Summary/Abstract: The last decade since 2008 has witnessed a fundamental change in the direction of international finance. There are four main trends: the process of dedollarization, the process of deglobalization, the process of decentralization and the rise of gold. International finance is in a transition from a unipolar to a more fragmented but also more diverse world. The success of this transition will depend on the ability of states and international institutions to create a balance between innovation and stability, between globalization and regionalization, between traditional assets and new technologies.
