The article reveals the features of everyday life in student dormitories of universities or postsecondary educational institutions in new urban areas in the middle of the 20th century in the cities of Siberia. As specific regions of mass housing of the 1950 – 1960s the author studies the areas related to the types of the workers’ (Omsk town of oilmen) and the scientific (Novosibirsk Akademgorodok). The study is based mainly on the methods of oral history and has an interdisciplinary character. The author concludes that the sociocultural milieu of those dormitories had a significant influence. It determined not only the home dimension of students’ everyday life, but also some mental guidelines of students of a particular area. In those new dormitories had formed the elements of everyday life which later on characterized students’ life.

The article is giving a short presentation of the notion and role of the social security law (the social law). The social security law is a contemporary branch of law that has evolved at the stage when activities of the government in the field of social security were so intensified that they necessitated research. Social security law provides protection against social risks. The goal of this branch of law is to ensure a dignified existence for all people but it is also expected to enable fulfillment of their other social needs related to the coexistence within community. In particular, it refers to welfare services and social inclusion. Social inclusion implies that each individual shall be enabled to achieve personal fulfillment and to participate in all social activities.

In this article I study crisis as the ‘politics of others’ and through that attempt to sharpen a historiography of crisis centred on struggles by subalterned groups for meaningful lives. Analysing crisis may be an opportunity to look at the complex relations, politics and struggles that constitute large concepts – like, for example, capitalism. Crisis historiography thus is an opportunity to open up large concepts that can give rise to structural explanations of crisis, invisibilising politics and struggles, particularly those of sublaterned groups.

The article’s purpose is to analyse the triad of ‘the political – politics – political power’ as a self-projection, self-representation, self-mediation of the political community; the political as a mediating symbolic structure and medium, the political order (nomos) as transcending all types of order, and politics as an activity devoid of its proper subject and finding its institutional form in political power and in the production of pictures of visibility.The starting thesis is that power is not a ‘pre-foundation’, ‘essence’ or ‘substance’ of appearances and visibilities. There is no such thing as the political, politics and political power ‘in themselves’, they always appear as enmeshed in visibilities and pictures of visibility. Thus a new research field is outlined at the borderline of the sociology of public space and the sociology of politics – the field of historical sociology of political visibilities.

The main thesis of the article is that both colonialism and communism represent Western institutional and ideological models, implemented in social environments quite different from that of the West. Considering that classical social science, with its main approaches and concepts, is a product of modern West European society, the article poses the question whether post-colonial and post-communist studies could borrow paradigms and concepts that originated in a different social context and that have acquired a specific meaning that refers to that context. On the other hand, the fixation on the uniqueness of colonial and communist societies could produce a closed, idiosyncratic, indigenous paradigm. The paper discusses those epistemological problems that are related to the question of multiple and alternative modernities. The author proposes the concept of overlapping modernities for the understanding of the specificity of modernization processes in South East Europe.

Как объяснил еще Ж. Бодрийяр, в обществе потребления мифологизируется и отчужда- ется от начального смысла само потребление. Совокупными стараниями социологов, филосо- фов, культурологов, психологов и экономистов понятие «потребление» превратилось в много- слойную абстракцию. Ведь под этим словом понимается (у пионеров проблемы — Т. Веблена, М. Вебера, В. Зомбарта, К. Маркса и др.) «героико-эротическая аффектация», «стремление быть замеченным», «потребление престижа», «товарный фетишизм», «религиозное благочес- тие», «символический обмен» и многое-многое другое. «Потребление» сегодня выполняет ту же функцию, что и «либидо» в психоанализе — оно, с одной стороны, все легко объясняет, а с другой — ничего в отдельности не проясняет, сводя любое периферийное явление к централь- ному моменту в его «сублимации» или «переносе»*. Вдобавок «потребление», как и «либидо», стимулирует дальнейшую бурную деятельность по производству новых (или, скорее, предска- зуемых и старых) слов и трактовок, ризоматически размножающихся из общего корня.

Права на природата – насред екологичната есхатология и правната теория

With the increase of the ecological problems and most of all with the increase of the adverse to human beings climate changes, the question of nature protection from human impact is (more) often raised. This brings a number of ethical and legal questions, including those with the potential to change the subjective structure of the currently existing law. The article attempts to systematize the holders of legal personhood and to locate potential areas for the rights of nature in the law structure. We could outline a “full range of legal entities”, which includes two major categories: physical persons and legal entities. Physical persons can be divided into two groups: people (human persons) and other individuals (nonhuman persons). Legal entities can also be divided into two groups: social entities, the most common of which are corporations, and natural entities, the most common of which are ecosystems. So the outlined categories and groups are symmetric: on one side there are animals as “nonhuman” physical persons and natural formations as legal entities, and on the other side – people as “human” physical persons and their social formations as legal entities. This symmetry in the delineation of possible legal personhoods creates conditions for balance on a structural level – at the level of structure of law there are already comparable mechanisms for balancing the interests of people with those of animals, and the interests of corporations with those of ecosystems.

