Vorliegende Arbeit, die gleichzeitig im tschechischen Original und in deutscher Fassung erscheint, eröffnet eine Studienreihe zur Prager Ghettogschichte, die zunächst einige bedeutsame Seiten des XVII. und XVIII. Jahrhundertes ins Auge fassen will, also die sogenannte nach-weißenbergische Zeit. Diese geplanten Studien haben sich das Ziel gesteckt, zu erforschen und festzustellen, welche wirtschaftliche Potenz die Prager jüdische Gemeinde an sich darstellt und welche Bedeutung ihr für die Prager Judenschaft einerseits und für die christliche Bevölkerung beziehungsweise den christlichen Staat anderseits zukommt. Ich habe schon ziemliches Material beisammen und hoffe, das Ergebnis in nicht allzu ferner Zeit veröffentlichen zu können.

Alljährlich am 4. Thebet hält die israelitische Kultusgemeinde in Böhmisch-Leipa eine Trauerfeier ab, welche dem Andenken einer großen Anzahl von Glaubensgenossen gilt, die am 9. Dezember 1744 der Mordwut einer verrohten Soldateska zum Opfer gefallen sind. Diese Trauerfeier besteht in der Hauptsache in der Verrichtung von Bußgebeten, die neben den üblichen Gebetsstücken rein religiösen Charakters auch einen historischen Teil, einen Bericht enthalten, welcher zur immerwährenden Erinnerung an den Tag des Unheils und zum frommen Gedächtnis an jeden einzelnen der schuldlos Gemordeten deren Namen nennt und in legendarisch gefärbter Darstellung ihr Leiden und Sterben erzählt.

Wie Ortsgeschichten eines Landes vortreffliche Wegbereiter für eine allgemeine Landesgeschichte sein können, so sollten die Geschichten der einzelnen Judengemeinden Mährens gearbeitet werden im Hinblick auf eine allgemeine Geschichte der Juden in diesem Lande, an der es trotz mancher Versuche dermalen wohl noch fehlt. Bei der folgenden Darstellung mag es daher nicht so sehr auf den Ort, dessen Namen gleichsam nur in Klammern steht, ankommen, sondern mehr auf das Typische, das die Geschichte der Juden jener Zeit in allen Städten, Märkten und Dörfern des Landes uns zeigt.

The story of a Jewish boy who survived the Holocaust. The book shows that for Jews there was no effective system of coping with the Nazi oppression. Neither connections nor money could save them – the survivors had to be extremely lucky in the first place and have a tremendous will of survival. The testimony is supplemented with the description of an amazing process: Auschwitz could have become a point of mass emigration of the Jews and not a site of extermination. The present fourth edition of the book contains documents fully confirming the truthfulness of that thesis. These memoirs are expanded with the post-war history of the Schönker family, including their struggle with the secret political police persecuting Jewish entrepreneurs (1945–1955).

Memoirs of a former inmate of Nazi concentration camps who was persecuted for his homosexual orientation. Memoirs of Heinz Heger (pen name of Josef Kohout) are considered unique not only because of breaking a taboo but also because of the description of the suffering of that group of victims which was persecuted also after World War II. Section 175 survived in the GDR and FRG until the end of the 1960s. The “extension” of persecution blocked the struggle of former inmates for compensation and the status of a group of victims. Heger started to be persecuted in 1939 with his imprisonment. In 1940, he was moved to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Less than six months later – to KL Flossenbürg, where he was put to a “special” block, where inmates with the pink triangle were isolated. The man was liberated by the US Army during a death march from the Flossenbürg concentration camp to KL Dachau. The book, an account by Heinz Heger titled Die Männer mit dem rosa Winkel, was published in Germany in 1972, in Great Britain in 1993, and in France in 2002.

The original version of the testimony of Calel Perechodnik, a resident of Otwock, a Jewish policeman at the local ghetto. The book is an accusation of the German people, and, at the same time, the Polish and Jewish people. The author assumes a great portion of responsibility for the death of his wife and a two-year old daughter. He outlines the figures of Poles and Jews known to him. He ruthlessly reveals their weaknesses and vices which had led to social consent for the occurrence of such inhumane situations. The Confession was written in 1943, but its author did not live to see the liberation.

She draws attention to Pankowski’s concentration camp experience. The author addresses themes most often explored in Pankowski’s works: the Holocaust, the writer’s attitude toward the body and corporeality, his obscene aesthetics and his Gombrowicz-like distance toward the national myths.

