The present article is devoted to the work of the Belarusian playwright Franciszek Alachnowicz. In his work “Shadows” traces of poetic devices can be found. First of all, the author of the article pays attention to the psychology of the figure, the inner life of the heroes, a conflict between consciousness and soul, as the author creates an atmosphere of tension and horror. These features of his artistic style allow him to be counted among the representatives of the „new drama” – an interesting artistic phenomenon in European drama at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries.

This journal aims to encourage the study of Comparative Literature. The similarities and overlaps between less popular literatures and the well-researched canonical phenomena remain rather unexplored. Colloquia Comparativa Litterarum wants to give priority to such issues; to reconsider the clichéd notions of centres and peripheries, of one-way influences, temporary delays and topic deficiencies. It makes sense to seek the meaning of common affinities and trends, in other words – to look at what is positive, stimulating, and creative about the communication between literary and cultural phenomena. In fact, the Balkans are home to just a small share of the less researched literatures in the field of Comparative Literature. In Europe, we often know too little about our neighbours, unless they happen to be the French, German or British literatures.

Colloquia Comparativa Litterarum expresses itself in three languages: Bulgarian, French and English. It provides new opportunities for communication between scholars of Comparative Literature with the aim of a complete, conceptual and terminological understanding of new ideas within our field of research.

W artykule omówiony został obraz schyłku XX wieku we współczesnej białoruskiej beletrystyce.

The article analyzes the process of literary translation and the scientific study of Modern Belarusian playwriting in Poland of nowadays. The author notes the growing interest of Polish researchers and translators to the modern plays of the Belarusian writers. This fact is due to the success of Belarusian Drama Art abroad as well as with the development of Slavic studies in Poland, the advent of a new generation of researchers and translators. Polish researchers have noted that as a result of the Russification process in Belarus, the majority of young authors writes in Russian, however middle and older generations of the play writers prefer to use their native language. Most Polish translators and researchers (Andrei Moskvin, Agnieszka-Lubomira Petrovskaya, Carolina Niewiadomska et al.) are concentrated on Russian language drama in Belarus, but thanks to the efforts of Beata Siwek, Malgorzata Buhalik, Agnieszka Goral Polish readers have the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of Belarusian authors.

The language situation in Belarus is atypical in many respects and difficult to grasp theoretically: for its analysis, it is particularly important to consider the internal perspective, i.e. attitudes towards the language. The aim of the study is to develop an interdisciplinary set of analytical instruments for the discursive determination and detailed description of (language) attitudes by integrating a socio-psychological attitude model and a discourse-linguistic topos-based multi-level analysis. This tool can be used to record the contradictory construct of the national language in collective thinking in Belarus and to gain knowledge on how to design language planning activities in the country. The identified discursive argumentation architecture can serve as a reference base when setting up argumentation typologies in relation to non-dominant national languages. The research model created is intended to allow each social discipline to engage in a differentiated examination of attitudes towards all discursively present socially relevant objects in a generalized manner.

In this article, I analyze the problem of the interaction between literary and paralit-erary genres in the work of the Belarusian writer Andrus Horvat, winner of the Maxim Bahdanovich “Debut” Award in 2017. The intermedial potential, especially genealogical features of his work Radziwa ‘Prudok’ [‘Prudok’ Radio Station] will be discussed, as well as how it operates within the context of literature and various forms of visual art, which are subsumed under the main theme of this work, i.e. the search for the lost identity by the young generation of Belarusians.

This article is devoted to the study of the ideological and aesthetic foundations of Adam Ploug’s poetry in organic correlation with the artistic experience of other representatives of the Belarusian-Polish literary borderland (A. Mitskevich, J.I. Krashevsky, etc.). It is worth noting that the formation of A. Ploug’s creative consciousness took place under the direct influence of a number of ideas of Western European Romanticism, including the sacralization of the homeland and its past (historical memory), the idealization of freedom, Christian humanism and non-conformism, the idea of the timelessness of art. At the same time, both the concept of the lyrical hero and the artistic space in A. Ploug’s works are all built on the basis of the traditions of the Belarusian folk culture, which makes it possible to assert that the poet belongs primarily to Belarusian Romanticism.
