Summary/Abstract: Today, the Internet has become the most important and revolutionary invention that has touched almost every corner of the world and has tremendously impacted human life. The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as an interaction between the physical and digital worlds. It is a system of interconnected computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are equipped with unique identifiers (UIDs). The communication that occurs today is mainly in the form of human-human or human-machine, but IoT promises a great future where communication will also be realized in the form of machine-machine. IoT has changed the way people live, making it more advanced and has had an impact on many different sectors, giving positive effects in the world. In addition to its many advantages, it also has some challenges and disadvantages. This study mainly focuses on the main points related to IoT, how it works, its components, architecture, features, applications, advantages-disadvantages and many more. IoT is a vast topic to discuss and address. With the emergence of the Internet of Things, a huge increase in smart applications has been observed. In the coming years, IoT will become ubiquitous. Billions of sensors will be installed to implement IoT applications, which will generate a huge amount of data. Such a large volume of sensors, data, and devices will have huge financial costs. In addition to the installation cost, the energy consumption of IoT devices is a significant area of concern. Although IoT applications are considered to be very energy efficient, their energy consumption remains high. The energy efficiency of IoT will make this technology a long-term choice in the coming years. In this paper, a study of an IoT-based application is conducted. In order to reduce the energy consumption during data transmission in IoT-based applications, a solution is proposed and implemented to increase energy efficiency. Data transmission scheduling is the proposed solution, which mainly focuses on reducing energy consumption during continuous data transmission in IoT applications, keeping the network device or gateway active all the time and causing continuous energy consumption. The proposed solution aims to reduce energy consumption in IoT applications by transmitting data to the cloud in a more energy-efficient manner.
