Medijska i informacijska pismenost: istraživanje i razvoj

Keywords: Media and information literacy; learning design; digital age; contemporary society; digital society; social platforms; global trends; education; research; social development;

Author(s): / Language(s): Bosnian

Keywords: sociology; theory; history; methods; subjects; rural; urban; enviroment; culture; education; politics; social change; ethnology; anthropology; family; demography; tradition;

Sociology as the main concern appears in the works included in the book Razumijevanje društva (Understanding of society) which arised as a result of academic teamwork and cooperation. One of the goals for making and publishing this book is to focus on some of the principal areas of sociology in the manner that it will include the scientific and research fields of the authors of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo. The book represents theoretical insights into some of the most important sociological disciplines. In the context of sociological perspectives, the works include the nature and understanding of society, a theory of society with a focus on the approach to sociology as a specific science with its subject and methods. From the point of view of the individual in society, the works are conceived in a way to present the relationship between culture and society, the field of sociology of violence and to give theoretical explanations about society as a system and structure. The third chapter of the book covers three units, namely social inequalities and poverty, society and population, and rural and urban society. Furthermore, the segment of social institutions emphasizes the relations of education, religion and politics and society, as well as the issues of the modern family and tradition. The section on the human environment implies reflections on social changes in general, but also on changes in the modern world, social ecology and research issues of ethnology / social anthropology. The book ends with an article on the development of sociology in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that this book will fulfill its mission of better understanding social reality in both traditional and modern theoretical framework and in that sense will be useful to students of sociology emphasizing the important emancipatory role of sociology.

BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA SOCIETY AND MODERNITY

BOSANSKOHERCEGOVAČKO DRUŠTVO I SAVREMENOST

Author(s): Abdel Alibegović,Ibrahim Bakić,Sarina Bakić,Adnan Džafić,Mirza Emirhafizović,Šaćir Filandra,Nezir Krčalo,Asim Mujkić,Jusuf Žiga / Language(s): Bosnian

Keywords: Sociology; Social reality; Social theory; society; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Modernity; social differentiation; demography; identity;

Social reality appears ordered to the members of society only because they are actively involved in its design. This period of order and arrangement of social reality enables that reality to be understandable to its members. In order to survive, they must constitute a world of meaning and live within it. Without symbols there would be no human interaction and no human society. But the task of sociology is the "deconstruction" of symbols and their meanings and the construction of the world of meanings adopted by members of society on the way to building a community that strives for the "common good". So that new meanings do not become an "ideological network" for individuals and collectivities, the basis of sociological research should be focused on three levels of their analysis: epistemological-logical, structural-historical, anthropological-ontological. On this path, fundamental knowledge of social sciences and humanities is necessary. The choice of knowledge of scientific disciplines and their methods in deciphering the symbols of social reality will be conditioned by the need of the moment. According to Spasić (Spasić 2004), sociology faces the following disciplinary tasks in the modern world: to reject the man-nature dichotomy, since there is less and less certainty in both the natural and social sciences, the complex, temporal and unstable are increasingly emphasized; reject the state as a self-evident framework for theorizing and research and focus on the local, regional and transnational levels; to accept the tension between the universal and the particular; understand objectivity in a new way – the crisis of Western scientific objectivity cannot be resolved by adopting subjectivity, but by accepting pluralism, discussion and learning. Within sociology, three shifts are discussed: no institutional order is taken as a given anymore, but the process of their "construction" is followed through the actions of the actors involved; it is emphasized that social actors are not passive products of patterns and structures, but are autonomous participants in their formation; the importance of power and the aspect of symbolic construction of reality in shaping institutional orders. The "new" sociology follows these changes in social reality, on the other hand it reflects the changed theoretical environment. Within everyday behavior, one actually tries to find answers to the questions of how decisions are made, how routines are created and how rules are followed or broken. Valid rules – routines and regularities in behavior are studied in such a way as to show us how the circumstances in which we live and act are socially organized. Looking beyond the surface and the seemingly observable, to discover the meanings behind it. Why do we have rules for different situations, how are these rules formed and why do we follow them? (Scott 2009) The "turn" made by M. Heidegger with his concept of being beinghere (German: Dasein) seriously called into question one of the central concepts of classical philosophy, the concept of the subject: Heidegger denies the identity of the subject, i.e. the notion that it represents a set of permanent and unchanging properties that make it the same. Instead, being-heremeans a constant self-determination in a social context. The notion of a subject completely conditioned by the external world, which is otherwise at the basis of positivism, was seriously contested. This also highlights the considerable emptiness and lack of meaning of that "mathematical" picture of the world that positivism, following the example of the natural sciences, tries to create about society. What we could distinguish today as operative from the legacy of classical sociology are the following attitudes: soften the boundaries towards other related sciences, reject the man-nature dichotomy, and deal with the reality of social facts. Only sociology, whose epistemological basis is phenomenology, can speak about the laws of nature and society, about "social matter" and its negation, about man and his spiritual ascent, and psychological states and frustrations, weak and correct intuitions, etc. social facts" phenomenological reduction through which the essence (eidos) of things is known. Because, only through their own spiritual reflection can sociologists bring scientific knowledge into harmony or unity with the original human nature, which by itself strives for that goal, and said harmony would be reflected in knowledge that would be a testimony of a unique "picture of the world" in man and in the cosmos. In Hegel's language, the same mental basis pervades all Reality, both natural and social. The theoretical basis of the manuscript includes the main ideas of theories of action and modern historical sociology adapted to the historical and cultural peculiarities of Bosnian society. Briefly stated, Sztompka's explanation of social development and action through the concept of social change within modern historical sociology explains that historical transformations include not only actors, structures and actors, not only actions, operations and practices, not only environments of 181 nature and consciousness, but also connections between all these, the ways in which they combine to create social dynamics. Over time, the very principles of work, the way of functioning and changes in human society undergo significant transformations. Not only does action change in the course of its own practice, but social becoming changes its way in the course of history (Sztompka 2004). However, there is always a core of tradition, which is passed down from generation to generation, for long periods of time. As a result, the process is endowed with significant continuity and cumulativeness.

