Summary/Abstract: The following article is devoted to the currently difficult condition of the Polish language teaching. It also discusses the possibilities provided by new methodologies and their impact on the innovation in didactics. The authors point to the fact that the problems in teaching the Polish language, literature and culture experienced at present are comparable to those existent in the past. The knowledge of new methodologies should broaden the standard procedures of teaching with interpretative contexts to support students’ understanding of the text. It should also provide the teacher with background for understanding cultural changes. At the same time, the authors warn against implementing these new methodologies uncritically. They emphasize that changes in teaching a language, literature and culture similar to those proposed by the “new humanities” already took place in the 1980s.