U srcu Balkana, unutar Bosne i Hercegovine, susretanje vjere, organizovane religije i seksualnosti odavno je tema prekrivena tišinom i osuđivanjem. To je mjesto gdje se duboko ukorijenjena tradicija i vjera susreću sa sve promjenjivijim razumijevanjem ljudskih prava, posebno onih LGBTIQ+ osoba. Ovaj zbornik tekstova, kolekcija glasova različitih autorica i autora, vodi čitateljstvo na putovanje kako bi se otkrile skrivene priče i prihvatila prisutnost LGBTIQ+ vjernika/ca u društvima Zapadnog Balkana, a sjene stigme bacile daleko, kao i kako bi se istražili načini na koje unutar organiziranih religijskih zajednica možemo kreirati prostore prihvatanja, razumijevanja i sigurnosti za LGBTIQ+ zajednicu i vjernike/ce unutar nje. Da bismo se pozabavili ovom tišinom, nužno je angažirati se u otvorenom dijalogu, slobodnom od predrasuda i unaprijed oblikovanih mišljenja i dogmi. Naša kolekcija tekstova služi kao katalizator za ovaj dijalog, osvjetljujući iskustva, borbe i nade LGBTIQ+ osoba koje zadržavaju svoju vjeru i duhovnost u bosanskohercegovačkom kontekstu. Ona baca svjetlo na izazove s kojima se suočavaju, kako unutar vjerskih zajednica tako i u širem društvu. Danas svjedočimo razlikama između stavova vjerskih zajednica i ljudskih prava LGBTIQ+ osoba. Štaviše, unutar samih vjerskih zajednica postoje proturječja i kolebanja oko ovih pitanja, pa i u širem kontekstu seksualnosti, koja odzvanjaju i u raznolikosti viđenja povezanosti i odnosa religije, vjerovanja, seksualnosti i roda unutar same LGBTIQ+ zajednice. Utjecaj vjerskih institucija u oblikovanju diskursa i javnog mnijenja u Bosni i Hercegovini i regiji Zapadnog Balkana je neosporan, što suočavanje s postojećim predrasudama i zabludama čini još važnijim. Raznoliki glasovi zastupljeni u ovom zborniku udružuju se kako bi pozvali na otvoren, empatičan i inkluzivan razgovor o postojanju i prihvaćanju LGBTIQ+ vjernika/ca. Ovaj zbornik nije samo kolekcija tekstova; on je poziv na akciju. Poziva čitateljstvo da istraži križišta vjere, ljubavi i identiteta te potiče razumijevanje i suosjećanje kako bismo zajedno radili na destigmatizaciji iskustava LGBTIQ+ vjernica/ka u Bosni i Hercegovini i šire. Naša iskrena želja je da ovaj zbornik posluži kao temelj promjene, te da otvori vrata prema inkluzivnijem i suosjećajnijem društvu na Balkanu i šire. Pozivamo vas da krenete na ovo putovanje s nama, da prihvatite bogatstvo različitih iskustava i perspektiva koje čine naše društvo, te da zajedno radimo na stvaranju pravednije i inkluzivnije budućnosti.

On October 19-20, 2018 in Kadaň, the Jewish Museum in Prague, in collaboration with the State Regional Archive in Litoměřice and the State District Archive in Chomutov, hosted the sixth meeting of archivists, historians, Hebraists, and regional museum workers focused on Jewish history in the Czech Republic, particularly modern issues and border regions' history. The seminar emphasized the Holocaust period and its impact on Jewish communities and individuals, the evaluation of archival sources on Jewish history in Czech archives, and the significance of Hebrew sources, both archival and epigraphic. A notable contribution was a study on Jewish sigillography, extending the seminar's focus further into the past. Not all presented contributions were included in the proceedings, but efforts were made to publish them in a planned seventh issue. The authors are responsible for their studies' content, and the spelling of "žid" or "Žid" is left to their discretion.

On October 17-18 2012 in Trutnov, the Jewish Museum in Prague, in collaboration with the State District Archive in Trutnov and the Museum of Podkrkonoší in Trutnov, hosted the fourth meeting of archivists, historians, and regional museum workers focused on Jewish history in the Czech Republic, particularly modern issues and border regions' history. The seminar included discussions on the contribution of Jews to industrial business development, the history of individual Jewish communities, and lesser-known Jewish personalities in both Czech and world history. It also covered broader demographic research results and the documentation of immovable monuments. The next seminar was planned for autumn 2014 in Teplice, with an expanded focus on post-1945 Jewish history in the Czech Republic. The authors are responsible for their studies' content, and the spelling of "žid" or "Žid" is left to their discretion.
