DOPRINOS ARAPSKIH FIZIČARA RAZVOJU ASTRONOMIJE

Interest in astronomy is one of the significant features of Islamic civilisation in the period between the eighth and the sixteenth centuries. The number of the scientists that dealt with theoretical astronomy, the number of texts written in this field as well as the number of observatories that were active at that time making significant written record of precise observations is impressive. Various studies of astronomy of Indian, Persian and Greek origin were translated to Arabic and served as bases upon which the Arabic astronomy was developed. The most significant Muslim astronomers were: Al-Battani, Al- Sufi, Al-Biruni and Ibn-Yunus. Amongst the large number of Muslim astronomers of the medieval period are also some who were proponents of the heliocentric model.

REFORM 500. WYCLIFFE – A KEY TO A PUZZLE BETWEEN CALVIN AND ARMINIUS

The doctrinal system of Protestantism has its roots in the religious movements which stirred controversies during the Papal schism (14th15th centuries). A fundamental change of perspective viewed in relation to the traditional Catholic system has begun in the British Isles and was initiated by the rector of Lutterworth, John Wycliffe. The present paper outlines similarities / differences between Wycliffe’s theology and the conceptual frame of Calvinism (the so called TULIP). Wycliffe’s doctrine has echoes in Calvin’s and Arminius’ doctrine and, through their mediation, Wycliffe, known as the “Morning Star of the Reformation” exerted a wider influence on the Protestant movement.

Logotherapy is a therapeutic approach which aims to resolve some psychological disorders and existential emptiness. Logotherapy is basically based on search for meaning. Logotherapy, which was developed by Viktor Frankl in the Second World War and subsequent years rests on humanistic approach. The aim of this study is to explore the historical development, strengths and weaknesses of logotherapy besides defining some basic concepts in logotherapy. Moreover, with this study it is aimed to bring up the relationship between logotherapy and religion. The current study is a review study which is based on literature review. In the end of the study, the researcher defined how logotherapy was addressed by various researchers in the course of history. This study is expected to contribute to the raise in the awareness about logotherapy in Turkey.

The article discusses the issue of the relationship (the dialogue) of a theology with a sciences from the point of view of a philosophizing theologian. Basing inter alia on the assumptions of the scientific realism of the theology, the unity of a reality and the acceptance of boundaries of a human cognition and the recognizing philosophy as a mediator in the theology-science dialogue, I show that the foundation of this relationship and also its necessary requirement is the Incarnation of God’s Word. In Christ there is the source and the summit of all knowledge.

BÜYÜK PATLAMA TEORİSİ KELÂM KOZMOLOJİ ARGÜMANINI DESTEKLER Mİ?

One type of cosmological argument appeals to the idea that the universe began to exist. This argument was originally devised by medieval Muslim theologians. William Lane Craig reintroduced their argument from the beginning of the universe as the Kalam cosmological argument. On the basis of the standard big bang model, Craig attempts to support the premise that the universe began to exist. I argue against Craig’s view, and defend that the scientific data does not show that the universe began to exist. I support this claim by appealing to the equivocal use of the term universe in physical sciences and in religious or philosophical literature and to the lack of data beyond the Planck era.

Topic of the article is relation of the rise of modern science and religion in Wester Europe in XVI-XVII Century. Autor gives try to contribute to polemics unfolded around Robert Merton’s study Science, Religion and Society in XVIIth Century England (1938), with two new thesis demonstrated on the basis of historical material. First, immediate significance of religion is not the main issue but relation and polemics among the Churches in the period of late Reformation, i.e., at the end of XVI Century. Here profound significance belongs to the sceptical polemics between chatolics (jesuits) and protestants (Hugenots) in France during the second half of the Century. For no side could afford the answer to the question of truth meaning of Holly Writt, polemisc have deepen the crisis of christian theology in general. Thus, space is being open to the new born science of Copernicus, Kepler and Galileo as a new alternative.

Testament Kaspra Kazimierza Cieciszowskiego, biskupa łuckiego i żytomierskiego

The main goal of the article is to supplement with new facts the biography of Kasper Kazimierz Cieciszowski, who was the bishop of Lutsk (Łuck) and Zhytomyr (Żytomierz) in 1798–1831, the metropolitan of Mohyliv (Mohylew) in 1827–1831. Heading more than 30 years Lutsk and Zhytomyr diocese, established in 1798, bishop Cieciszowski made a lot of effort not only for preserving but also building up Roman-Catholic Church in Volyn (Wołyń) in the conditions of Russian absolutizm. The reader can verify this when gets acquainted with bishop Cieciszowski’s testament and additions to it.

