Kassi maja. Kodu kuvand ja inimsuhted Mati Undi 1960.-1970. aastate loomingus

Author(s): Maarja Vaino / Language(s): Estonian Issue: 04/2015

Mati Unt’s image as a writer is closely related to existentialism, which is evidenced by his portrayal of home. Many of Unt’s characters live in temporary rooms, without really feeling at home anywhere, and their relations with other people are complicated and often violent. And yet, Unt’s existentialism is not absolute. His alienation is often conditioned by the public sphere, the (Soviet) system and its influence on human relations. Rather, the characters created by the young Unt are trying to bridge the crevice of alienation, to catch „a signal of help”, to make contact with other levels or spheres. This is why the representation of home and space by the young Unt is never just everyday, containing metaphysical, even religious subtexts as well as psychoanalytic traces. Surprisingly, although Unt liked introducing himself as a city person, his archetypal home is a farmhouse. However rare the farmhouse motive in Unt’s works, the toponymics in those few texts is extremely similar to the author’s childhood home.

Psühhoanalüütiline Unt

Author(s): Maarja Vaino / Language(s): Estonian Issue: 03/2016

A possible approach to the oeuvre of Mati Unt (1944-2005) has to do with psychoanalysis. Mati Unt’s interest in psychology and psychiatry developed during his student years at the University of Tartu, reaching its height during the theatre reform of the 1960s-1970s. A psychoanalytical substrate can be observed in both Unt’s prose and drama, as well as in his stage productions. The analysis is based on C. G. Jung’s theories and Unt’s creative interpretation of Jung’s views. Also, some light is thrown on how Unt’s interest in psychoanalysis was kindled by his sensitive nature and some facts of his personal life.

Психологическа същност и възрастови граници на старостта: критичен анализ

Author(s): George A. Madzharov,Velislava Chavdarova,Maria N. Hristova,Ivan S. Stoyanov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

Medical care today prevail mortality in childhood, granting thus each born person a chance to survive until old age, and creating additional period in human life. This period is not presented in animal world so evolution has not embedded adaptive mind and body abilities. On the contrary, evolution embedded a degradation of existing abilities. Old age begins between 60 and 65, and then passes several phases. Intellectual processes slow down memory, thinking, savvy, responsiveness tend to reduce. Significant changes of social position (relations with others) take place. After 40 deliberate memory gradually, in old age faster and faster decay. Adding new content to memory become harder, unlike the available content which is easily lost. Memories become less detailed, though the main points of events are still presented. As a result a sense of a time accelerating appears. The amount of communication, reading, language usage of the old people tends to decrease. Emotionality tends to equalization (leveling). Strong positive emotions occur rarer and shorter; emotions ‘fade’. This tranquility however is not analog of happiness, but more like a growing indifference (apathy) to the outside. Dependence on others increases (self-dependence decrease), elements of social isolation have place.

Самоорганизующаяся психологическая система в парадигме жизнесозидающей креативности (ЖСК)

Author(s): Andreyanna Ivanchenko / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

This article describes the principles of construction and structural regularities of the functioning of a self-organizing psychological system (SPS), being analized like a tutor system or a training one. Such SPS represents a hierarchically interconnected multi-functional dynamic macrosystem. The peculiar features and conditions of the creative life-orientation (CLO) disclosure within a small social group in the linguistic teaching process (namely, while studing theItaly linguistic-cultural realities) have been examined. The preventive sanifying and recreative nature of the CLO that acts as an effective anti-stressor has been identified. The CLO role that leads to person’s evolution and synergistic activity, being in increase according to its stabilization in the subsequent stages of person’s existence, has been fixed.

Теоретические основы социального Психоанализа

Теоретические основы социального Психоанализа

Author(s): Lyudmila Storizhko / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2020

The theoretical provisions of social psychoanalysis are based on the consideration of the following basic components of the psyche: consciousness and unconscious, individual and collective unconscious, social unconscious. Sigmund Freud one of the first has been researched internal incentives, under the influence of which, all mental human`s processes come into effect, which determine the motivational structure of human behavior. Through the prism of unconscious appetence, he tried to consider as the behavior of an individual person and the whole history of the development of humanity. Unconscious in Carl Jung’s understanding acquires a new meaning: it relates with historical and spiritual layers of humanity experience. It was Z. Freud and C. Jung who formulated the basic theoretical principles of social psychoanalysis about the “deep” and “peak” motivation of human behavior.

