Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the anthropology of consumption in Serbia. It has three parts. In the first one, we present a brief review of the major assumptions underlying the anthropology of consumption. We find that there is a need for a reassessment and revision of the key issues of the discipline – for instance, the concept of culture, in order to correlate consumption with cognitive network of anthropology/ethnology. The second part of the paper describes possible research and subject interests of the anthropology of consumption in Serbia during the post-socialist transition period. The last part of the paper states concluding remarks, and points out to the research interests and project plan of the author.