Smjernice za unapređenje mentalnog zdravlja mladih: Savjeti stručnjaka iz područja mentalnog zdravlja

Author(s): / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian

Keywords: Youth mental health; Expert advice; Mental health improvement; Well-being strategies; Professional guidance; Adolescent wellness; Mental health tips; Psychological support; Emotional resilience; Mental health resources;

The Institution and the Profession: Sociological Analysis of Judiciary and Judicial Professions in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Institucija i profesija : sociološka analiza pravosuđa i pravosudnih profesija u Bosni i Hercegovini

Author(s): Samir Forić / Language(s): Bosnian

Keywords: socio-legal research; sociology; law; social institution; institutionalisation; professionalisation; legal professions; judiciary; judicial professions; judges; prosecutors; attorneys at law; law and politics;

The book represents a first socio-legal reseach in contemporary Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and a first comprehensive study of judiciary and judicial professions from a sociological perspective in the region. The key issue addressed by the book is how law, as a social institutution, develops, maintains and manifests its institutional strength. The book explores the underlying processess and analyses their effects by focusing on social action and actors that comprise the legal, namely juridical field in the social universe. Theoretical part of the research, presented in the first chapter, focuses on the processes of institutionalisation and professionalisation of law. Historical overview of the judiciary and judicial professions along with analysis of the judicial reforms in post-Dayton BiH from a law and politics perspective is presented in the second chapter. Empirical part of the research, presented in third chapter, focuses on social position, internal structures and relationships between respective judicial professions (judges, prosecutors and attorneys at law) and was conducted as a survey based on the sample of 441 respondents. The narrow focus of the book is on the High Judicial and Proesecutorial Council (HJPC) BiH as a micro social institution of law, its own institutional strength in conjuction with its capability to maintain and enforce its institutional as socio-epistemological borders. HJPC is also analysed through the lens of the social agency, its action toward other political actors and national judicial community. It is also analysed as a professional institution serving as a form of professional organisation for the legal professsions of judges and prosecutors. The book also features analyses of the processes of Europeanisation of BiH judiciary, feminisation of legal professions, and incremental changes to the legal market for attorneys at law.

Communication and Media in the Convergence Era

Komunikacija i mediji u eri konvergencije

Author(s): Lamija Silajdžić / Language(s): Bosnian

Keywords: digitalization; convergence; media; digital; journalism;

The digital age we live in is causing a shift in the environment in which media content is created, and numerous technological innovations have made the offer of audio-visual media content greater than a person’s ability to absorb it, almost surpassing their ability to choose. This, in turn, points to the necessity of adequately navigating the ocean of innovations and changes, both for the media and journalists, as well as for the audience/recipients. This book first presents the most significant theoretical frameworks about the concept and development of communication, technology, and media, as well as the changes brought about by digital technologies in the preparation, production, presentation, and reception of media content. After that, the results of empirical research in Bosnia and Herzegovina are presented through qualitative and quantitative media research, as well as the media habits of citizens/recipients. The book also reflects on the ubiquitous digitalization, or digital environment, the influence of media on society and individuals, the significance of online social networks in the modern age, and other relevant and important aspects of media activity in the digital age.

The main issues include work overload, lack of resources, security threats, bureaucratic constraints, and limited opportunities for professional development. These factors negatively impact professional autonomy and the quality of social services.The research findings indicate the need for systemic reforms, including increased financial and human resources, improved working conditions, legal framework reforms, and enhanced security measures. Special emphasis is placed on the importance of protecting professionals, developing training programs, and ensuring psychosocial support to reduce emotional exhaustion and stress.Improving working conditions in social work centers can significantly enhance service quality and the professional integrity of experts, contributing to overall social well-being, reducing social inequalities, and strengthening social cohesion.
