Summary/Abstract: Prabhabati Dasgupta was one of the very few women who took part in the trade unionist movement in colonial Bengal. Begum Sakina was a prominent Muslim woman and trade union leader who spearheaded historic strikes for scavengers in the Calcutta Corporation in 1939–1940.