Romanian society was separated from every religious act because of communism atheism.During the communism period, it was forbidden to speak about God and Religion within theschool. Beginning from 1990, the things changed and the exuberance of the freedom of language andthought continued, as was normal, with the re-introduction of Religion into school.the icons resumedtheir place in classrooms, the teachers started to transfer the values. Everybody agrees that thissubject influence beyond the classroom. Religion must be seen and treated as a link between schooland family, the values go within the family and change behaviors, attitudes and lives. Manystudent’s families transformed only as a influence of their children’ life changing through orthodoxvalues learned from school, from Religion hour, from Religion’s teachers. A lot of mothers andfathers started to fast because of their children, started to go to church to pray. It was a blooming ofspiritual life. Both the parents and children reinvent their life through Orthodoxy’s values. Thisphenomenon was supported by orthodox literature and by mass media.

This paper addresses, from an analytical perspective, the conceptof”friendship”, as methodology in Christian education, stemming from the elements of Scripturepresent in the Gospel. Christ uses personal example as a real, tangible, obvious and easy element,meant to challenge and support with arguments behavioural changes through modelling ( after themodel of the one standing in front), , and everyone is invited to appreciate, respect and love oneanother. Jesus Christ is the teacher par excellence, and his methodology implies the cultivation offriendships. From a pragmatic perspective, he sees everybody as friends, regardless of thepotentialities that each might have, of social status or used resources. Love as strong feeling ofaffection, attraction and union between people takes on more hypostases, of which the agape- is theexpression of complete love, devoid of selfishness, with the the capacity to continuously offer, withoutasking for anything else in exchange, it is the model of Christic love; being a love of action, whichimplies unconditional support, compassion for the other, and is consumed as an attitude, aspiritually motivated behaviour and unrestrained in feelings.

Continuously adapting, the Church became receptive to the new challengesand sought to take on new responsabilities, including religious and moral counseling and education.The present paper, which is intended to be a guide for the chaplain priest today, exposes an in-depthanalysis of the psycho-spiritual processes involved in delinquent behavior; presents an informativematerial for the most commom psychopathologies specific to this space and proposes psycho-pastoralthechniques with a sanogenic role.The originality of this study is the use of materials specific to classical counseling andpsychotherapy in a pastoral context. Thus, attitudes such as unconditional acceptance, empathy,congruence, collaboration and abilities such as active listening, observation, feedback,summarization, etc. are scriptural justified and constitute the therapeutic reference frame. Christiancounseling and pastoral psychotherapy, with a role in reaffirming God's image in man, areconsistent with the theoretical foundations of two empirically susteined contemporary approaches:cognitive-behavioral theraoy and logotherapy. The common goal of building the relationship betweenpsychology and theology is „the new man"(Ephesians 4, 24), rehabilitated man, transformed bypersonal effort and free choice, both spiritually and cxognitively and behaviorally. The efficiency ofthe chaplain priest in his psycho-pastoral and educational interventions is conditioned by the correctappropriation and implementation of the theoretical elements, but also by the effort directed towardsachieving this change in his own person. The guide does not mean replacing the psychologist's workbut completing.

Scientific revolution and God: compatibility gap analysis from the non-religious perspective

For some time now and at several levels, various debates have been taking place, on whether the God factor, is, or can be made compatible with the contemporary science. This study attempts to explore the nature of this debate, by delving in two critical concerns; origin and evolution of life and universe. In line with meticulous endeavor to comprehend the matter of the concern, the theories pertaining to subjects of the debates, such as, the theory of evolution, theory of relativity and quantum physics are explored and analyzed. The exclusivity of this study is the omission of the religion (or respective religious point of view) from the debate itself. The paper also attempts to define God and additionally offers numerous prominent scientists’ views in relation to God. Moreover, the study also delves into the inside focus of the science camp and the burden of responsibility they have to the outside world. A number of significant points to the study, diverse in shape and composition, are put forward to elucidate the issues concerned. The paper, however, concludes that modern science, in relation to origin and evolution of life and universe, is unreliable, in disarray, filled, above all, with gaps, inconsistencies and paradoxes that scientists themselves admit. This challenging state has, ultimately, induced even modern prominent scientists to shift their belief and acknowledge that God, or, an undetected, but a crafted universal intelligence, is responsible for the creation, origin and evolution of life and universe, and not chance or spontaneity.
