Окружной центр Вэньшань (КНР): историко-этнографическое описание

Author(s): Alexey A. Zakurdaev / Language(s): Russian Issue: 6/2018

This article is devoted to the historical and ethnographic description of the city of Wenshan — the administrative center of the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. This city, unattractive from the point of view of tourism, has an important historical and cultural content, encoded in its name, and associated with the fate of many non-Han peoples inhabiting it, and with the dramatic history of the national policy of Chinese power in different dynastic periods. The author attempted to reveal this content and to introduce ethnographic and historical plots into the Russian science, to help the reader better understand the ethno-social processes that took place in the past of this city and the country as a whole. Special attention is paid to such political institutions as Tu si and Liu Guan. They are the systems of indirect and direct administration, which represented the confrontation, the periodic dominance of the manifestations of the local and the central authorities, which determined the form of management of peripheral territories, which is now used in China. The example of Wenshan, which appeared as a reaction to the conflict between Tu si and Liu Guan, gives us the opportunity to see the high price and value of peace in the history of the Chinese multiethnic society.

The Common Law and the Canon of Lekë Dukagjini

Author(s): Berat Aqifi,Ardian Emini,Xhemshit Shala / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2019

This paper contains a summary, chronology and analysis of a specific process that Albania has in general, as it is the specificity of blood feud, which is one of the typical and very current problems of the Albanian people. The implication of the second parties and the third parties on these developments in reconciliation of the lynx and the effect of the Canon of Lekë Dukagjini and other socio cultural implications for overcoming the inter human conflicts that find support at customary law, at the same time it is considered as an act to settle down the disputes, a legal and institutional component for the replacement of the courts. Special emphasis is placed on the Canon that Albanian law is an Albanian institution, institutional history, but also a “formulated idea”. It is the mind and spirit of the Albanians, conceived for centuries in the oral tradition, preserved, protected with fanaticism and transmitted as a message, to be understood, disaggregated and absorbed in the way it was formulated and transmitted, without being changed in form and content. The Canons are the product of an ancestral society, when Canon law was the only right to regulate life. Life becomes fierce not only in the sense of confronting nature, but also of people with each other, which is characterized by a constant competition, which one alone can not withstand. One of the challenges that Albanian society and state faces in this decade is the phenomenon of blood feud and revenge, a habit inherited from the ancient past, incompatible with the principles of civilized society and the rule of law.

Спектакълът на изисканото хранене заедно. Нови форми на празничност в София и преобръщане на употребите на публичното пространство

Author(s): Velislava Petrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2018

The article focuses on two forms of appropriation of the urban space by new forms of festivity organized around food consumption. Although the new forms intervene with public space and use its ideology, these practices rather question the general access to it. Usually, they are organized as private events but following the logic of new capitalism, they insist on a higher, often non-commercial, purpose that adds value to the experience. This may be the demonstrative struggle against wastefulness or aestheticization of food consumption in the public space as a form of creating experiences. The new media play a key role in the experiencing and producing of these events: from their disclosure and access to the organization of their visual identity.

Ролята на фотографията. Бурел век по-късно

Ролята на фотографията. Бурел век по-късно

Author(s): Petya B. Dimitrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2019

In the early 20th century, the Bulgarian anthropogeographer Krum Dronchilov, Ph.D. conducted field research in the 23 villages located near the road between Dragoman and Tran. His publication “Burel. Anthropogeographic Studies” is at the root of a second research which I conducted in 2017 – 2018 – “Burel a Century Later: Changes in the Region (a Comparison with an Anthropogeographic Research of 1923)”. The second research as well as this article mark the main changes registered in the region and my observations regarding the positions of researcher and respondents in the 21st century. In order to present the second research in a modern, efficient and intriguing way, the use of audio and visual methods in collecting and presenting the material should be considered a necessary element. The expectations related to the audio-visual established in the 21st century lead to changes in the structures and conceptualization of the scientific texts. In unison with this thesis, the selection of Burel’s photographs in the article is not a mere supplement but a foundation upon which I build my comments.

Единайсет минути „бездеятелен“ отдих на ден

Единайсет минути „бездеятелен“ отдих на ден

Author(s): Katerina Gadjeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2019

The free time was one of the most important results of the political and economic changes in Bulgaria during the 1960s; it was a peculiar “reward“ for the people who had put all their strength in the hard and wearisome work typical of the previous decade. But although it was presented as “free“, the time people had after the working day or working week was not free of ideological control at all; just the opposite, there were directives, plans and norms for it as well. According to them, only the activities orientated to the physical, intellectual, spiritual and social development of the character were considered “free time“. The article interprets photographs published in some of the popular periodicals in Bulgaria by means of which ideology constructed the idea of a correct organization of the free time of the citizens of socialistBulgaria in the 1960s. The article focuses not on the documentary but on artistic images and attempts to trace the process of transformation of certain everyday practices into beautiful views “advertising“ the ideologically legitimate activities.

Кръст и полумесец – из историята на полско-османското съперничество през XVII век

Author(s): Dariusz Milewski / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2016

The article discusses the history of Polish-Ottoman rivalry for influence in the Balkans and Ukraine during XVII century. After the peaceful government of the Jagiellonian dynasty this rivalry renewed at the end of the 16th century during the Ottoman-Habsburg war. Poland wanted to return positions in Moldavia, lost to Ottoman empire at the end of the XV and the beginning of XVI century. Thanks to the skillful Polish policy, Moldavian throne was occupied by the Movilă dynasty, friendly to both Poland and Ottoman empire. Unfortunately, in the first quarter of the XVII century the Ottomans established full control over Moldavia, after the Polish-Ottoman war of 1620 – 1621. The hostilities were resumed in 1672 – this time Ottomans sought to conquer Ukraine and partly got the chance (the truce with Poland in Żurawno of 1676 and the peace treaty of 1678). These losses gave Poland reason to engage in the war against Ottomans in 1683, as a result Podole and Ukraine were reclaimed. But the Polish attempts to conquer Moldavia remained unsuccessful. The Karlowitz Peace Treaty of 1699 put an end to the era of continuous rivalry.

Оne of the most popular photos of Vasil Levski is claimed to have been taken in Koprivshtitsa. This opinion is based on the memorial testimony of Vasil Karaivanov – Levski’s cousin from Kalrovo and a participant in the revolutionary movement. This short article presents the result of an attempt some additional information to be found, which could confirm the credibility of Karaivanov’s opinion that one of the pictures of Levski was taken in Koprivshtitsa.

It calls for nuclear weapons and other types of weapons that can be used for mass destruction to be excluded from state military arsenals. Пловдивската научна традиция в изследването на рефлексията – история и теория

Author(s): Veselin Vasilev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

This report analyzes the internal logic (and history) of occurrence of the unique Plovdiv scientific tradition in the study of reflexive problems. Its originality consolidates around the following features: recognition of the diversity of the phenomenon (and construct) reflection as his hallmark; differentiation of practiological reflection as a separate type; separation of the intermediate theory of reflexive approach that preserves the authentic content of the construct reflection on its application in practice; development of various technologies and applications which rationalize the application of ideas for reflection and realize them in social practice.
