Author(s): Ingrid Shikova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 7/2016

The article examines the knowledge of European integration in the context of active citizenship and active learning. Nowadays the European dimension in education is becoming more complex, dynamic and multi-layered. Learning European Union at school as an essential element of the European dimension in education becomes a necessary condition for the preparation of active European citizens, ready to participate in the European public and political life. The article analyses the place of the European dimension in education on the political agenda of the European Union. In difficult times of growing Euroscepticism, nationalism and extreme populist movements, aggression, violence and xenophobia, serious social problems arising from the economic and financial crisis, the European institutions insist on promoting the European dimension in education in the spirit of European values. However the practical implementation at national level is difficult, mainly due to some resistance by some Member States of the European Union. The article summarizes the most characteristic features and difficulties in teaching European issues at schools in the Member States. The results of a survey among 259 teachers from primary and secondary schools in Bulgaria are presented. The article assesses the main difficulties and problems in teaching European issues at Bulgarian schools.

Онтологически и логически проекции на Лайбницовия Закон за достатъчното основание

Author(s): Silviya Kristeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2018

In the present paper we will systematize the theoretical premises and the deducing of Leibniz’s Principle of Sufficient Reason, as well as will examine its potential as generally valid law of thought and knowledge. Initially, the ontological bases of PSR must be delineated: the structure of existence, the defining of the “individual substance”, the Law of Continuity, which leads to the “ultimate ground” and from here to the concept of the “choice” of the supreme substance. We will analyze the formulations of PSR, which Leibniz gives in Monadologie and in his letters. In order to form the entire logical potential of PSR, we will look for its general parameters in Kant’s concept of thoroughgoing determination and in Hegel’s projection of the ground with its structure and with the interesting formula of the “complete ground”. All this leads to the perspective of discovering the total range of PSR, as founded and formulated by Leibniz, and gives us the opportunity to consider its new formulation related to the ground, which is completed in absolute sense with all its parameters.

Challenges Facing Implementation of Inclusive Education in Ukraine

Author(s): Mariana Karanevych,Oksana Kutsa / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2018

The relevance of the research is determined by the fact that implementation of inclusive education in Ukraine has been gaining paramount importance with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for all children for quality education and development of an inclusive society. Considerable progress has been made in implementing inclusive education in Ukraine as evidenced by the introduced amendments to the law of Ukraine on peculiarities of education accessibility for people with special educational needs (SEN) and issuing other legal and regulatory instruments. Nevertheless, it is obvious that putting all these into action is quite a highly complicated task. The purpose of this research is to reveal challenges which stand in the way of successful implementation of inclusion in Ukraine. To reach the set goal, along with theoretical methods, empirical (questionnaires designed by the authors and individual interviews) and statistical ones (for quantitative and qualitative processing and graphical representation of the received data) were used. Based on the carried out investigation, it was revealed that there are the following obstacles on the way of inclusive education implementation in Ukraine: skills of teachers; attitudes towards inclusion and disability among teachers, trainee teachers, parents, and peers; self-perception of children with SEN; school environment including difficulties in physical access; and expenses involved.

Author(s): Nikolay Tsankov,Veska Guyviiska / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2018

The main problem discussed in this article is related to the reasons as to how and why fear dominates students’ learning process in education institutions. A right approach toward the topic requires first an investigation of the cognitive aspects of fear, especially when we talk about nature and science knowledge and studies. The research reveals and analyses the main concept characteristics of fear, connected to different ways of thinking and understanding the learning process. Some fear barriers of the learning process have been outlined. The empirical defense of the ideas is based on the research ideas of Daniel Kahneman, an Israeli-American psychologist, and his work on the psychology of judgment and decision-making in conditions of inexplicitness. The empirical data used for the research includes inquiries into students and teachers’ opinion of fear of learning. It is based on the concept of cognitive niches in thinking, which become barriers to learning. In the field of natural science education this problem deserves special attention.

Проблеми при обучението по физика във ВВМУ „Н. Й. Вапцаров“

Author(s): Antonina Hristova,G. Vangelov,I. Tashev,M. Dimidov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2018

In technical universities the discipline of Physics is studied by the majority of the students. Many of the first-year students at the Military Academy „N. J. Vaptsarov“do not have the necessary groundwork for this. The weaker results of the students in recent years show that they are not ready to acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills for the short time of fundamental preparation. Even the most elementary university course teaches many new key concepts that remain undigested from the beginning. This leads to a misunderstanding or mechanical reproduction of their applications, which is the complete opposite of the ultimate goal of training future engineers. The presented project studies the dependency between the different levels of preparation of the students in mathematics and physics at the beginning of the semester and their results at the end of the training. For the purpose of the study, 215 first-year students were interviewed and a statistical analysis of the collected data was carried out. The obtained results will help to develop, discuss and propose initiatives to improve the training in the Department of Mathematics and Physics.

Health education is aimed at developing skills to create or maintain a healthy lifestyle, voluntary adaptation to health-friendly behavior. It is seen as a process of lifelong learning for people how to live, to maintain and improve their own and other people’s health. Приобщаващо образование – интерпретации и разбирания

Author(s): Siyka Chavdarova-Kostova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2018

Inclusive education is one of the modern tendencies in the contemporary world, European and Bulgarian educational policy and practice. Regardless of the similarities in its definitions, there is a variety of interpretations and understandings. Such variety enriches the conception, but sometimes it makes difficult its realization on the level of the school practice. There are discrepancies also between the levels of the educational policy and academic interpretations. It is not easy to work as a teacher in such dynamic of interpretations and understandings about the inclusive education. Now, this is a big challenge for the teacher training in Bulgaria how to present the inclusive education to the teachers in a methodological and practical way – with the variety of its aspects in a limited time.

Development of Entrepreneurial Competences in Primary School System in the Republic of Croatia, with a Focus on Competences for Social Entrepreneurship

Author(s): Kristina Lauš,Siniša Opić / Language(s): English Issue: 6/2018

In order for education system objectives to have a positive impact on the economic prosperity of the country, but also with the aim of developing a “culture of self-reliance”, entrepreneurial competence is one of eight key competences whose development is recommended by the European Union. This paper analyzes to what extent the learning outcomes defined by the Croatian national curriculum encourage the development of entrepreneurial competence in elementary education in Croatia and to what extent is this contributed by the Primary School Curriculum. The focus is also on promoting development of competences for social entrepreneurship, a business model that is not only aimed at gaining profit, but also an active contribution to well-being and sustainability of the local community.First part of the paper defines the area of competence and social entrepreneurship. The central part of the paper consists of an analysis of the National Curriculum Framework and a review of the Primary School Curriculum and the competence of teachers and professors. The paper also analyses curricular documents with the current Comprehensive Curricular Reform. In the final part, recommendations are given to improve the existing model for development of entrepreneurial competences. The analysis showed that necessity for developing entrepreneurial competence is recognized at the national level, but the incentive is primarily expressed at a declarative level and requires a systematic upgrade of the existing curriculum, and in particular the education of teachers and professors. There is an opportunity to upgrade it within the current proposal of Comprehensive Curricular Reform.
