Summary/Abstract: After the establishment of interwar Czechoslovakia in 1918 it was evident that the political culture of population and the support of state by its citizens in Slovakia represented a serious problem. The role of the emerging political elites was to build a positive attitude of population to the new regime. In this context, the most important population group represented the Slovak population. It shared, in its majority, indifferent attitude to the creation of the Czechoslovak State. State elites, on the contrary, shared idea of “political immaturity” of the so-called Slovak people. The paper focuses on the political socialization of the Slovak population, its agenda and agents in the early years of the Republic, and marginally on impact of emerging politicization of life on individuals, families and community.