ПРАКСЕОЛОГІЧНА ТИПОЛОГІЗАЦІЯ НАСИЛЬСТВА: СОЦІОЛОГІЧНО-ПРАВОЗНАВЧІ ВИМІРИ

Problem setting. Violence now recognized to be a serious and widespread social and legal problem worldwide, but with more than several categories of violence, each of which has its own social and legal consequences.Recent research and publications analysis. It shows that there has been much terminological controversy on the definition and just what actions should be covered, especially those of social character. Some preliminary efforts have focused on developing of praxeologically focused classification system. Paper objective. The article argues perspectives of the sociological approach development to the analysis of the phenomenon of violence, in the praxeological focus of "social action". Violence is not one social or legal pattern but several. Paper main body. The praxeological nature of violence has led to a number of observes classification schemes for interdisciplinarily studying its component parts. Structural classification of “social violence” by its key dimensions / parameters is proposed, primarily subjective, objective, subject, contextual, and also structural and institutional. Each criterial classification provides a more specific definition with associated advantages and disadvantages. Those criteria are quite frequently combined to examine particular forms of violence, especially those of social character. Although not conceptually clean, those classification generally observed and specifically analyzed has proved useful both in its sociological and legal perspectives. Clearly, different classification approaches serve different purposes. To be of not an exclusive classification proposed to cover all types of violence, but rather provides some conceptual organization for structuring efforts for further interdisciplinarity studies. Special attention is given to “cyberspace”, in terms of “cyber violence” in general and “cyberbullying” as its key type. Conclusions of the research. In the general context of the development of interdisciplinarity the prospect of a sociological and legal approach to further social studies of this phenomenon are outlined.

The system of ideas about honour as one of the key components in the noble culture has been a subject of scientific research many times, but as a rule, the term “nobility” referred only to men. However, the concept “honour”, as well as the consequent ideas about standard behavior, had considerable gender specifics. The article represents the gender analysis of the concept “honour” on the basis of both female and male sources of personal origin, and also didactic and pedagogical treatises and works of fiction of the end of the XVIII —the first half of the XIX c. The ethical requirements imposed by the Russian noble community on men concentrated around their personal qualities (boldness, courage, strength of mind, self-control, fidelity), for the women this concept had only one — sexual — dimension. Not only personal honour of the girl and woman, but also the honour of all her family and the family of the husband depended on the implementation of obligations to control “passion”. The reputation of the honest woman could be affected both by her own and her husband's behavior. The noblewoman was not the subject of action, but the object of men's manipulations, but this fact didn't relieve her of the responsibility, forcing to toughen the internal taboos even more. The system of the social expectations concerning noble women didn’t really change, and such requirements formed behavioral model of the Russian noblewoman throughout XVIII — the first half of the XIX c.

The article tests an approach to the problem field of socioanalysis – the suffering from society – departing from a basic biopolitical distinction proposed by Judith Butler: between ungrievable and grievable lives. This distinction, into which the anticipation of death and dying is coded, is thematized in two aspects. In the context of the analyhtic of biopower, it is considered as heuristic with regard to a possible concept of biopower unconscious, as well as to outlining the category of ‘radical otherness’ in the field of biopolitics today. In the context of socioanalysis, the figure of (un)grievability, as proposed by Butler, is analyzed with an interest to the work of mourning and the related modalities of intersubjective time in death and suffering. The surviving and the impossible synchronization between lives in the meeting with death are conceived as a constitutive condition for the practices of caring-for (correspondingly, of therapeutic dispositives) permeated by strategies of giving – or taking – time. In conclusion, the diagnosis of the present time as ‘biopolitical management of the ungrievable’ and reduction of grief is related to the problem, raised by the late (‘anthropological’) Bourdieu, of the power to dispose of the time of the Others.

This paper deals with the question of whether there is an analogy between the economic and political market. The quest is conducted in three parts. Part one shows that the analogy between the economic and political market holds, as there are many important similarities between the two markets. Part two demonstrates that some vital theorems, which hold on the economic market, do not hold on the political market. This is demonstrated in the case of the Coase’s theorem. Finally, part three deals with the market and state failure. After discussion of the topic in the three parts, one may conclude that the analogy between two markets works, but that they function with significant differences. Te differences are induced via different definitions of property rights, the character of the output, the system of incentives and the enforcement of contract. In a word, the political market is less perfect than the economic one, but it is a market.

Привязанность в действии: психологическая теоретизация связи ребенка и матери в (пост) социалистической Чехии

Attachment theory has been subject to sustained critique by radical psychologists and feminists. The critical stance towards attachment theory among western experts is a matter of long-term analytical practices; neither the work of John Bowlby nor the popular socialist version of attachment theory by the Czech psychologists Zdeněk Matějčekand Josef langmeier has been the subject of such revision. Attachment theory still provides the key arguments in favor of deinstitutionalization and developing family placement in postsocialist countries. This obvious idealization of attachment theory by Czech psychologists limits access to the western critical tradition and blocks the deconstruction of Matějček and Langmeier. This essay attempts to overcome these limitations. A review of critiques of John Bowlby’s theory and his adherents is juxtaposed with a reconstruction of the history of attachment theory in socialist Czechoslovakia. In the first part, the essay embeds Western arguments within the concept of epistemic in justiceas developed by Miranda Fricker. In line with the principle of historicization, the next part explores the combination of forces that drove the formation of attachment theory in Czechoslovakia. The final part investigates contemporary attempts to apply attachment theory to the issue of forced removal of Roma children from their families and examines the options for preventing this practice and the placement of Roma children into residential care settings.
