Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the descriptive portrait sequences in Sadoveanu’s novel “The Golden Bough,” a work notable for its blend of the real, the mythical, and the fabulous. The research focuses on the methods of constructing portraits, both individual and group portraits. Through a linguistic analysis of the selected corpus, the textual sequences that contribute to characterization are identified and classified. A special emphasis is placed on the study of the pastiche portrait, examining specific procedures such as the use of archaic language, the mythologizing of the character, and the integration of stylistic features from legends. Ultimately, the paper highlights how these techniques, along with the frequent use of parallelism and functional predicates, create a distinct dynamism and musicality to the text.
