigms in sciences lead to the scientific revolutions. Finally, a novel model of the rationality of the development of the theological doctrine will be proposed where the hermeneutics of continuity and the hermeneutics of rupture are not in opposition but they contribute to the overall rationality as its complementary constitutive principles.

The article reflects on the topic The Role of the Church in Karl Rahner’s view. The identity of the Church cannot be reduced only to the community that administers the sacraments as the instruments of salvation. The Church is a sacrament given by Christ to the world. The Church is the reality of God’s saving dialogue with humanity. Only in God this dialogue may be realized individually or in a community and it begins with the sacrament of baptism. Baptism enables to partcipate fully in the Church. Baptism is the sacrament of God’s grace given to people as a justification. The justification always conquers human guilt and sins of those who receive baptism.

The article presents a real person who experienced the paschal mystery of Christ. The person is placed in a specific historical context. Moreover, the article shows the external circumstances of the Servant of God Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki’s life and the dynamics of his internal life from the paschal perspective that is rooted in baptism.A constant struggle with egoism as a continuous passage (Passover) from the own “I” – esse naturale to a new man – esse supernaturale; passing from shortcomings and weaknesses to virtue, from everything that enslaves to everything that gives freedom – all these brought visible fruit in the pastoral work. Indeed, all these may be possible only when the priest deliberately shares his fate with the fate of Paschal Christ. He is tormented by the Cross and crowned with the glory of the resurrection.

Development of modern-day media has a significant impact on many aspects of the human life. It is based on intensive technological changes that take place in media. They are a challenge for the researcher and a chance for the social life animateurs. Research on the importance of media for education has been conducted for many years. Their socialisation impact on the young generation is recognised and examined in many forms. Nonetheless, the paradigms that are adopted when conducting these studies need to be revised. New technologies change the nature of this socialisation impact. This paper attempts to revise these paradigms: treatment of the young users of new technologies as more competent in using them, unconditional recognition of technology as a tool to acquire knowledge, direction of media transformation. Pedagogy should take into account new paradigms to help a young adolescent to find himself/herself in the educational environment being highly saturated with new technologies, and, from the one hand, protect from completely new dangers and, from the other one, use the opportunity being provided by them.

The contemporary Church, in order to be effective in the area of education, must take up specific challenges. The first one is to establish and develop parents’ awareness that they are the earliest educators of their children. It is noticed that they quite often discharge themselves from providing religious education for their offspring. Whereas, a family is the Church that looks after the growth of its members. Another challenge is to renew the adult catechesis which does not exist in Poland. There is a close relationship between catechesis of parents and effective education of young people. It is also importat to develop parish catechesis as it is a primary path of Christian education. Such catechesis cannot be replaced by Religious Education at schools, as it is not the proper catechesis. Religious Education has little impact on religious revival of pupils in Poland. Needless to say, resence in the media has a very important role. Young people treat the media as their own living space which, nonetheless, can cause problems of alienation, addiction or chaos information leading to the inability to choose positive values.

The characteristics of contemporary Polish youth were carried out in the context of system transformation in Poland after 1989. The importance of institutional and cultural pluralism was pointed out. The dominant tendency, in the transformation of religiosity and morality of the young generation, is selectivity. Among many young people, individualism and ethical relativism are consolidated. Pastoral care of the youth pointed to appreciation of the pastoral care of families, development of religious groups and catechesis inspired by the idea of a catechumenate.

Pope Francis in exhortation Evangelii gaudium names four rules managing the development of community life and peacebuilding. He names them as evangelical criteria as well. He formulates them in the following way: the first rule – time exceeds space; the second one – unity predominates over conflict; the third one – reality is more important than idea; the fourth one – whole exceeds part. Pastoral look at these rules opens new horizons for theological analyses which may be translated into practical solutions, so essential for modern evangelization of the world.

Pope Francis often appeals to priests to follow the primacy of mercy in their lives and ministry. Since the Council of Jerusalem, the Church has followed the path of mercy. This issue was regularly brought up by the Pope in the Year of Mercy and is still raised today, even though less frequently. Pope Francis addresses the message of mercy also to priests. An analysis of his speeches shows that they aim not only at showing appreciation of charity in ministry but also at pointing towards a new style of ministry. The style entails accepting the primacy of mercy in priests’ lives and service. According to Pope Francis, being merciful is not a way of life but the only way of life. There is no other way to be a priest. The author of this paper offers an analysis of Pope Francis’ teaching, addressing the following issues: what is a mercy-driven style of ministry, what are its theological foundations and in what way should priests, servants of mercy, fulfill their ministry mission? The article is a review of Pope Francis’ teaching.

A revival of patriotic attitudes and national superiority can be observed in Poland nowadays, which poses a challenge for various social institutions, also for the Catholic Church. A document published in 2017 by the Polish Bishops’ Conference, titled Chrześcijański kształt patriotyzmu (The shape of Catholic patriotism), prepared by the Social Council, may be treated as the Church’s response to the new phenomenon. The article attempts to present patriotism as a challenge for the Church in Poland in the light of the abovementioned document. In contemporary times many families feel lonely and face various types of crisis. Their faith in the presence of Christ in the Sacrament of Marriage is weakened and thus it makes it more difficult for them to create a relationship and may cause disappointment and discouragement in the undertaken new way of life. Therefore, one of the initiatives of the Church is to help spouses and parents to cope with the problems through pastoral care which aims at accompanying them in growing in their mutual love and in living the Gospel. Pastoral accompaniment can involve gathering of married couples and families, non-member families as well as mixed marriages of different religious affiliation into Catholic associations. These kinds of pastoral actions should contribute to creating a marriage and family-friendly environment in the parish.

Pope Francis in the exhortation Amoris laetitia stresses the importance of the spirituality of the family, basing it on the affirmation of a self-imparting God and cooperation with grace. The family, contemplating the intra-Trinitarian relations, should shape its bonds on the communion of the Divine Persons. To achieve this goal, it is necessary for the family members to be open to meeting God in prayer and in the Eucharist, as well as in everyday life, which in this way acquires a theological dimension. Encompassed in this is the cross and the resurrection, a contemplation of the fullness that is in God as well as the experience of human limitations. In this context, the family, as the domestic Church, participates in the virtue of hope and sees its fulfillment in eternity.Openness to accepting God’s action in family life is, at the same time, a strengthening of the interpersonal bonds. This is expressed in definitive, exclusive and personal love and reaches its fullness in fruitful love. A significant trait of the spirituality of the family is the selfless reception of new life and the receiving and giving of love. This is accomplished through words and gestures of love, mutual care and support. The manifestation of the spiritual maturity of the family is its missionary character and hospitality. A strong family influences its surroundings and transforms the world into a home where there is true fraternity.
