Summary/Abstract: As Treaty of Lisbon entered into force, the European Council became integral part of the institutional framework of the European Union. Its main task is to determine the general political direction and priorities of the EU. After each of its meetings, the European Council adopts conclusions identifying specific key issues and outlines specific actions to be taken or objectives to be achieved. In some cases, and can be determined a specific deadline for reaching an agreement on an issue or for preparation of a legislative proposal. Thus, the European Council influences and directs the EU's policy agenda.
