Identifying mutual relations between various records of the author's signature requires a translation of topographic dependencies onto chronological ones, reversal of the process of textual layering. The turn towards manuscripts (rough copies) as an autonomous study object, with its own meaning independent of the meaning of the text as such, can be associated with the French genetic school. Manuscript opposes the author's hand which reveals what supposed to remain unnoticed. It is materially linked with the author, it bears the trace of its hand and includes other traces of the person's historical biography, available for decoding. A worked out scheme of this particular archeology of text is directed at convoluted records and can serve as an exemplary research procedure.

The author analyzes the transformation of the creative dimension of writing emerging at the wake of new, non-paper forms of record. In a culture understood as a means for the production and processing of information, writer's creativity which has so far been linked to its material basis (paper), is transformed due to the possibility of creation in the electromagnetic field, as the author names it. Framework and the constraints of paper have at the same time determined the framework related to inserting some creative noise into the process of information creation, thus limiting their activity to the levels of thoughts and language. Text inscribed into the electromagnetic field seems free of these limitations, it becomes plastic, processual and prone to creative manipulations also on the part of the reader.

This article concerns the literature of “minor homelands” representing the territories that were included within Poland’s post-1945 borders. Preoccupied with a search of Otherness and with the concept of a multicultural borderland, this literature rose to popularity in the 1990s. Writers associated with it drew on the poetics elaborated in the context of Poland’s so-called borderland literature [literature kresowa] to rediscover traces of German culture that had been erased during the People’s Republic. By drawing on the poetics of retrospective utopia, however, this literature marginalizes the fundamental problem of forced migration. Siewior describes the strategies of masking that ‘migratory gap,’ i.e. the aestheticizing transfers of older (borderland) traditions, the return to the grandparents’ experience, or the reconstruction of the perspective of the Other. These narrative strategies suggest that this literature is unwittingly entangled in dominant discourses of identity and memory – discourses rooted in nostalgic postwar borderland literature.

The article presents the most important research perspective regarding women’s andgirls’ diary writing in English, French and Polish. The analysis discusses major works onthe women’s autobiographical writing, monographs and collective works on diaries. Contraryto appearances, at the beginning the autobiographical turn in the feminist criticism didnot include the diaries written by girls and women – as paraliterary, imperfect texts.On the fringes of the feminist interest in diaries were the French studies (includingPhilippe Lejeune, the most outstanding researcher in this subject) and still rudimentarystudies in Poland. The lack of interest in the Polish personal diaries, it seems, results fromthe lack of bibliographic studies and an extensive editorial project, which would disclosea great number of texts of significant value for our diary writing hidden in the archives.

The article discusses the very concept of the geography of science, which is strongly connected with the spatial turn in humanities. It concentrates on modern theory of literature – the discipline which was born and developed in so concrete space that it calls for the analysis of its beginning and evolution in spatial categories. In contrast with the existing conceptualizations, the article proposes to draw an anthropomorphic map of literary theory and then to study its development taking into consideration cities, cafes, cabarets, private seminars, family meetings and other unique unofficial spaces.

In this Introduction to his book The Climate of History in a Planetary Age (2021) Chakrabartyexplores how climate change and discussions on the anthropocene impact the writing ofhistory as well as our notions of being political. He argues that in an era of climate changethe global history of divided humanity, which is possible to grasp through concepts suchas capitalism, colonialism or globalisation, becomes intertwined with the planetary“deep history” of humans as a species. As a result, the conceptual framework related topostcolonial theory and critiques of capitalism cease to suffice; historiography mustbegin to also reference the findings of biology and geology. This also forces us to lookafresh at what it is to be political, looking back at the work of Hannah Arendt, Carl Schmittand Bruno Latour.
