Summary/Abstract: The dialogue between regional science and political sciences is traced from the mid-20th century to the present day. These processes are examined through the lens of the then-emerging field of regional studies and the establishment of regional science within the scope of the social sciences. The historical path of the regional scientific community from its formation to the present is outlined. This period went through various stages of convergence and divergence from political sciences. The recognition of the need for interdisciplinary interaction, the ruptures, successes, and prospects for a more in-depth partnership are highlighted. The paper raises questions that are rarely discussed in political sciences. Among regional scholars, the problem is more familiar, but in Bulgaria, it has not been subject to analysis by the regional research community. The goal is to support the debate on common fields of interest between the two scientific communities.