Author(s): Sevler Yildiz,Aslı Kazğan,Osman Kurt,Burcu Sırlıer Emir / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Suppl. 1/2021

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of dissociative symptoms and the relationship between childhood traumas and clinical variables in individuals who have committed crimes and are followed up in the forensic psychiatry service. 55 patients followed in Elazig City Hospital High Security Forensic Psychiatry (YGAP) service were included in the study. A semi-structured sociodemographic data form, Childhood Trauma Scale (CTQ-28) and Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES) were administered to all participants. The DES total score was 26.7±11.9 in delinquent patients with a diagnosis of mood disorder. A positive and significant correlation was found between DES amnesia, depersonalization/derealization subscores and CTQ-28 physical abuse, physical neglect, sexual abuse and minimalization subscores. According to the research findings, the frequency of having dissociative experiences is low in delinquent mood disorder patients, while it is high in other patient groups. It also suggests that it should be routinely investigated in terms of dissociative symptoms and childhood neglect-abuse in psychiatric patients who have committed crimes.

Author(s): Elif Özcan Tozoğlu,Gökhan Özpolat / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Suppl. 1/2021

The main aim of this study is to investigate the difference of transition from oral to long-acting antipsychotic treatments on caregiver burden of patients with schizophrenia. Other factors that may be related to the burden were also discussed. Caregivers (n:138) of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia for at least one year and who received oral paliperidone or aripiprazole were included in the study. The Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale (ZCBS) and The Clinical Global Impression-Disease Severity (CGI-S) were administered at baseline and 1 year after switching to long-acting injectables. Demographic characteristics of caregivers and patients were evaluated to determine other factors associated with the burden. Significant decreases were found in the ZCBS and CGI-S scores after transitioning to long-acting injectable antipsychotics. When the groups using paliperidone and aripiprazole were compared; the decrease in ZCBS scores was not significant, the decrease in CGI-S scores was significant.Caregiver burden was positively correlated with patient's age, CGI-S score, time spent in the same house, duration of illness, and the number of hospitalizations. A significant negative correlation was found among the caregiver’s age, educational level and income. In conclusion, in the present study the importance of switching to long-acting injectable antipsychotics, which is a modifiable factor, to reduce caregiver burden was emphasized.

In prehistoric times, people thought that mental illnesses were caused by supernatural forces. For this reason, it is long overdue to accept the view that mental illnesses are diseases that need to be “treated” in the historical process. During these periods, when scientific approaches were not developed, those with mental disorders were branded with adjectives such as “guilty”, “sinful”, “mad”. Basing the approach to these patients on scientific foundations was not possible before the middle of the nineteenth century. In contrast to the negative approaches to those with mental disorders in the past, it is seen that issues such as psychiatric education, patient-therapist communication, psychosocial initiatives are becoming important today and motion pictures are one of the tools that can be used in the context of embodying these issues. It is thought that examining the practices in the field of psychiatry in the past, as embodied in the movies, will be beneficial in terms of seeing the difference between the past and the present in terms of training to be given to mental health professionals and informing the society about attitudes towards individuals with mental disorders. As a matter of fact, ignorance of unsuccessful approaches and practices in the past may cause similar failures to be experienced again. In this context, in this review, in which the approaches and practices in the field of psychiatry in the past are presented as they are embodied in the film, it is aimed to examine the movie “The Professor and The Madman” in the light of literature information in terms of the history of psychiatry and psychiatric treatments. In this way, it is thought that today’s psychiatric practices and opinions can be developed more in favor of individuals with mental disorders. In this respect, it is suggested that the film be recommended to health professionals in the field of mental health and students studying in this field.

Author(s): Fatih Sahin,Özlem Şahin Altun / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 3/2022

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that affects a person’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Although the symptoms of schizophrenia vary from person to person, the course of the disorder is generally not mild. In addition to these effects of the disease, patients have to struggle with both social and family problems. Having positive feelings such as hope and happiness for patients during this hard period can be a source of motivation in coping with the disease. Indeed, happiness is a basic dimension of a person’s life, related to both functionality and achievement. Happiness is a power that supports mental and psychological well-being in many fields, from healthy living to social interaction in individuals. Happiness in schizophrenia points out less depressive mood, less social isolation, and a more hopeful process for the future and treatment process during the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of schizophrenia. However, limited data are available on happiness in schizophrenia due to the long-standing belief that anhedonia is an inherent feature in schizophrenia. In this context, this study aims to create awareness about the ignored concept of happiness in patients with schizophrenia and to evaluate happiness in schizophrenia with its clinical and functional results.

