Summary/Abstract: The author of the article draws attention to the ways of conceptualizing old age by the young and the fact that young people will live in an aging society. In view of the stereotypical understanding of the phenomenon and its marginalization in the public consciousness, the author postulates a greater emphasis on this topic in the presented draft of the Polish languages education. She suggests the interpretations of different images of autumn of life with reference to the sociological and gerontological concepts, philosophical reflections and contemporary poems of senior poets. She indicates the necessity to organize such classes in order to activate the participants intellectually and emotionally. Adapting to the old age is not an easy task, but it can significantly change the quality of human life.
