Przystanek Woodstock XXI wieku, czyli teatralizacja społeczeństwa i zmierzch subkultur

Przystanek Woodstock XXI wieku, czyli teatralizacja społeczeństwa i zmierzch subkultur

Author(s): Mateusz Żyła / Language(s): Polish Issue: 29/2017

Przystanek Woodstock is one of the most important cultural events in Europe. The evidence for that are massive attendance and concerts of valued Polish and foreign artists who represent various music styles. The article is an attempt to define the identity of the 21st century festival community. To achieve this the author compares Przystanek Woodstock to the original Woodstock Festival and the Jarocin festivals the symbols of which are the actual slogans, subcultures and ideologies. In the case of the Przystanek Woodstock the ideological element has been replaced by the carnivalesque element and the event reminds of the Muggleton’s supermarket of styles and a fancy dress costume party. As a consequence, the community of the Przystanek Woodstock is internally dispersed what makes it difficult to find the right terminology covering such a multi-level phenomenon. In the final part of the article the author concludes that the 21st century Przystanek Woodstock may find its identity if there is, in the nearest future, integration resulting from defining an object of rebellion.

Проектът „Руски индекс за научно цитиране“ и българските изследователи

Author(s): Asen Kozhukharov,Viktor Glukhov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2018

The goal of the article is to reveal the extent of RSCI reflection of the Bulgarian publications/references in two aspects: the Bulgarian-language articles and the Bulgarian-language books. The comparative analysis was used in the study. It has been established that the Cyrillic alphabet and the Bulgarian language is not an obstacle to Russian Science Citation Index; it successfully indexes publications/references in Bulgarian. This fact indicates that Russian Science Citation Index is able to give an effective contribution to refine results of Bulgarian academic organizations ranking.

Grime jako muzyka i etnografia kryzysu

Author(s): Jacek Drozda / Language(s): Polish Issue: 03/2017

This article provides the reader with an overview of selected aspects of cultural significance of grime music and related phenomena. This musical genre creates an explicit background of contemporary social relations existing in multicultural, popular neighbourhoods of British cities. Grime’s relations with the media and the political surrounding partly resemble some features of the 1990’s “cultural boom”. However, grime and its network of relations live in the times of crisis. The overview of grime’s attributes presented hereinafter is an introduction to a wider study, currently in the process of development.

Obrazy miasta w utworach polskich grup alternatywnych lat 80. XX wieku

Obrazy miasta w utworach polskich grup alternatywnych lat 80. XX wieku

Author(s): Marek Jeziński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 03/2017

In the paper I analyse the ways in which a city, urbanism, city space and people living in urban environment are portrayed in Polish popular music, especially in the songs of Polish alternative bands of the 80. inthe 20th century. In popular music, the city is pictured in several ways, among which the most important is the use of words as song lyrics that illustrate urban way of life. The city should be treated as an immanent part of the rock music mythology present in the songs and in the names of bands. In the case of Polish alternative rock music of the 80.such elements are found in songs of such artists as Lech Janerka, Variete, Siekiera, Dezerter, Deuter, AyaRL. The visions of urbanism taken from their songs are the exemplifications used in the paper.

„Na kwadracie i na jego obwodzie”. Ursynowski rap lat 90.: konfrontacje, identyfikacje, aspiracje

Author(s): Piotr Kubkowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 03/2017

The text is an attempt to define the relationship between the urban space of Ursynów housing estates and the early works of Polish rap created in this district. The first Warsaw rappers were coevals of the district (born in late 70. and early 80.), also their nicknames were borrowed from the elements of its space, and most of the songs – in which they imitate the practices of black American rappers – were also devoted to Ursynów. Nevertheless, a crack in this narrative can be observed – the artists mostly origin from good families, their sterile auto-creations seem not to be compatible with American rap stereotypes as imitated. The author follows and interprets these narrative discontinuities.

