Contributions to the history of the family of Oană Headman of Suceava (15th -17thcenturies)

Author(s): Paul Daniel Nedeloiu / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2011

Keywords: boyars; headman; governor; counselor; genealogy; family; diptych

This study represents an older concern of the author regarding the history of Neamţ county, in the Middle Ages, research direction which is approached due to the doctoral thesis. Previously, dealth with a number of issues related to the nobility that had land ownership in the Neamţ county in articles published in magazines such as: Opţiuni Istoriografice” or „Magister”, and in a series of dissertations held at „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University-Iaşi. Through this study we investigated the genealogy and political development of a family of boyars in the XV-th – XVII-th centuries: family of Oană, Headman of Suceava. Inquiring internal and external documents, of that time, we found that these boyars have enjoyed great political importance during the reign of Alexandru cel Bun (Oană’s case), Iliaş, Roman II, Alexăndrel, Petru Aron or Stephen the Great ( Lazăr’s case and Stanciul’case ). Economically speaking, their descendants have fallen in the XVI-th – XVII-th century. The impressive number of mastered lands of Oană and his sons, but also the preoccupation manifested towards religious settlements, by foundation documents, prove the fact that this family places itself in the life of the great Moldavian boyar families, as we have remarked, had a special role in the politics of Moldavia, giving for counsellors and officials in the 15th century, and his descendants contributed, through feminine side, to the creation of families such as Şarpe-Gănescul, Prăjescu, Ciolpan, Boul or Başotă.

LANGUAGE TRANSLATION — A KEY INGREDIENT IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

LANGUAGE TRANSLATION — A KEY INGREDIENT IN THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

Author(s): Tania Petkovici,Sorin Daniel Vintilă / Language(s): English / Issue: 16/2010

Keywords: globalization; translation; target market; expectancy norms

The term “global economy” refers to the economic system of the world and the interdependency among the different nations of the world. The society that we live in is in fact a component of the global economy and its success is based on accurate and appropriate communication. Without translation services, international trade would not exist and no exchanges of services and goods could take place. Because international trade transcends borders, languages and cultures, it demands strong language translation skills.

TRANSLATION AND TRANSFER OF THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC REALITY

TRANSLATION AND TRANSFER OF THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC REALITY

Author(s): Tania Petkovici,Raluca Ciortea / Language(s): English / Issue: 18/2012

Keywords: translation; economics; terminology; untranslatable; transfer

Addressing the challenges of translating economic texts requires, first, an analysis of the economic system itself, its nature, content, forms, etc. The difference between the economic systems of different countries is a major problem in terms of translation, which involves transferring the economic reality of the source language into the economic reality of the target language. This paper will analyze in the first part some examples of terms and concepts considered untranslatable, and in the second part it will discuss some formal and structural elements specific for the economy of the European Union.

Education and intercultural openness in a postmodern educational system

Education and intercultural openness in a postmodern educational system

Educaţie şi deschidere interculturală într-un cadru educaţional postmodernist

Author(s): Ioana Aurelia Axentii / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 1/2016

Keywords: intercultural education; partnership; globalization; openness; upgrading; postmodern

In a society considered the society of knowledge that determines the accentuated dynamics of the global social life, there is a need for an education system that can respond to the challenges of the third millennium. It is necessary to focus efforts and attention on the modern and postmodern education systems on the worldwide level. From the perspective of the education analysis and intercultural opening, the education projects certify the change of the traditional educational practices on the basis of some new principles such as: education for all, equal opportunities, partnership in education, global education, lifelong learning, inclusive education etc. Intercultural education aims to develop education in the spirit of recognizing the differences that exist within the same society. Education designed within the framework of intercultural perspective will deal with the relations between the school and other educational spaces; it will overcome the walls of the school, extending and creeping itself in informal activities.

The Financial Stability of the Romanian Banking System in the European Context

The Financial Stability of the Romanian Banking System in the European Context

Author(s): Nicolae Balteş,Maria-Daciana Rodean / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2017

Keywords: total own funds rate; tier 1 capital rateM non-performing loans rate; the provisioning coverage of equity; capital adequacy level; quality of loan portfolios;

Reforms to the European banking system aim to increase commercial banks’ ability to withstand various shocks and volatility of the current economic and social environment. Changes to European and international legislative framework aimed among other things, the level of capital adequacy and quality of loan portfolios, which are most affected by the turmoil arising in financial markets. Thus, it was considered appropriate to studying these two groups of prudential ratios, over a period of 9 financial years (2007-2015) at 8 banking systems in Europe: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Romania. The results obtained showed that the Romanian banking system has an adequate level of capital, although the quality of loan portfolios has significantly decreased, especially in the last period of the research. National Bank of Romania’s involvement in the significant reduction of risk and sovereign debt crisis contributed to the increase of comparability of the Romanian banking market with the European market. Major problems have been reported in the Greek and Italian banking systems, largely affected by the sovereign debt crisis.

