Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we show the significance of land leasehold in structural and ownership transformations of agriculture in Poland. We discuss the importance of land leasehold as a tool of the agricultural policy, as well as the strong and weak points of this form of land trading. Next, we present the results of the process of privatisation and restructuring of state-owned agricultural land. We also discuss the evolution of the principles for setting lease rent rates. In the next part of this study, we point out the circumstances under which land leasehold in Poland has grown in popularity. We show the scale of changes in agricultural real estate trading in the years 1992-2014, taking particular account of the sale and lease of land. We have evaluated those changes in terms of structural and ownership transformations.