Home as Emotional Space in Marilynne Robinson’s Diptych about Gilead

Author(s): Marta Koval / Language(s): English Issue: 04/2017

The article discusses the controversial nature of home in Marilynne Robinson’s novels Home and Gilead. Family histories of two aging ministers – the Rev. Ames and the Rev. Boughton – are narrated in a way that brings together transcendentalist admiration of human uniqueness, political urgencies of the mid-20th century, theological dilemmas, and ideas of domesticity, identity and belonging. The concepts of uprootedness (Simone Weil) and home as an asylum and prison (Tadeusz Sławek) are used to analyze Robinson’s novels. The article views the representation of home as a place that challenges the alleged American tolerance and open-mindedness and subverts traditional patterns of domesticity.

The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death, Doll-house Homicides, Foster Families, and the Subversion of Domesticity in CSI: Las Vegas

Author(s): Zofia Kolbuszewska / Language(s): English Issue: 04/2017

The article explores similarities and divergencies in how The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death, doll-house style dioramas built by Frances Glessner Lee in the 1930s and 1940s in order to train homicide detectives, and miniature crime scenes crafted by a protagonist of the season 7 of the TV show CSI: Las Vegas modelled on them, figure female frustration connected with the traditional shape of family and domesticity. The dioramas reveal and simultaneously contain the foundational Derridean darkness underlying the concept of domesticity.

Od jabłka do „chińczyka”. Praktyki żywieniowe bohaterek prawniczych seriali stacji TVN

Author(s): Karolina Walkiewicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 02/2018

In this article I try to analyze the dietary habits of the female protagonists of TVN legal TV series Magda M. and Agata’s Law. Although there’s been only a five year gap between original broadcasts of Magda M. and Agata's Law and action of both takes place in Warsaw lawyers environment, their lifestyle, food styles and upper-middle class problems are presented in a completely different way. Those TV series start a reflection on whether the protagonists of the series are paying attention to what they eat and whether food can be a determinant of social relationships. Analyzing the jungle of conflicting signals about diets, the growing trends for cooking and healthy nutrition, I ask the question about choices of independent and self-sufficient female protagonists of drama series, whose creators recognize that pro-health attitudes should be promoted among viewers.

“Things are changing under the skin of England” : Representation of immigrant encounters in Hanif Kureishi’s ‘Borderline’

“Things are changing under the skin of England” : Representation of immigrant encounters in Hanif Kureishi’s ‘Borderline’

Author(s): Yağmur Demir / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2017

This paper analyses Hanif Kureishi’s lesser known play Borderline (1981). In this work, written under the influence of 1980 Southall Riots, Kureishi addresses the problems of immigrants living in England and depicts how the idea of Englishness is challenged by the immigrants who are engaged in racist politics, suffer from identity crisis, and strive to gain a sense of belonging. Both first-generation and second-generation immigrants who are unable to feel the sense of belonging in the host land (England) are depicted as occupying in-between spaces. A portrait of an immigrant Pakistani family, each member of which goes through different stages of adjusting themselves to the society they have joined is presented along with other immigrant characters in the play. To fight with the injustice and racial abuse, a group of second-generation immigrants establish an organisation called Asian Youth Movement. Although it is implied that England and English people are not ready yet to embrace other cultures, immigrants, especially second-generation immigrants, endeavour to make England “habitable.” In the play, Pakistani immigrants are portrayed as subject to certain changes during the integration process, which in the long-term will have permanent effects on English national identity, culture and society. This paper aims to display how immigrants (despite being considered a threat) try to overcome the difficulties they face in the host land, and in the meantime inevitably make a change in the English culture.