Purpose of the research to determine the problem history of the cases with suicidal behavior, the availability of professional support resources they consult, the level of effectiveness of these supports in ensuring well-being and current needs; to determine the structure and deficiencies of the social service and social assistance network for the solution of suicide, which is a public health problem, with a generalist social work perspective. In this study, which was planned with a qualitative approach, the cases determined by the purposive sampling technique and their relatives were interviewed using semi-structured interview forms. 31 cases were reached, a total of 55 people, 21 of whom were suicide attempters, were interviewed. In the study, case reports were prepared in the light of the data obtained as a result of the questions directed to the individuals who committed suicide and their relatives. The data were categorized by the researcher and analyzed descriptively. In this way, the data were defined and the data that were linked between them were brought together with the support of the literature. When the data is evaluated, it is seen that the problems causing suicidal behavior in 29 cases have a long history, and the cases and their families have complex problems. During the interviews, it was determined that not all of the relevant persons had a history of contact with a social worker in any health institution. These people, who have a history of chronic disease, a history of addiction, anger control problems, chronic family problems and long-term financial difficulties; he did not contact social workers in health institutions even for psychological support and counseling. This situation shows that there are deficiencies in both the detection of cases, the quality of service and the access of services to people, as well as the number and competence of personnel.

U NESVJESNOM STANUJE POLITIČKO: DEMOKRATIJA KAO BRATOKRATIJA

U NESVJESNOM STANUJE POLITIČKO: DEMOKRATIJA KAO BRATOKRATIJA

Author(s): Bernard Harbaš / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 1/2022

Even though Freud and Lacan didn’t deal with political philosophy, their theories made a significant influence on poststructuralist political theory. Freud’s myth on the killing of the father is fundamental for understanding the emergence of modern state, democratic and organized society. Namely, according to this myth, Father and the leader of the horde appropriates all women of the horde for himself, whereas out of fear of being left without them, he banishes all male children from the family community. Jealous brothers return to the horde, kill the father, dismember his body and each of them appropriates a wife for himself. Because of the killing of the father brothers start to feel quilt which leads Freud to conclude that the dead father becomes stronger when dead then while he was alive. One can perceive from this theory the way in which monogamous relations replace the polygamous ones and absolutism is transformed into an equal participation of all citizens in the government. In other words, this tells us about the transformation of a disorganized society into a modern and organized state. Lacan’s theory shows that the main characteristic of the subject is deficiency which is the consequence of entering the figure of father into the relationship between a child and a mother and his prevention to realize their desire. Since the father prevented this relationship, the subject remains forever marked by the principle of desire he was denied realizing. In Freud’s theory about the killing of the father and his understanding of the excessive closeness and equality among brothers, Jacques Derrida notices traces of democracy. However, democracy that emerged on the fundaments of fraternocracy excludes all those who do not belong to the order of brothers (for examplesisters or brothers from another family). Democracy accepts only those who are same and who can be subsumed under the order of male principle. Derrida therefore assumes that the classic definition of democracy which considered its members equal and close should be transformed into political order based on distance. Namely, according to Derrida, along with the fraternity, notion of friendship is also crucial for democracy. It represents the fundament of a political community, but also a stumbling stone of contemporary political theory and democratic social order. A friend is the one who is close and who is appropriated. According to ancient theories, a true friend should have his own duplicate or a copy in a friend. It means that friends are similar, same, or close, and in order that two people be friends, they cannot differ from each other. Derrida thinks that friendship as fraternity and excessive closeness causes conflict. Fraternity creates hatred towards those who do not belong to the order of brothers. Because of that, fraternal relationships and excessive friendship should be reconsidered because they lead to wars and conflicts. True democracy without potential conflict is the one which excludes brothers and friendship and accepts hatred and distance. Like Derrida, Jean-Luc Nancy claims that authentic community is the one which includes distance and particularity. Namely, he analyses Lacan’s statement that “there is no sexual relation” as a state in which both subjects have their own perception of sexual phantasy. According to Nancy, Lacan’s statement explains in the best way the concept of community in which there is no possibility of identification. “There is no sexual relation” does not only mean that each subject has its own desire which cannot be imbedded into the desire of the other subject – partner, but that each individual is unique and different. Because of their uniqueness and otherness there is no possibility of forming a communion, but only a community in which individuals live without closeness and sameness.

