Summary/Abstract: Czech-Bavarian relations are flourishing. Thanks to the pragmatic approach of both sides, mutual distrust has been broken and historical burdens have been overcome. The establishment of direct cooperation between the prime ministers has supplemented and covered the dense network of existing, usually well-functioning cross-border contacts. The opening of the Bavarian office in Prague represents another partial step forward. The most significant risks for the future are primarily political instability in the Czech Republic, which introduces unpredictability and discontinuity into mutual relations and, in extreme cases, may even lead to a cooling of Prague's interest in cooperation with Munich. There is also a continuing risk of a return of populism directed against the other side on both sides.