Virgjëresha shqiptare, "Tjetri ekzotik" në rrëfimin e Alice Munro-së

Author(s): Edlira Macaj Tonuzi / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 35/2017

The concept of "the other" initially studied in philosophy as a self-reliance (Hegel), as an inter-subjectivity foundation (Husserl), as an inevitable manifestation (J. P. Sartre), as a mythical, historical, sociological approach, where "the other" is the female (S. De Beauvoir); as an opposite part of the self (Lacan), as the other after the other (Derrida) etc., but also studied in the literature, psychology, sociology and culture, has marked its development in several directions. "The other" is considered as the different, the unacceptable, the differentiator, the stranger, etc. depended from the study's point of view, thus generating the meaning that it takes in every case. This paper will examine how the "other", known since at the beginning as an Albanian typical social part (The sworn virgin), becomes a motif of inspiration, cultural lending and transformation in the Alice Munro’s story, gaining so new functions literary motivated. This "other" borrowed from far away, appears as the exotic "other". Taken from a distant reality for her (Munro’s) readers, especially vitalized with its exotically function, this "other" will be discussed in our point of view from a philosophical, moral, sociological and cultural perspective referred to the relevant theories (Derrida, Todorov, Baumann, Jenkins, etc.)The concrete subject of study is: an introduction to the typical sworn virgin as an Albanian social phenomenon. Defining it as "the other" and displaying its integration in the Munro’s text while facing the other culture. The Albanian sworn virgin as the Munro's "Exotic Other".The cultural refraction of this social "other" made by its unique code and recognized in its psychology of the place where it works, comes throughout the fantasy and narrative structures from an author without real contact with the culture from she borrowed the model. Reactivation in the exotically context, of the seduction from the unknown, vocative, etc., becomes a version of connection of time and mankind. It serves to the modern human being to accept and respect the other and it comes to us as a free choice where the literary fantasy disengages the connection from the genesis, and the whole scheme is understood by enriching the meanings that ‘the other’ takes as: the only one-other in relationships with others through differences or similarities.

Author(s): Sava Grozdev,Marga Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2016

The article presents the relation between morphodynamics and students’ intellect studied in the book Morphodynamics in the Development of the Noospheric Intellect. The delineation of this optimal trajectory is related to the introduction of a new complex concept which comprises ten other scientifically established concepts as well as eleven learning environments. One of these eleven learning environments (The Technological environment), also called NDM-environment is fundamental in the development of morphodynamics as an interdisciplinary scientific approach to mastering the power of thought. The book also studies the Self-Concept of mathematical modelling through a variety of mathematical models describing the dynamics of various processes in the development of students’ intellect throughout their lifetime. Относно рефлексивните умения и компетенции на учителя

Author(s): Rositza Ivanova-Armeykova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2016

The article examines the phenomenon of reflection as basic competency for the teachers to manage their behavior and skills to interact with the students and to disclose the technological part of the educational process. Jacques Delors justifies the four main guiding principles - educational steps in conjunction with the concept of lifelong learning and education in 21 century. The four main pillars of modern education, requiring the formation of four main groups of competences are: learning to know, to learn how to act, to learn to live together, to learn to be themselves. The effectiveness of a good teacher is a combination of many knowledge, reflexive skills and competences that are constantly evolving and enriching. The accumulated experience of the teacher is not a sufficient condition for professional development. Only the constant reflection, analysis and transformation of his own experience allowed him to develop his skills.

The research aims to explore the tendencies of integration between specific methods of education in the contemporary educational environment, in which each person combines types and levels of educational services on their own, and the teachers more and more frequently develop and realize lessons as a group. Basic methodical approaches are examined and presented as the core of a ‘meta-method’ for education. They are organized around the condition of forming transversal personal competencies as a goal of contemporary education.

Концептуален модел на рефлексивния ресурс на педагогическитефункции на учителя

Author(s): Diana Zhelezova-Mindizova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2016

The analysis of the traditional pedagogical qualities reveals the multifaceted profile of the teacher and confirms the thesis that reflective skills are an integral part of the pedagogical work. The outlined four main professional functions (communicative, constructive, organizational and gnostic) of the teacher are closely related, with mutual influence and impact. Each one is structured and implemented on the basis of the components of the others, while representing and providing other functions. The skill of pedagogical reflection is contained in every pedagogical function. This competence of the reflective teacher contributes to qualitative evaluation of his labor, and invariably to his professional upgrading, while the structured pedagogical reflection is displayed as an important component of the traditional professional pedagogical roles, functions and features.
