Summary/Abstract: The Bible has occupied a special place within the Romanian ecclesiastical and cultural sphere. The translation of scriptural texts into Romanian was driven both by internal initiatives and by influences from the Reformation and the humanist Renaissance. The 1936 edition of the Bible was primarily the result of Patriarch Miron Cristea’s initiative, who decided upon and approved the beginning of this important endeavor. The translation was rendered in a vivid and expressive Romanian language, which has profoundly influenced all subsequent editions of the Holy Scripture up to the present day. This edition continues the tradition of biblical translations in Romanian, starting with Simion Ștefan and extending to the synodal editions of 1914. The 1936 Bible stands as one of the fundamental pillars of the modern Romanian literary language and serves as a testimony to the elevation of the Romanian Church to the rank of Patriarchate.
