The Rmanian Journal of French Studies (Revue Roumaine d'Etudes Francophones) is a publication that focuses on the thee main research directions in the French studies field: linguistics, literature and didactics. It was founded in 2009 as a yealy publication issued in Iasi, Romania. It pomotes a modern and critical Euopean spirit, according to the contemporary trends in the French speaking area.

This volume represents a collection of texts presented in the form of scientific interventions during the annual French-speaking colloquium organized for the XXIVth consecutive time by our French Department of the Faculty of Letters of the University "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" of Iași. In 2019, the general theme of this international event was that of irony. Laughter, questioning of seriousness, withdrawal from the gravity and implacability of fate, humor and other literary and linguistic forms of irony are therefore the main subjects of our book.

On the threshold, time and space are suspended, opening onto the realm of possible worlds. Going beyond this frontier represents a choice whose impact is a series of irreversible acts, taking one from a universe to another, from a promise to its materialization, from dream to reality, from life to death. In no man’s land, in its ambiguous in-betweenness, nothing is decided, broken, revealed or transgressed as yet. The phantasmatic appeal of the threshold challenges our ontological landmarks. It is this abundance of structuring functions that creates a liminary zone where danger is stimulating and exchange still possible, as ascent and descent both can induce a shift in terms of the level of reality and degree of knowledge involved.

Le présent volume réunit les textes des communications présentées lors du colloque annuel organisé par le Département de Français de la Faculté des Lettres de l’Université « Alexandru Ioan Cuza » de Iași, sous le nom des « Journées de la Francophonie ». En 2022, ce fut la XXVIe édition de cette manifestation scientifique, devenue au fils des années traditionnelle, et attendue avec intérêt par les francophones de la région, du pays et même de nombreuses universités étrangères, partenaires dans différents programmes et échanges internationaux.
