Summary/Abstract: The terminological inventory of present-day specialized fields has developed not only through traditional lexical methods of European linguistics (terminologization, derivation, thematic compounds, etc.) but also through specific cognitive constructs. The terminological vs. conceptual metaphors (the latter expressing a specialized meaning, most of them being registered in general and/or special dictionaries) are formed based on a preconceptual pattern, and they develop disciplinarily and/or interdisciplinarily through metaphor transformation. Virus is a generic metaphor with different degrees of relevance in the medical, pharmaceutical, and informatics field, similar to the Gr. Eidos, the qualities of which in our conception being transdisciplinarity and trans-temporality.
