Keywords: Kant; Fichte; transcendentalism; epistemology; German idealism

The fundamental aim of the Author was to describe a way of thinking called transcendentalism, as the works of the two philosophers have played a crucial role in its birth and development. Keywords: Kant; Hegel; Marks; transcendence; philosophy; social philosophy; Europe; modernity

The volume shows the diversity and richness of intellectual potential, which Marek J. Siemek used in his original idea of “social transcendence”. The idea can be compared with the transcendence of the discourse socially “placed” by Habermas and with the post-metaphysical rationality models from McCarthy to Brandom. It allows to answer such questions as: what reason and rationality is needed for the process of modern socialization to take place, and if it possible today for the “givers” and the “takers” to approve the rules of self-government having the same autonomy and within the same law which is expressed by the Kantian “transcendental unity of apperception”.

Author(s): / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: homosexuality; history of the People’s Republic of Poland; oral history; sexual citizenship; sexology and sexual education; lesbian and gay (in)visibility

Histories of homosexual identity in Poland and other countries of the Eastern Bloc usually begin in late 1980s, with the emergence of first periodicals aimed at nonheteronormative readers and (informal) organizations fighting for their rights. The authors of this book look at what was before that – studying everyday life, expert discourses, literature, art and social networks, and comparing the situation in Poland with examples from both sides of the Iron Curtain. In their search for signs of emancipation of LGBTQ+ people and for mechanisms standing in its way they are aided by the concept of sexual citizenship, based on a broad definition of citizenship as a sense of belonging in terms of culture and identity along with the enjoyment of full rights.