O nekim aspektima ženske čudovišnosti u predajama

Author(s): Nataša Polgar / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 2/2022

This article examines Foucault’s thesis about the monstrous as an empty category and J. Cohen’s thesis about the monstrous as the return of the repressed. The data comes from oral tradition and literature, more specifically from a corpus of belief legends that are typically considered mythical, mythological or demonological. Using etymological information, as well as the three basic components of the monstrous – the aesthetic, the ethical/moral and especially the spatial component – the article shows how the monstrous is constructed and represented in belief legends, and that it is – to this day – usually coded as female. Relying on psychoanalytic criticism, the paper discusses the functions of monstrous female beings in oral culture: in addition to having demonstrative and cautionary attributes, they also include an affective element, particularly fear and anxiety related to the female body and its (transformative and fluid) abilities.

За религията без илюзия

Author(s): Vladimir Nikolaev Gradev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 12/2022

Freud was a militant atheist. For him, belief in God was an infantile regression. Hostile as he was to religion, he nevertheless recognized it as an answer to man’s ontological anxieties. He hoped that, in abandoning religion, man would understand his true position in the universe as a mature being who faces reality. What he missed is that most people cannot bear much reality.

Effect of Emotional Content on Memory Characteristics: Emotional Valence, Emotional Intensity, and Individual Emotions

Author(s): İnci Boyacıoğlu,Kıvanç Konukoğlu,Tolga Ergiyen / Language(s): English Issue: Suppl. 1/2022

The aim of the present study is to examine the relationships between the emotional valence and emotional intensity of autobiographical memories and the phenomenological characteristics of memories in the context of individual emotions and memory types. Seven hundred and sixty-four students (514 female, 250 male) from Dokuz Eylul University participated in the study. Participants were asked to recall an childhood memory, a self-defining memory, or a romantic relationship memory. After thinking about the memory they remember, they were requested to fill out the Autobiographical Memory Characteristics Questionnaire and a scale for intensity of individual emotions. Regression analyses showed that emotional intensity of the memories predicted the sensory details, rehearsal, and preoccupation with emotions. In moderatedmediation analyses, mediating effects for emotional intensity were detected between individual emotions and memory characteristics, except for the negative self-esteem emotions. Among these analyses, a moderating effect of memory types was detected only for the relationships between hostile emotions and anxiety-related emotions and the memory characteristics through the mediation of emotional intensity. While the intensity of singular emotions showed stronger relationship with emotional valence, the main variable that predicted memory characteristics overall was the emotional intensity

„Nie z nienawiścią, lecz z pogardą patrzy kot na psa”. Čapkowskie uwagi na temat psychiki zwierzęcej

Author(s): Anna Gawarecka / Language(s): Polish Issue: 31/2022

he book by Karl Čapek Měl jsem psa a kočku (I had a dog and a cat) appeared (posthumously) in 1939 in the Czech publishing market. This publication, which consisted of several essays, a story about the fox terrier Dašenka and a humorous guide to dog breeds, was mostly treated by literary scholars as some kind of hybrid bricolage of a miscellaneous texts. The animal stories published in this book draw their thematic material from everyday and empirical observation and do not need to use systems of cultural references and imagination. Their reception, however, requires common knowledge, available to those (i.e., in fact, to everyone) who have ever dealt with domestic animals and thus are able to confirm these observations, confront them with their own experience and, as a result, appreciate the accuracy and insight of the diagnoses offered by the author. The paradoxical conclusions of Čapek’s remarks throw readers out of their cognitive routine and show that the problem of animal emotional and intellectual life is more complicated than is usually considered. The narrative portraits of dog and feline heroes are primarily used to build anthropological models for which the patterns of animal behaviour constitute a convincing (because reduced to simplified “basic” behavioural matrices) exemplification.
