The aim of this paper is to show how the convict education system functions in Poland, as well as its basic assumptions and legal foundations. This paper was written primarily based on Polish legal regulations, statistical data and selected specialist publications.People in prisons and detention centers have the right to start or continue education. This is guaranteed and regulated by legal regulations, primarily the Executive Penal Code.Examining the issues of educating prisoners is justified by such factors as the specificity of this group, the importance of education in human life and the value of acquiring knowledge for the prisoner and society.Committing a crime and being in prison adversely affects the relationship with the labor market and the environment of potential employers. Educating prisoners is beneficial for themselves, their families and society. Education can be an important factor in social readaptation. The education of prisoners is one of the most important elements of penitentiary interactions in conditions of isolation. Teaching is of particular value. Its goal is to prepare prisoners to undertake and maintain work after being released. In prison, it is important to create conditions conducive to obtaining an education and completing professional qualifications. Whether or not prisoners improve their qualifications, learn discipline or obtain a high school diploma depends on whether they commit a crime again or start living in accordance with social norms. The education of prisoners also means that they do not have to rely on social assistance benefits and instead can pay their financial obligations. What is of greatest value is their return to the family, society and work, and adhere to the principles of community life.

The article specifies the scope of specialist training in the Polish Navy, taking into account the transformation of the security environment. In the author’s understanding, this system consists of both schools educating officers and a training process carried out in a military unit, supplemented by exercises and various forms of supplementary education. Its thematic scope, apart from general knowledge, should result from the specifics of the national security policy, conditions for conducting activities under the cooperative system (military alliances, ad hoc coalitions and regional arrangements) and the adopted concept of the development of armed forces and their technical equipment. In the case of marine forces, additional factors affecting the shape of the training system include international requirements concerning the scope of specialist knowledge of sea workers and the specificity of independent operation on sea areas, requiring the ability to make a decision with a limited impact on the final shape of the high-level command. For this reason, the article does not fully address the scope of general training and the level of maritime training, since the application of the STCW Convention requirements is a basic requirement. On the other hand, with reference to combat training, it was considered that during the study the future officers of the Polish Armed Forces should only become acquainted with the principles of conducting combat operations of naval forces, equipment and weapons and command elements, and practical skills – should be successively acquired as part of training activities in military units and specialist courses. This is defined by the way of organizing the training system in the Polish Armed Forces, which should be divided into three stages. The proposed solutions are the original concept of not only the training process at the Polish Armed Forces, but a vision of using the potential of naval forces to implement the policy of the state, in which the training system plays a significant role.

This article draws on qualitative data of U.S. high school students considering their place in the adult world; the purpose is to investigate Jeffrey Arnett’s (2000) concept of “emerging adulthood” as a new stage of life course. Drawing on interviews and observational data collected around the time when Arnett’s notion of emerging adulthood started to take hold, I use intersectional interpretive lens in order to highlight how race and gender construct emerging adulthood as high school students move out of adolescence. I consider Arnett’s thesis twofold. First, when emerging adulthood is examined intersectionally, young people reveal that – rather than being distinct periods that can simply be prolonged, delayed, or even reached – life stages are fluid and constantly in flux. Second, since efforts to mitigate against uncertain futures characterizes the Millennial generation, I argue that the process of guarding against uncertainty reorders, questions or reconfigures the characteristics and stages that conventionally serve as markers of life course. I conclude that the identity exploration, indecision, and insecurity associated with emerging adulthood can also be understood as related to how the youth reveal and reshape the life course intersectionally.

The article presents the findings of qualitative research on the educational aspects of – and conditionings behind – reaching full adulthood by young adult Poles. It is based on the assumption that during the process of transition to adulthood education plays the key role in the empowerment and self-sufficiency of individuals in relation to other spheres of life, i.e. primarily the professional one, but also with regard to family or housing. Education is rather frequently seen as a precondition for succeeding in the labor market, which, in turn, determines one’s choice of an appropriate educational path. The aim of this article is to determine the position of education in the life strategies of contemporary young adults. What are the young adults’ attitudes towards education? Are their educational choices really dictated solely by the requirements of the labor market? The presented research results are based on a series of in-depth interviews with young Poles aged 25-34 from a large Polish city, as well as focus group interviews with the representatives of their institutional environment, i.e. local public administration and social policy institutions.

The fire is an emergency situation associated with uncontrolled burning, which causes large and often unpredictable damage. In order to have a combustion process, there must be three prerequisites the presence of combustible materials, oxygen to maintain combustion, and a source of ignition. Very often the ignition source is a short circuit spark in the electrical circuits. Methods to prevent fires due to short circuits have been developed