THE INTERPRETER’S DO’S AND DON’TS

Author(s): Simona Șimon / Language(s): English / Issue: 23/2017

Keywords: communication;communication partners;interpreter;message;

The globalised society, in which we are now living, favours the personal and professional encounters between communication partners with various linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Nevertheless, the communication partners engaged in oral exchanges often do not share a common language and therefore they need an interpreter to transmit the message from one party to the other. The present paper draws the attention to the interpreter’s code of conduct meant to facilitate and not to hinder the communication process.

Considerations on the Role of Palliative Care in the Mourning Period

Considerations on the Role of Palliative Care in the Mourning Period

Author(s): Ilinca UNTU,Alexandra Bolos,Camelia Liana Buhas,Dania Andreea RADU,Roxana Chirita,Andreea Silvana Szalontay / Language(s): English / Issue: 58/2017

Keywords: death; mourning labour; pathological grief; palliative care;

Death is a universal and inevitable phenomenon, with strong emotional loading for both the dying and those around them (family members or caregivers, of a medical or psychosocial, spiritual nature). The main response to the passing of someone dear is grief, which is usually reversible; however, in some cases, it may generate important general morbidity and mortality risks. Palliative care represents a complex approach meant to improve the quality of life of terminal patients and of their family members, by preventing and mitigating physical pain, as well as psychosocial and spiritual issues. In this field, responsibility toward the patient extends to his/her family after the patient’s death. In this paper, the authors analyze the sources of mourning labour, as well as the intervention means suitable for the genuine existential crisis entailed by the passing of a loved one. The importance of the theme resides in the fine line between physiological grief and depression (with all the risks it involves) and in the need of identifying ways to familiarize the family with the idea of death, both before the passing of the dying and afterwards (to facilitate the mourning labour of those left behind and to avoid its complications).

SILVANUS PANTHEUS

SILVANUS PANTHEUS

Author(s): Bence Fehér / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 1/2012

Keywords: Pannonia; Aquincum; Silvanus; Pantheus;

In 1952, a small altar with a cursive inscription raised to Silvanus Pantheus and dated from the first half of the 2nd century was found at Albertfalva. The Pantheus epitheton is known from Aquincum. According to its analogues from the territory of the Empire and especially from Italy, this epithet belonged to a fertility deity called Liber-Sivanus. The person who raised this altar (and who was not an autochthonous inhabitant but a liberated slave or a slave) probably practised an Italian cult, which later fused with the honour of the local fertility deity in the Silvanus–Diana cult.

Physiological effects of static Qigong meditation: a systematic review

Author(s): Georgel Arhip,Ion Dafinoiu,Gabriela Monica Assante / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2019

Keywords: Static qigong; meditation; physiological effects; review;

Background: Qigong meditation has been rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine where it is perceived as a form of intervention which results in enhancing the mind and body connection. The main purpose it is to simultaneously exercise the mind and the body for treating various chronic diseases and moreover, promoting healthy life. Objectives: The main aim of the present review sits in emphasizing the benefits of static qigong since the majority of studies focused on the benefits of qigong practice without differentiating between the dynamic and static form. Method: The research was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guideline by consulting various medical and non-medical data-bases were for identifying the publications of interest. Results: Nine studies met the selection criteria totalizing 458 participants. The main outcome measures included physiological measures by using EEG and/or heart signals with major implications for focus and relaxation in six cases. One study investigated stress related markers (e.g. cortisol, adrenaline, endorphins etc.), while another study investigated various hormones related to the immune capacity. The preference for various meditation techniques, among which static qigong, was also investigated. Conclusion: The present research emphasized a highly positive relationship between static qigong, as a mind-body therapy, and various psychophysiological effects. Specifically, this review shows that static qigong can improve people’s health by positively altering indicators like heart rate signals, EEG monitored brain waves, cortisol and immunity related markers.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIZING A NATIONAL AGENCY FOR DEFENSE AGAINST UNCONVENTIONAL AND ASYMMETRIC ACTIONS

THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIZING A NATIONAL AGENCY FOR DEFENSE AGAINST UNCONVENTIONAL AND ASYMMETRIC ACTIONS

THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIZING A NATIONAL AGENCY FOR DEFENSE AGAINST UNCONVENTIONAL AND ASYMMETRIC ACTIONS

Author(s): Lucian Ştefan Cozma / Language(s): English / Issue: 52/2014

Keywords: security; unconventional; asymmetrical; geophysical aggression;

The increasingly numerous and sometimes unpredictable challenges, which characterize the contemporary security environment, came partially due to the rapid evolution of technology and also because of the expansion of the theater of conflict in other dimensions than the physical dimension – all that causes made it very difficult to ensure the needs of security and defense of states and communities/alliances of states, and will continue to create that effect in the nearest or remote future. Among these new and severe current challenges are the hybrid military actions or the unconventional and asymmetric actions. Most often, the traditional security and defense systems are not capable enough to respond effectively to such challenges, or in some cases are even incapable of giving any reply, however small. Therefore it becomes imperative to look for new ways to meet these challenges, also covering the needs for security and making compatible the defense system for the new forms of conflict in a multidimensional environment.

Verdian lyric theatre. Hermeneutics of the performance and contemporary challenges

Verdian lyric theatre. Hermeneutics of the performance and contemporary challenges

Teatrul liric verdian. Hermeneutica spectacolului și provocările contemporane

Author(s): Edith Georgiana Adetu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 23/2021

Keywords: Verdi; hermeneutică; interpretare; spectacol;

From Discrimination to Combating Discrimination. Ethics and Social Integrity

DE LA DISCRIMINARE LA COMBATEREA DISCRIMINĂRII. ETICĂ ȘI INTEGRITATE SOCIALĂ

Author(s): Viorica-Cristina Cormos / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 1/2020

Keywords: discrimination; society; combating; ethics; social integrity;

Discrimination is perceived as a prohibited difference or distinction, being illegitimate and arbitrary. It represents the differentiated treatment applied to a person by virtue of his membership, real or presumed, to a certain social group. Discrimination, as a form of marginalization, is a phenomenon still present in today’s society, being so common that it is considered „normal” by many of us. Regarding the fight against discrimination, it is essential to show that the principle of non-discrimination, as a fundamental human right. „All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” - it is highlighted in the „Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. The human rights system can be seen as a mechanism that contributes to the restriction of possible excesses by the state authorities. Discrimination is prohibited by law and no one is allowed to put someone in an inferior position just because they are a woman or a man or for any other reason. Therefore, in addition to the legislative norms and the contributions of the competent institutions, it is important to highlight the role of ethics and social integrity. The concept of integrity, a consistent concept of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and morals. Integrity is an uncompromising and consistently predictable commitment to honoring moral, ethical, spiritual, and artistic values and principles. În social terms, integrity is considered to be the honesty, truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions in accordance with rational principles.

Keywords: forensic medicine; forensic doctor; forensic expert; expert report; expert opinion;

A new institution, that of the forensic expert recommended by the parties, has been regulated in the field of forensic medicine. Corroborating the new regulation with the existing ones in the field, it is found that the guarantee of procedural rights, conferred by the right of the-party to recommend a forensic expert, is not fully effective, on the considerations analyzed extensively in the present study.

SIMINA-MARIA TERIAN-ROMANIAN TEXTEMES. AN APPROACH FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF INTEGRAL LINGUISTIC-THE EUROPEAN INSTITUTE IAȘI, 2015

Author(s): Codruța Cozma / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 17/2019

Keywords: texteme; repeated speech; idiomatic competence; integral linguistics;

The Romanian texts are distinguished by their variety and multitude and are a huge source of expressiveness, but also a challenge for linguistic analysis. Simina-Maria Terian has elaborated a very well-articulated work in which she studied the nature of these syntagmatic structures and their textual-discursive concretization, both in the media and in the literary works. The verbal language characterizes human communication and is customized by the expression of each speaker. Also, the free use of words is intertwined with repetitive speech sequences through which the locator refers to the idiomatic tradition and adds more authority to his own discourse. Repeated speech units have an important role to play in the meaning of the literary text analyzed and contribute to the evocation of a passed world.
